They dated for a while, and he gave her the boa on their first Valentines day together. Bello then got very sick and had to move back to Italy to be with his family. She has gotten over Bello, since they lost contact a long time ago. She is reminded of Bello every time she sees or touches the boa, and she still thinks of what happened to Bello.

Paola once did a heroic action,
one she has buried within the depths for
she does not wish to be remembered for it.
It retains her mysterious self.
But from that action she was going to
be presented with a medal but she refused
to accept it. She commented that she
wouldn't be seen dead in it so instead
someone rushed off to the fanciest
store in town and discovered the boa.
That she accepted with great glee and
her attitude switched suddenly.
She politely thanked everyone and
strode out with her boa, a signal of her
heroism. And a reminder that if she didn't
get her own way she could be fierce.
