Art by meUmbrella & HistoryAzura started out as an adopted child of Hina, her land's protector. A hero of sorts. Hina used her magic to protect the land, and as such, decided to teach Azura about using magic. However, Hina found out that Azura had a very low magic supply, so instead taught her about how to use spells, but using them almost never, because magic was not so much about learning spells as it was learning how to put magic into usable forms, such as spells.
After that, Hina decided to search for something that her little Azura might want to do. Finally, after a lot of searching, they found Azura liked-and was very good at- craftsmanship and engineering. Hina continued to work with Azura on her new found skills. However, as you might guess, this became very lonely, the only people for Azura to talk to being Hina and her two friends that lived very far away.
One day, while visiting one of her friends, her friend said that she had learned about a spell that would be able to summon a companion. Azura was very intrigued by this, and went home to Hina to see if Hina had any books or knowledge of this spell so she may be able to use it. Hina almost immediately declined her request, saying that using a spell of that much power could be able to wipe out all of her limited magic ability altogether.
Azura was very downput at this fact, and attempted to live on in her very lonely lifestyle. The fact that Hina was even more busy than usual did not help at all. Finally, one fateful day, she decided that she'd go down to her friend who had told her about the spell and try to get her to tell her how to do it.
Her friend accepted, but on a condition: That she would be able to see Azura summoning it. "So I can see if you do it right," She justified herself with.
Azura and her friend made their way to a clear spot in the woods surrounding her friend's house, her friend saying that this type of spell was often very bright and flashy, which could annoy people. She began the summoning, which consisted of two parts, starting out with her chanting nonsense, as she had learned from Hina was the "code" so your magic supply could know what spell you were casting. After chanting the code, she could feel herself start to have a warm, tingling feeling in the pit of her stomach, as if her magic was getting amped for what was inevitably next. The second part was simply her sending out a beam of magic that matched the amount of power needed for the spell.
When one uses a spell for the first time, it is best to put all of their magic into it (Unless they have some preference to how much magic it will take) so it will not fail. After that, they can usually feel how much they overdid it so they will be able to be sufficient the next time. However, Azura did not use all of her magic because she wasn't sure of how much it would take. She used it all because she knew it would take this much, as Hina had warned her. Wait. Warned. Azura started to panic, but it was too late. The spell was already cast.
Hina fell to the ground and her eyes closed shut. She didn't have time to even think about the anticipation of seeing her new companion, it all happened so quickly.
"Azura! Azura!"
She awoke to the calling of her name. She did not feel groggy, nor had the sun (Noticeably) moved, so she assumed she had not been out for long. Her eyes slowly adjusted to her bright environment, and she was finally able to make out her friend.
She originally had a very frantic look on her face, but had calmed down significantly at the sight of her alive friend. She immediately took to her, asking her questions like "Are you okay?" And the such.
Finally, after mindlessly answering all of the questions, she noticed something hiding behind her friend's back. She asked to what it was, and her friend didn't smirk as if she was going to hide it from Azura for the rest of the day, as she probably would have normally done. Instead, she looked sort of distraught. "It's, uh... Your companion," she said. She brought it out for Azura to gaze at, and Azura could say she was surprised. But not exactly happily.
What she saw was not a cute parrot, a teeny talking nine-tailed fox, or a little devil. It was an umbrella. If she had not seen the rather luminescent gem at the top of the umbrella of her gem color, she would have said that her friend was duping her. She, panicked, grabbed the umbrella and examined it. It was very light, mint green, and rather plain looking other than the gem at the top.
"Uhh... Azura, maybe it's magic. Try casting something with it!"
Azura rolled her eyes at her friend's naivety. You couldn't cast with something unless it was a wand. But the realization suddenly hit her in the face as she realized... Even if this umbrella was a wand... She might not be able to cast with it. Azura immediately began to try to use her magic, but nothing worked. She didn't feel the same spark she always did when using it. She ran home, with the umbrella, crying. She had lost her magic ability.
After all this happened, Azura slowly learned how to use her umbrella to her benefit. Hina said that it
was magic, but she had no idea on how to use it. Finally, after months of experiments, Azura found a way to "hook" the umbrella up to her magic supply, using her 'magical engineering' ability, and use it to power her magic. She was utterly amazed by this, it did not only mean she could use magic again, it meant she could use it even better than before. Eventually she also decorated the umbrella so it'd seem more "special", using bows and amber the same color as her gem. Soon, her umbrella became an essential part of her life, using it as her only source of magic that'd she'd probably ever have.
And even though it wasn't really a "companion", Azura really still did value it as so.

Personality Very sweet after you get to know her, although has grown rather cold from limited social interaction. Shy, manipulative, rather hotheaded, and very, VERY persistent.
Gem Use She honestly doesn't use her gem that much. She usually says that there are
way too many JMDs disrupting the sky anyway, however may do it on those days where she really, really doesn't want the sun to shine in her face while she sleeps in.
Favorite Animal Probably a maned wolf. Slim and sleek. Not to mention beautiful.
Favorite Color Amber.
