WME: Cherry Bay

Postby KittyCatKita » Thu Sep 12, 2013 12:33 pm

Alright, last one I promise! XD sorry for making so many, I was on a roll *dies* don't worry, last one for a while.

Username: Tweeti
Equid's Name: Cinder; her markings make me think of smoke from campfires swirling up. It's as simple as that, really.
Age: 5 years
Sex: Mare
Height:13.1hh
Coat: Cherry Bay Pangare
Eye: Green
Quip: Filled Regular

How she got her scars:

The filly lay down in the hollow of a rotten log, breathing deeply. The wounds on her nose and left shoulder were aching slightly as she watched the cherry blossom swirl around her. She kept a close eye on the brambles and undergrowth, half expecting the man with the flashy thing to be hidden in the shrub, or behind that pile of brambles. But it was too deep in the Forest for that. She settled in and thought over her mis-adventure yet again, her mind wandering.
~~~
She had been playing with the other fillies in the deepest parts of the trees, while the adults grazed. It used to be fun, playing in the forest, but now she wanted to stretch her legs. The adults were always complaining about how noisy she was being, or that she was trampling all the good grass.
“C’mon!” she whispered to the young colt she had been chasing “Let’s go to the Saplings”
“The Saplings” was an area of paths and younger trees which tended to be popular with people going for walks in the Forest.
“We can’t!” he hissed back “My mom always said to stay away from there, and so did yours, I heard her.”
“Well, if you won’t come, I’m going by myself.
“I don’t believe you.” He snorted. “It’s too dangerous, and you’re nowhere near brave enough.” He rolled his eyes and sauntered off to join a leaf-fight that had broken out, much to the annoyance of the mares standing nearby.
She couldn’t help herself. She stood with her front hooves on a fallen branch, peering out into the shadows and mist that lingered between the trees. As she watched leaves swirl off into the morning twilight, something inside her stirred. The deep reds of autumn stretched off into the distance, promising adventure and beauty.
Glancing back to make sure nobody could see her, she leapt the brambles that bordered the hollow and trotted off towards the Saplings. She noticed the trees changing, growing smaller and less tightly packed, and more and more sunlight filtered through. Her eyes, used to the dark greens and blacks and brownish reds of the deep forest took in the gold and crimson of the forest canopy and the delicate pale yellows of sunlight pushing between gaps in the branches. She picked up a gallop, and leapt into the air, catching leaves on her nose, before dropping into puddles of rain or piles of conkers and acorns.
She was halfway through a jump when she noticed a path of sawdust bordered by planks of wood. Its artificial newness stood out, and young green trees grew on the other side of it. She pulled herself on to it, and paused to take in her new surroundings. She had made it! A rustling noise made her look around. She expected to see a bird or fox, but what she did see left her frozen in terror.
Two large humans, one a mare and the other a stallion, and a small one, a colt, were staring at her. “Dad!” the small one said, pulling on the larger one’s sleeve. “Look! It’s one of those horse thingies!” The “Dad” blew out between his teeth. “I’m going to take a picture!” he announced. “Be quiet, or you might scare it away” He pulled out a small square thing. It made a sharp click, and a light came on suddenly. This brought her back into her senses, and she ran along the path, easily leaving them behind. Then, in a bright shock of sunlight that half blinded her, the trees gave way to fields and fields, miles and miles and miles, of grass and crops and sheep.
She skidded to a stop, slipped in a puddle and felt a sharp pain on her face and shoulder. A barbed wire fence, which her mum had shown and warned her about when she was young, circled the forest. While she was distracted by the strangely beautiful landscape, she had fallen right into it. She screeched, and yanking her head back, shot back into the reassuring darkness of the old oaks. Half mad with panic, it took a few minutes to calm down and hear the voices calling her name. Recognizing her mother, she whinnied loudly and set off towards to source of the calling.
~~~
Now she was back in the hollow. It was spring, and over the last year or two the cuts had turned into scars. She would always have them, but she didn’t mind. They just reminded her how dangerous humans were. As she fell asleep, she watched the next generation of foals playing leaf fights with the blossom, and swore she would never, ever go back to the human’s part of the forest again.[/quote]

Mahogany Dust, she prefers to go by "Just Maggie"
Age:
She is three (3) Years of age
Gender:
Mare/Filly
Height:
13.1hh
How she got her scars:
First, I feel I should tell you a little bit about Mahogany Dust. She is a very loyal, protective mare, and so when a mountain lion came down from its shadowy den, starving, and seeking fresh foals, Mahogany was the only one around to defend the helpless foals. While the colts and fillies ran down the narrow mountain pass, Maggie planted her hooves firm and lowered her head, like a ram, and charged the oncoming cat, meeting him head on. With a snarl and a whinny, his paws flashed and a searing pain ripped her muzzle, but she knew she had to protect the foals long enough to escape. She swung her head and hit the mountain lion on his shoulder, knocking him off balance. His paw slashed her shoulder and she screamed, and then turned and gave a mighty kick, sending the big cat flying off the edge of the cliff. The cat was sprawled on a lower rock, dead. She laid down panting, and the herd returned and celebrated her bravery. She wears her scars proudly, as a reminder that you can do anything if you have the right mind and the courage.

(I have no idea how many words that is... Didn't want to make it too long ;n;)

Equid's Name: Peta
Age: 10yrs
Gender: Mare
Height:13.1hh
How she got her scars:

"Tell us how you got your scars, Peta!"

"Yes, tell us the story!"

The Cherry bay mare lifted her head from grazing and smiled at the group of foals whose eyes sparkled with curiosity. "Haven't I already told you that one?"

One of the little colts shook his head. "But Merrimack doesn't know it!"

The one named Merrimack was prancing in place with excitement. Peta sighed. "Oh, all right. Gather around, make yourselves comfortable." Once they were all laid down and ears turned towards her, Peta began her story.
“It all started on a very foggy day when I was just a filly, way up near the top of the mountain…..”
~~~
Her family’s lineage had a tradition- when a foal would turn 6 months old, that foal and its mother would climb the mountain, looking for signs of what the foal’s name should be. So, there they were, green eyes darting about absorbing her surroundings, the unnamed filly pressed up against her mother as they climbed the rocky mountainside. A thick fog was rolling in, and the dam was looking for a place they could wait it out.
They came upon a ledge surrounded with brambles and the rocky floor was covered in soft moss. The dam nudged the bay filly towards it. There was a gap in the brambles just big enough for the filly to squeeze through. The dam simply stated “Stay.” As she turned and walked off into the fog.
The filly dozed until she heard a sudden rustling sound in one of the bushes next to her. Her head bolted up, scanning quickly for what this mysterious noise was. Her eyes lay upon a bird’s nest. In it a newly hatched fluffy white chick with a black-tipped beak lay sprawled next to the remains of the shell it hatched out of.
The filly had never seen a baby bird before. Marveling at her new discovery, she sniffed the baby bird all over and watched it flop around, learning how to use its limbs, and the little bird chirped. Startled at first, her green eyes sparkled with curiosity. In her excitement the little filly poked her head further into the brambles to get as close to the chick as possible. It was then she heard a cracking sound, and when she turned her head to look, she glimpsed an egg identical to the one the chick hatched out of that had fallen out of the nest go over the edge of the cliff.
Right then, out of the sky came a very large bird of prey- the chick’s mother, a Golden Eagle.
She landed on the brambles, looking at her nest from above. “My second! Where is my second egg?!” It was then the Eagle noticed the little WME filly. Her piercing amber eyes were slits as she glared at the filly. “You, you did this to my brood, did you not?” The filly gulped, frozen in fear. The Eagle let out an ear-piercing screech as she opened her wings that span longer than the filly herself, and rose into the air. “I have killed Wolves bigger than you! You shall pay…”
The Eagle swooped down in an attempt to dig her talons in the filly, but missed. The little filly was already quickly squeezing through the gap in the brambles. She was not being cautious, and two large bramble spikes jabbed into her shoulder and tore through her skin as she made her escape. The Eagle dove again. Her talons clenched shut around the filly’s muzzle. The little filly threw her head in attempts to dislodge the bird, but it only dug the talons in deeper. Her vision turned a shade of red as drops of blood got into her eyes.
Suddenly the Eagle’s talons tore over the bridge of her nose as it was lifted off of her. She shook her head and blinked the blood out of her eyes to see her dam, chasing the Golden Eagle away.
~~~
“And that’s how you got your name too, right?” One of the foals interrupted.

“Yes. For Peta means Golden Eagle in the tongue of the native people.”

Equid's Name: Sherin (Old Persian name meaning "sweet/charming/delicate one")
Age: 3
Gender: Mare
Height:13.1hh
How she got her scars:
The piercing shriek of an eagle cut the mountain air into pieces. Sherin stopped, startled by the sudden noise, with her ears nervously twitching. Looking up she saw the silhouette floating and drawing circles above her, peacefully and without a sound. "Pfft, don't be scared of an eagle's cry, it's harmless compared to the beast you're gonna meet today" the mare whispered to herself. Taking a glance at the landscape she calmed down immediately. Purple wafts of mist filled the valleys while in the East the sun was rising between two mountains, her glare turning the rocky giants into mere silhouettes. A beautiful morning it was, and a glorious day it ought to be. From this day on, nobody would ever doubt Sherin's courage, everyone would admire her, foals would ask her to "please tell the story again". The thought made a shiver of pure excitement run down the mare's spine and her mane errected a little. She moved on, the fresh snow gnashing under her hooves, it had been snowing all night long.

Walking through it was exhausting, but after what felt like ages of wandering on the snowy path Sherin finally reached a small plateau. This had to be it, that very special plateau the others had told her so much about. She looked around, searching, and indeed there it was, a cave entrance in the bordering slope. Sherin sighed in pure relief, the exhausting climb was suddenly all forgotten, her gaze was captivated by that gaping hole. In this very cave he was said to live: The mountain beast, a much rumored creature. Many terrifying tales existed about him, the kind of tales that concerned equids told their foals to keep them from wandering off too far. Some said he was an exceptionally large cougar, others assumed he was a bear, but most claimed that this creature was not a normal animal but a mixture of the most horrible and deathly beings. Sherin didn't even care what he was. She neither wanted to fight, in fact she wanted to stay hidden from the creature. Sherin was bold but not stupid, she knew that she wouldn't stand the least chance. No, the young mare wanted to see him, and that was really all she wanted: To know the truth behind the tales, to see the rumored monster with her own eyes, to tell everyone that she was the very first equid that had ever faced the beast and survived.

Sherin had to make him come outside, as entering the cave would have been equal to jumping off a miles-high cliff. The mare hid behind two large boulders next to the entrance and let out a snort, followed by a careful whinny. Nothing happened, and peeking from behind the bloulders she saw...no beast. She whinnied, this time louder than before. Still everything remained quiet. Sherin started to get angry, she wanted this thing to come out, pronto! Forgetting all caution she left her hideout, planted herself boldly right in front of the cave and yelled "COME OUT, I'm waiting for you! Where are you!? I'm not scared of you! Stop hiding, come out already!". To emphasize her demand she reared, whinnying as loudly as she could. Seconds later she heard a rumbling noise from above that sounded like thousands of hooves beating the ground, a powerful thunderclap. With flattened ears, eyes wide open from horror, Sherin raised her head. In this moment it already hit her full-force, brutally sweeping her off her hooves. The white mass embraced and swallowed her. Sherin had absolutely no control over her body, like a leaf in a hurricane she was carried away downward. Sometimes she came towards the surface, only to be burried by a new load of snow. Eventually she became unconscious. When Sherin woke up, everything was cold and quiet. Deathly quiet. She suddenly realized she was covered with snow, but saw dim light shining through. After quite a while of struggling and fighting she finally managed to free herself. The mare felt pain and warm blood on her face, left shoulder and right hip. Trembling and shocked, Sherin got onto her hooves and started her way back home, knowing she'd never return to this place.

Equid's Name: Naskiri
Age: 7 years
Gender: Mare
Height:13.1hh
How she got her scars:
When she was young, barely out of her foal years, in fact, she had a rather nasty experience. It was quite unusual, but it started on a fairly normal day. Naskiri had been plodding along, searching for a nice area to lay in the shade, for trees in the mountains are not so very often seen. On this particular day though, she did manage to find a moderately large tree, the leaves enough to shade her, even with the wind blazing across the mountain. She grazed for a bit under the protecting arms of the tree, before she lay against the trunk for a nap, curling her fine tail around herself to ward off the chill of the wind.
She woke with a start as thunder sounded near her, rain lashing savagely across the land. She stood quickly, startled into action, finding that she was soaked through almost the instant she stood, the tree having been protecting her fairly well from the worst of it before she awoke. Her long ears flicked up when she heard a faint sizzling sound, and with a startled neigh she leapt away from the tree, her hooves striking the ground in desperation as she fled as fast as she could from the wet, sap-filled tree. She was a moment too late, though any later she surely would have been killed. With a sound like the sky shattering, an earth-shaking roar and a tremendous flash of light split the world in two.
Vibrations shook the ground, and Naskiri shrieked in pain, even the minute shudderings sending her nerves into a frenzy. She struggled for many moments to force her eyes open, her vision blurry and indistinct. She could barely make out the shapes of her herd, recognizing them only by the colors seperating them from the landscape. One appeared to be talking to her, though she could hear no sound from them, or anything else. It took her many minutes of blank staring for all of the equids surrounding her to realize she could not hear them, and their blurry mouths seemed to stop moving all at once. She began to struggle to her feet, but pain lanced through her from her shoulder, and whirling her head around, she wearily recognized the crimson splotching of her own blood from two deep scratches on her side, splinters of wood still embedded in the wounds. She started to try and lick the wound, to see how large the chippings of wood were, and was startled to taste blood before even touching the wound. She then felt the pain of the three other scratches striping the brudge of her nose. "The tree.... must've splintered... lightning..." She heard fuzzily, and swiveled her head to look at the leader of her heard, who she could now see more clearly. "Are you alright?" He asked, seeming to realize she could hear him now. "I-I think so...." she replied uncertaintly, straining to stand again, keeping most of her weight on her three other hooves. "You were lucky to survive that with those few scratches you've got... I reckon you're the only equid within a hundred miles of here to have lived through a lightning blast such as that, and though those are sure to scar, you'll definately have a story to tell to any who are willing to listen."

Equid's Name: Lumina [Lumi for short]
Age: 5
Gender: Mare
Height:13.1hh
How she got her scars: [go here for the 1,000 word version; the one below 850 is words, I believe<3]

[I worked very hard on this; please no one take my ideas or writing</3]

Being the prideful mare she is, Lumina has reinvented this story many times over the years, painting it as a brave tale of a valiant battle against unspeakable enemies. But here’s the true story of what happened that dark day ...

Seafoam eyes glittering, Lumina stepped out of the shadows of the trees. Brilliant sunshine glimmered off her cherry coat and she flipped her dark mane dramatically, turning to shoot Zayne a mischievous grin. “Well then?” she said expectantly. “You ready to go?”

“I ... er ... well ...” Zayne mumbled, gazing uneasily at the barbed wire fence. Sunlight glinted off the spikes. Lumi followed his gaze. “Oh come on now!” she exclaimed, cocking an eyebrow incredulously. “Don’t tell me you’re afraid of a little wire?”

“It’s just ... I’m not sure this is a good idea,” Zayne replied finally, fidgeting from hoof to hoof. “It seems kinda dangerous ... like most of your plans.” Lumina paused for a second, then began to laugh, rearing up in the air, golden hooves catching the sun. Zayne grew more and more uncomfortable as she laughed, and when she finally quieted down, he sighed. “I guess you’re still going through with it then?”

She nodded, a look of fierce determination in her eyes. “Fine then. I didn’t think I could stop you anyways. You’re never afraid of everything! Just -- be careful?”

She flashed him a dazzling grin. “But of course, Z. Of course.”

Zayne shook his head, ambling off towards where the humans waited to take him away.
Lumina frowned thoughtfully. Since the moment she’d been captured, she’d been planning her escape. She cast a longing glance at the mountains, their frigid peaks calling her name ... how could Zayne not hear them?

Night fell ...

“It’s time!” Lumi exclaimed quietly to herself. She felt excited, thrilled, adrenaline racing through her veins, but none of the fear that any other equid might have felt. Finally, finally, it was time.

She backed up to the other end of the pasture, her gaze fixed straight ahead. She took in a deep breath, completely still. Moonlight glanced off the barbed wire, shimmering as if in warning. But just beyond that moonlight glittered off snowy mountain peaks ...
Lumina closed her eyes and ran, every hoofbeat its own private infinity, echoing like a million bursts of thunder in the silent night. She reached the fence ... she jumped ...

She was frozen in time, a silent painting of once forgotten freedom. She opened her eyes, a cry of joy rumbling up in her chest, looking only towards the mountains ahead ...

And so she didn’t see the second fence. Wickedly sharp, winking like a thousand tiny stars. Her leap lost its momentum and she began to descend. She looked down just as she hit it, eyes widening in terror, for once in her life a deep-down instinct of fear controlling her, filling her.

And time started once again. A metallic ringing filled the air as the wire vibrated with impact. She’d landed sideways, narrowly missing gouging her eye, shoulder filled with tiny barbs and face slashed. Pain merged with her fear to create --

Terror. This was new to Lumi. But suddenly it was everything, and she was alone ...

She cried out into the night. The mountain snow glittered coldy, unreachable, uncaring, unknowing. She cried out again and again, her tragedy of pain echoing answerless in the once inviting night.

But behind all the terror, under it all, she remembered one thing with a fierce determination -- freedom. She needed it. If she could only stand up, only go a little further, it would be hers. She struggled against the blinding pain, trying to remember ... Little by little it seeped back into her. It filled her with its warmth and it strengthened her. She was almost there.

With a yelp of effort, she forced herself up on trembling legs. She ripped herself from the wire, pain rocking her thin frame. She ignored it, kept pushing, kept fighting. She felt warm blood dripping down, but thought fiercely of freedom, feeling the warmth flow back into her.

She half staggered, half fell, towards the base of the mountain. Shaking, she just kept moving, barely conscious, barely breathing. She lost herself among the firs, dark leafy shapes sheltering her, hiding her. She was safe.

Lumina collapsed to the ground. Her wounds throbbed, warm liquid puddling around her. She had what she’d come for. Freedom. Yet she couldn’t help doubting herself. Was freedom enough to let her live through the night?

Shooting pain throughout her, the doubt and terror came streaming back. She cried for the pain, for the shattered dreams, for leaving Zayne behind. She cried because she had what she’d always wanted ... and it wasn’t enough.

She wept for hours. And then she laid her head down and all went black.

The next morning ...

Somehow, impossibly, she felt warm rays of sunshine on her back, golden light spilling lusciously around her. She opened her eyes, blinking, shocked. It had been enough. Her freedom had saved her!

A warm rush of a energy and joy flew through her, blotting out any pain. Her dazzling grin reaffirmed itself and she reared, whinnying joyously. Happy tears welled up in her eyes and she blinked them away. She never cried again.

[sorry it's so long D; don't create gorgeous equids that give me so much muse gosh XD this is all your fault, totally //shotdead]

Dropping out, no matter how stunning she is. I'll have to see about a breeding with whoever it is that wins her. cx I indeed do like her, but I feel other people worked very hard on their forms and should get her.

It goes to show, I hope that you know that you are
What my dreams are made of
Can't fall asleep, can't fall asleep
I lay in my bed awake, in my bed awake at night
As I dream of you
I'll fall in love, you'll fall in love
It could mean everything, everything to me
I can't imagine being anywhere else

They say that love is forever
Your forever is all that I need
Please stay as long as you need
Can't promise that things won't be broken
But I swear that I will never leave
Please stay forever with me
