Tsuke the bean is not a snake
She's not the right size for heaven's sake
But try as you might to tell her so,
She'll stick out her tongue and turn up her nose.
Spending most of her sun-filled days
Laying on rocks in the mirage-like haze
Soaking up the sun's great heat
And deaf to the world and those she could meet
Who needs a social life when you can lick the air,
Slither about and pretend you're not there?
Sliding through the long long grass
Stalking bugs to let the time pass
Waiting for a few hours for bugs to go by
And when they do, it will be their demise
For Tsuke is a snake at heart
And when it comes to bugs, she eats every part
She knows it's not mice, but it's good enough
Cicadas and lemon ants - that's the stuff!
When she's not hunting bugs, she's lazing around
Usually splayed flat out on the ground
She never speaks and rarely blinks
Why are you bothering me, she thinks
For when you are Tsuke the snake
You can't be bothered to be early or late
