A bit about myself: Well, what can I say? I am a college student and I work part time. I love animals, and I am currently pursuing a vet tech career. I have always been around animals all my life, and I really love birds. I remember looking at books of different birds from across the world, when I was a child. I used to be able to tell you what each bird was, where it lived, what the jueviniles looked like, and much more. Now my head is filled with different rabbit breeds(another pursuit of mine). My mother found a young Golden Conure outside her office this last summer. It was dehydrated and very thin. Well being the animal and bird gal that I am, I bonded quickly with him. We got his DNA tested to confirm that he was truly male(their coloring is the same for both sexes). This JBD reminds me of my quirky little Conure at home. He is quite the little lover and cheers me up on my darker days. Well this is a bit about me and why this JBD intrigued me so.

Story:(Goes with my artwork) I stumble through the humid jungle undergrowth. I hear a faint singing and walk further to investigate. I swat away small insects before seeing a clearing and walking to it. There is a brightly colored creature basking in the sunshine and singing to itself. I can make out the words and smile as I recognize the tune:

"Can anybody find me somebody to love?
Each morning I get up I die a little
Can barely stand on my feet
Take a look in the mirror and cry
Lord what you're doing to me
I have spent all my years in believing you
But I just can't get no relief,
Lord!
Somebody, somebody
Can anybody find me somebody to love?"

The creature stops suddenly as it catches sight of me, but doesn't bolt. It looks at me intrigued and stands up and slowly walks over. I notice its brightly colored fur, and its detailed headdress. Is that a...a dragon? I think to myself with my mouth open in awe. I had heard about these creatures...hmm oh yes! Jelly Bean Dragons! It seems friendly enough and It whistles at me softly, as if shy. I stand for a moment unsure what to do before it whistles again, this time a bit louder. I smile and whistle back. The creature jumps happily before pouncing around in a large semi-circle. It opens its mouth and continues its song, and I decide to join in. The JBD seems delighted and sings loudly, its beautiful voice ringing in the jungle.


Likes: Happiness, sunshine, singing(only when alone), dancing, mangoes, papaya, watermelon, pistachios, flowers, collecting bright feathers

Dislikes: Sorrow, fighting, seriousness, bad fruit, being hungry, silence, stormy days

Personality: Rio is a happy go lucky fellow. He enjoys adorning himself in different conure and parrot feathers, his favorite being the Sun conure and Jenday Conure, which are colored like him. He is a tender soul and hasnt a care in the world. He can come across as arrogant, but is quite shy and insecure. He is always trying too hard to impress those around him, in hopes of gaining friendships, and possibly finding love.

Hello, I'm Midnightbird. I've tried for several JBDs

Why I want this JBD
Is it really a crime to be pulled in by a JBD
who makes you start writing stories in your head immediately?
If it is, I'm guilty, but when I feel the connection I do to this bean,
I write a form. I just see so much my head will soon explode.

Name

Icarus is the name I've chosen. In greek mythology, Icarus was the son of Daedalus, locked in the labrynth with him. They escaped using wax wings, but Icarus flew too close to the sun. It melted his wings, plunging him to his death. The reason I chose this name is that I feel it fits the experiences of this JBD, how he tried things that nearly killed him.

Icarus is a Male, of course! I guess I can see how he might look feminine, but I do indeed interpret him as 100% a boy.
