Story:
Celeste had always dreamed of going outside, but her mother forbid her to. Celeste's mother was always worried that Celeste could get hurt or attacked because she was the smallest of her family. Everyday Celeste would look at the entrance of her cave longingly. One day, it was bitterly cold and tiny white objects fell from the sky. Celeste looked on curiously. What is that? She wondered. Seeing that her mother was occupied with her brother, Celeste stood up and silently snuck over to the entrance. She breathed in the cold air and exhaled. Taking a step out of the cave, the ground was wet, white, and freezing. She jumped back in alarm and whipped around to see if her mother had noticed. Thankfully, Celeste's mother wasn't paying attention. Celeste examined the ground closely. It looked harmless enough, so she stepped back outside and shivered as she felt the coldness touch her hooves again. She took another step, and another, and another, until she was trotting happily down the hill. She slipped a few times but regained her balance and strode on proudly. When she began to feel like she was lost in the canopy of white-covered trees, a soft jingle whispered on the wind. She looked around, afraid, expectant to be cornered by a predator at any moment. The jingle grew louder and seemed closer than before now. Celeste shivered, and not just from the cold - but from fright, too. Overhead, something crashed through the trees. Down came 9 creatures with harnesses and a sleigh with a human on it dressed in red and white. Celeste began to run away, but the human called to her. "Don't be afraid, little one! I'm not here to hurt you." She turned around, eyes wide. The human jumped off the sleigh and walked over to her slowly with a hand held out. Celeste stepped back, and the human stopped. "I'm Santa Claus," said the human. "And you are...?" He asked. Celeste gulped, her mother had told her to never trust or speak to humans - but this one seemed nice. "C-Celeste," she said nervously. "Have you been naughty?" He asked. She looked at him, puzzled. "I know that you have snuck out of your home when you are not supposed to," said Santa. "Yes," said Celeste. "I guess I have been n-naughty then." Santa Claus smiled warmly. "Well, at least you told the truth. Come with me, I shall take you home," he said, pointing to his sled. "My reindeer will know where to go - especially him," Santa pointed to the reindeer in the front with a red nose. "Come now," he said kindly. Celeste walked over to the sled and stepped on. Santa sat down next to her. "On Dasher, on Dancer, on Comet, on Cupid..." Before she knew it, Celeste was back in her cave. "Merry Christmas!" A voice called faintly from outside. Celeste smiled. "Merry Christmas..." And looking down, a crystal snowflake sat beside her, glistening like ice.
