Equid Name: Celeste
Equid Age: 4 years.
Story:
Celeste had always dreamed of going outside, but her mother forbid her to. Celeste's mother was always worried that Celeste could get hurt or attacked because she was the smallest of her family. Everyday Celeste would look at the entrance of her cave longingly. One day, it was bitterly cold and tiny white objects fell from the sky. Celeste looked on curiously. What is that? She wondered. Seeing that her mother was occupied with her brother, Celeste stood up and silently snuck over to the entrance. She breathed in the cold air and exhaled. Taking a step out of the cave, the ground was wet, white, and freezing. She jumped back in alarm and whipped around to see if her mother had noticed. Thankfully, Celeste's mother wasn't paying attention. Celeste examined the ground closely. It looked harmless enough, so she stepped back outside and shivered as she felt the coldness touch her hooves again. She took another step, and another, and another, until she was trotting happily down the hill. She slipped a few times but regained her balance and strode on proudly. When she began to feel like she was lost in the canopy of white-covered trees, a soft jingle whispered on the wind. She looked around, afraid, expectant to be cornered by a predator at any moment. The jingle grew louder and seemed closer than before now. Celeste shivered, and not just from the cold - but from fright, too. Overhead, something crashed through the trees. Down came 9 creatures with harnesses and a sleigh with a human on it dressed in red and white. Celeste began to run away, but the human called to her. "Don't be afraid, little one! I'm not here to hurt you." She turned around, eyes wide. The human jumped off the sleigh and walked over to her slowly with a hand held out. Celeste stepped back, and the human stopped. "I'm Santa Claus," said the human. "And you are...?" He asked. Celeste gulped, her mother had told her to never trust or speak to humans - but this one seemed nice. "C-Celeste," she said nervously. "Have you been naughty?" He asked. She looked at him, puzzled. "I know that you have snuck out of your home when you are not supposed to," said Santa. "Yes," said Celeste. "I guess I have been n-naughty then." Santa Claus smiled warmly. "Well, at least you told the truth. Come with me, I shall take you home," he said, pointing to his sled. "My reindeer will know where to go - especially him," Santa pointed to the reindeer in the front with a red nose. "Come now," he said kindly. Celeste walked over to the sled and stepped on. Santa sat down next to her. "On Dasher, on Dancer, on Comet, on Cupid..." Before she knew it, Celeste was back in her cave. "Merry Christmas!" A voice called faintly from outside. Celeste smiled. "Merry Christmas..." And looking down, a crystal snowflake sat beside her, glistening like ice.

Equid Name: Wish I could hold this off, but... I suppose I'd choose Akemi, meaning "Bright (Aki) and Beautiful" (-mi), to describe her personality.
Equid Age: 4 years
Story:
It had been a peaceful morning; Akemi, just a filly, lay warm beside her mother's softly marked coat. Blue eyes stirred behind their lids as a chilly wind blew in, swirling briefly in their shared cave before it dissipated. As they slowly opened, she gave a soft sigh; it was a sound mixed with sadness and contentment. The cold had stirred her from another dream of snow, ruffling her short mane and stealing some of the warmth from her frail form. We're too far down the mountain, dear," she remembered her mother saying. The valley doesn't get snow, and I'm not strong enough to make it all the way to the plateau; I'm sorry baby. Her mother was sick, so Akemi just nodded and smiled, then laid down to sleep. She didn't know it'd be the last time she'd nuzzle her mother goodnight.

Finally awake, Akemi yawned, and turned to look outside; what she saw had her little hear skip a beat. "Snow!" She exclaimed. "Mama look at the snow! It's white and shiny and beautiful!" She whinnied, though took no heed of her mother's lack of a response. Leaping up, Akemi bolted outside, leaping bravely into the new and very, very cold material. It felt just like it did in her dreams; soft and chilly and cold. It was then Akemi noticed her mother wasn't there; turning to look back in their shelter, she saw the mare's still form, lying peacefully in the darkness. "Mama?" She called softly.

Trotting back worriedly, Akemi nuzzled the pale mare's muzzle; she was so cold. "Mama?" She said softly again. Once more there was no answer. Falling to her tiny knees, she cuddled as close to her mother as she could. "No, no mama please, please don't go," she whimpered, sniffling and crying. She hadn't foreseen this coming so soon; but now it was here. And her mother was long gone. For hours Akemi laid there and cried, pleading for her mother to come back, until finally the sun began to sink below the horizon, staining the snow in brilliant shades of fire.

The crunching of snow eventually broke the newfound evening silence, and Akemi's fine ears perked to listen better. They were multiple entities coming closer, and her puffy blue eyes widened in fear. At the sound of a soft growl coming from outside, the little filly's heart froze; wolves were commonplace this time of year, and her mother wasn't there to protect her. What should she do? She couldn't fight them off, she was much too small! Her mind raced with options, almost as fast as her heart. Now, with her systems filled with adrenaline, she made her decision.

Leaping up from her place beside her mother's body, joints stiff from the cold and her vision still slightly blurry from her tears, she bolted out and past the three wolves that were sniffing just outside the cavern entrance. Tiny hooves tearing chasms in the sparkling snow, Akemi ran for the safety of the forest; at least there, maybe she could lose her pursuers. She hit the trees at full speed, her thin, frail legs thundering subtly through the light layer of snow, the wolves hot on her heels. She didn't know how she was keeping ahead, but she wasn't about to stop and ponder a miracle.

All too suddenly the safety of the trees were gone, and she burst into a clearing that overlooked a small cliff; and though the drop wasn't extremely long, it would probably still kill her; she was small and frail, and the ground wasn't very forgiving. Akemi backed herself to the edge of the cliff and closed her eyes, waiting to feel their fangs tear at her skin. But the pain never came; all too suddenly the growls turned to yelps, followed by heavy breathing and angry snorts, broken only by the sound of thundering hooves. After a moment, a voice reached her ears. "Hello beautiful," he said, and when she opened her eyes, she found a handsome stallion in front of her. His coat was beautiful like the dried valley grasses, and he had kind green eyes, just like her mother. "I'm Jarek; don't worry, I won't hurt ya. What's a little thing like you doing alone on a cold Christmas night?"

Equid Name: Hot Chocolate (Coco)
Equid Age: 3
Story: Coco was digging in the deep mountain snow. She hit the ground and released a giddy whinny. She lowered her head and began to graze on the damp grass. She heard a melodic sound and raised her head. Coco looked down the mountain to see a snow covered town. Being the curious mare she was, she galloped to the town to investigate the wonderful sound.

Coco reached the town. She trotted the streets following the sound. The source was a group of carolers. She saw that they were enjoying themselves in their singing. Coco wanted to have fun too. She stood next to the group and began to whinny, trying to mimic their range of pitches. The carolers were not at all annoyed, but rather pleased and amused.

When the song had finished, Coco cantered around the town. The houses were decorated with shining lights and inside were trees dresses in string of lights and ornaments. She reached the center of town where stood a huge, majestic tree, decorated with the most elaborate ornaments and held a large, shining star on top. She marveled at the wonderful tree as she trotted around it, examining every last bit. She finally stopped to get a good look at the whole thing.

Coco turned around to see many people handing each other gifts. 'Is this one of the humans' holidays?' she thought. She looked back at the houses. A man held some small plant, that Coco recognized as mistletoe, over him and a woman. The two then kissed. She thought this holiday was wonderful! But what was it called? She overheard some people call it Christmas. Christmas.

Coco liked the sound of the word. A small child ran up to her, carrying jingling bells. She had a bright smile as she jumped up and slipped the bells around Coco's neck. She giggled and ran off to her mother. Coco examined the bells and shook her neck. They made the most beautiful sound. She smiled and bounded around, making the bells sing to the town.

Coco knew she had to tell the other equids of her holiday discovery. She galloped up to the mountains, where she reunited with her friend Tabby, who had agreed to help her spread the word. At the end of the day, all the equids were gifting each other and celebrating. Groups of mares and stallions neighed loudly, letting their voices echo down the mountain. They were celebrating their first Christmas, and they enjoyed it. Thanks to Coco, the would be celebrating Christmas every year for generations.

Equid Name:Polvere di Stelle ("Stardust" in Italian, or "Starry" by her closest friends)
Equid Age:4 years old
Story: 3 Years Ago
As a foal, Starry loved everything and everyone. She had yet to be scared by anything, and had no problem doing thing without her mom. She and her friends had gone on another “Adventure” to explore the woods close to where they lived. As they were galloping through the forest jumping fallen trees , she saw this big clack spot on the trunk she was about to jump and stopped abruptly. She got closer to it and extended her neck, until her nuzzle was touching the little creature. Pain spread through her nuzzle as she pulled away quickly. That thing had bitten her. The other foals came over to find her with a swollen nuzzle, trying to stop something on the fallen tree trunk. As they got closer they saw it was this little black creature with many legs. They nickered and she whinnied, walking over to them. She pointed her lightly swollen nuzzle to the creature and they understood that it was its fault. They cantered back home and she went to her mom. She layed down next to her mom and waited as the sun went down. As the sky went all black, these splashes of colo started crossing the sky. She got up, and stared at the sky in amazement. Her friends soon joined her and looked at the sky with her. After a little while they started playing tag, and as she tagged her friends, she realized her nuzzle didn't hurt anymore. She really liked her name now. And under that beautiful sky she wished to always be happy.

Equid Name: Koyuki- "little snow"
Equid Age: 4
Story: [its from her point of view b/c is her memory ;v;]
xxxxxx'Sound. Bright, jangling noise filled the stable where I was sleeping warmly. My eyes flickered open at once and I started breathing faster, frightened. The sound grew louder and louder, and I slowly inched my way into the corner, trying to hide in the warm straw. My heart beat wildly. I lay there, cowering, until my mother rounded the corner. She saw what was the matter and laughed slightly, a small grin forming. She nuzzled me gently, encouraging me to stand back up despite the terrifying noise. "It's only bells, darling," she told me, shaking her head and sending out another rippling, jingling wave of noise. Bells.
xxxxxxI still cringed a bit at the sound, but I stood up, trying to be brave. The door was propped open and Mother slowly padded her way towards it, so I followed. She peeked her head out and closed her eyes, smiling and breathing in deeply in the cold air. "This is our home, little one," she told me, "We belong high up in the mountains ... breathing in the cold air, dancing in the snow..." I didn't really understand most of the words she was saying, but they had a calming rhythm to them, as if she had said them many, many times over the years. I looked up at her curiously and poked my head out as well, hoping to see these mountains and dances and breathing she was talking about. I quickly pulled my head back in, astounded by the sparkling array of red and green and gold everywhere. No wonder Mother's eyes were closed ...
xxxxxxOf course, there was something more important. Kinda majorly important. Mother didn't seem to have noticed, though, so I pointed it out to her. "Mother, somebody has erased the world," I noted, mildly concerned. I looked out at the fields, the pasture where we grazed, the other stables we sometimes stayed ... all was a flattened, softened mass of white. What in the world ... ? But Mother just laughed, "Snow, my darling," she said softly, "Snow." I looked at her curiously, not knowing what it was, but then shrugged. If it didn't worry Mother, it wouldn't worry me.
xxxxxxI took one step out into the snow and sunk up to my chin. I gasped, looking from Mother to the treacherous snow and back. She just laughed, still unconcerned, and trotted out with me, expertly spreading her weight to sink in only a little bit. "You'll get used to it," she assured me, "This happens every Christmas." I carefully lifted up one leg, then another, then another, picking my way through the snow, but it got tiring. Eventually I flailed my legs pell-mell and crashed a little filly-sized path through the snow for myself. Mother followed along gracefully, a fond smile on her face. I wouldn't learn to walk gracefully on the snow until much later, much, much later ...
xxxxxxA pinprick of cold landed on my muzzle. My eyes went wide as I tried to lick off the snowflake, to no avail. I shivered happily and pranced around, throwing up snow under my hooves. Mother laughed. "This is your namesake, Koyuki," she told me, "I am sure of it now. You are my little snow. You always will be." I didn't know, truly, what she meant at the time, but she was pleased with me, and that made me happy enough.
xxxxxx"Now, you remember, little snow- always remember: These stables are not our home; one day, we will be back up in the mountains; we will dance in the snow and catch all the snowflakes we wish. We will be patient, we will wait for the right opening- but we will never forget: The mountains are our home, Koyuki, my little snow. Always."'
"And so went my first my first Christmas- and my first Christmas gift; a name and a homeland. Nothing to be snorted at," the lovely young mare finished, a small smile on her face, lost in the memory. "Now, shoo!" she exclaimed laughingly to the little foals seated around her, "I'm sure you have something better to do on Christmas day than hang out with an old mare like me." The little equids scattered, laughing. Little Snow danced gracefully over the layer of icy white, smiling at her mother. "We made it," she said simply, and that was enough.
If I won I want the quipping to be: Hmmm, that's a hard call. But I would love some sort of zebra-like horizontal quip on her head, and then just a bit of quip on her neck [necklace quipping maybe?] and some on her legs. if she had a bit of 'star quip' - like Donatello - that would be amazing, but I understand if she can't<3
