What is a Koi Koi Inu?

They're small, fluffy dogs that always carry around fans. Their most distinct feature, though, is their tails which are made completely of water. The water tails can move around, almost like a regular tail, so the water kind of sprays out of them. Their water tails always have a koi fish that swims around in them.

I named her after the beautiful, yet cunning gypsy that was in one of my favorite Disney movies, The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Her nickname is Esme, like the name of the beautiful mother of Edward in The Twilight Saga.

Mysterious
Every magician has his secrets, and a fortune-teller is just the same. Esme is just like any other woman in her same line of work, because with even a little magic comes mystery in it's wake. She would never reveal the secrets of her craft, for fear of losing her business would set in and constantly stand in the back of her mind. She always leaves her visitors waiting, asking for more information than what was given; causing both mystery and retuning customers. The first visit is always free, because she knows you'll be coming back for more.

Self-centered
Now, don't think Esme loves this job because she helps others "find theirselves" because she's in it for the fame and fortune. She's incredible with telling fortunes, and I think she could become famous worldwide one day, and inspire others to follow their dreams and do the same. Esme always has to look better than everyone else, which is part of the reason she always wears her fancy decor; well, and she does it for perfect presentation. Her jewelry and beauty are her weapons, so why would she ever want to leave herself defenseless?

Creative
When Esme has trouble pleasing a customer, she has always been a very spontaneous and ingenious thinker. She can find a sneaky solution in an instant for any problem, no matter what's wrong. Esme cares deeply about her business, and couldn't risk a bad review from a customer who wasn't pleased, so she makes sure, no matter what, everyone leaves her caravan happy and satisfied. This assures her that no one will go off ranting to everyone they know about poor service.

Sarcastic
With joking comes sarcasm, and Esme is always the one fully capable of dishing it out generously. She's very skilled in the field of speaking, so half of the time, people think she's completely serious. She often speaks sarcastically to replace lying, it's easier and sounds more realistic when coming from her mouth. It's rare for someone to catch her sarcasm; she's had much practice over the years. It's not only useful, but fun for her as well, for she enjoys making fun and brightening her spirits while she works.

Cunning
Esme may seem made completely of kindness, but that is only because she is a master of deceit. Trickery is her game, and she is always the winner, I mean, who could possibly beat someone as good as her in the field of conning? No conman is better than she, and they no it to, the street goes silent when she's coming through. No one would dare try playing games with her, for they know it would mean bad fortune later. She's the girl no one would ever dare to mess with and isn't afraid the let people know why.

The dashing little fish that resides in Esme's tail goes by the name of Aladdin, or Al. He's kind of like that mystical cat or crow every fortune teller has, except, of course, he's a fish. He just helps to bring the business to life and give the customers a better affect when they enter the wagon.

Personality
[. Stubborn .]
Stubborn is a major trait for this Koi Koi Inu. Once he's found something to stick to, he's going to stick to it not matter the consequence. He doesn't like changing his mind, and he's almost impossible to persuade. He likes to keep to his certain topic and he won't let anyone else change his mind, even if the answer is better than his. Hideo also has a habit of finishing a project before doing anything else.

[. Independent .]
Hideo has always been independent, even since he was a pup. He doesn't like having to rely on other people to finish a task in fear the he will be let down. He's had a rough life and he can't bring himself to trust anyone very well, and he likes to separate himself from the rest of society. The reason for his independence was because he was always let down as a pup, but never took notice to it. It wasn't until he because middle-aged did he realize that he was being used, and he hated it.

[. Fearless .]
Hideo only has one fear in the world--being let down by one he trusted. Everything else, he brushes to the side like it doesn't matter. Near-death experiences only make him laugh, but being let down is like the world crashing around him. For this reason, he's never let anyone really trust him but if you do manage to open his heart like it once was, you'd have a very faithful friend.

[. Intelligent .]
Hideo may not look like it-- but he's a brilliant Koi Koi Inu. And although math problems aren't his forte, he has no trouble solving life-related problems. It was for this reason alone that he was able to live separated from everyone at such a young age. He's a quick thinker and light on his feet, solving problems that could leave even the oldest Koi Koi inu's stumped. Usually to calm himself down, he goes and find's a problem that someone might be having and fixes it without them knowing. He doesn't like the attention when he does something extraordinary, and he doesn't like to be recognized. He considers a 'reward' quiet time in a forest.

[. Reliable .]
If you do manage to open Hideo's heart, then I can only say one thing; you've got yourself a great friend. Hideo is loyal and likes to dot he strangest things once you get to know him. He promised himself that he would never let someone else down like someone did to him. He does all he can for a friend and expects nothing in return except to be his friend forever. Hideo would even do the tasks that are said to be impossible if a nakama is in danger.

Personality::
Kai does whatever Hideo does, and is Hideo's only real friend. Hideo tends to cling on Kai as a sorce of comfort when he's depressed, and Kai does the same. Kai doesn't like it when Hideo goes quiet, because she is quite talkative herself, and Hideo is the only other thing that will talk to her. Instead of Hideo's hobby being the fortune teller, it's Kai's. Kai likes to dress up Hideo as a fortune teller and imitate her friend's voice so it seems like Hideo is the one telling the fortune's. Kai thinks up all his fortunes when Hideo goes and hides somewhere so they're all alone. They tend to share ideas about it until Kai thinks she has enough of them.

Thump. Thump. Thump.

The sound of Hideo’s paw hitting the grassy ground was all that could be heard in the empty valley. The small Koi Koi Inu was currently searching for something, he just didn’t know what he was searching for. Call it instinct, but Hideo is convinced someone wants to meet him.

Hideo~ Hideo was convinced he was going crazy now that he was hearing voices in his head. Hideo~ Come and meet me! What Hideo didn’t know at the time was this was going to be the most fateful encounter in his life.

Hideo was panting heavily now since he hadn’t taken a break from his running since he first heard the voice. He saw nothing all around him except for trees and grass. Lots and lots of grass.

Come meet me Hideo! The childish voice was heard again. You’re close! Really close! I can’t wait to meet you!

“Who are you?” Hideo demanded, turning in a full 360-degree circle. He ended up falling on his butt, but it didn’t stop his head from spinning all around him. It was his first time to address the voice directly with words and he was curios to see what would happen.

The voice only giggled. A sound that echoed through Hideo’s head for a while before stopping. You’ve got to find me first! Come on Hideo! You’re close! Look for the spring, and you’ll find me! You’re a Koi Koi Inu right? What kind of Inu doesn’t have a koi in his tail?”

Hideo growled at the mention of his koi-less tail. Currently, only blue water swished around with a couple of stars in it. He never really knew why there were stars in it, but he didn’t really care or bother to ask anyone.
Hideo continued to run until he found a small spring. Hideo blinked in confusion, was this the spring the voice was talking about? It looked as if it would dry up in another two days.

It’s small, isn’t it? The childish voice has much louder in Hideo’s head now and it had a small edge to it. My home is about to dry up, and I’ll die with it. Hideo~ I called you here for a reason . . . Do you think you can help me? I don’t want to die with my home. I think this was fate!

“Where are you?” Hideo asked, mildly curious.

Below you~ The voice practically sang.

“Below me?” Hideo muttered and looked at his paws. That’s when he noticed the small white and black koi swimming in the small pond.

So what do you say? The koi popped his head out of the water. Will you help me?

Fateful encounter indeed.

a word from Hideo and Kai

"Urm, well hi. I guess. I'm horrible at talking like this--so I apoligize. Kai is so much better at it than I am, seeing as she's pretty social--"

Yes. Yes I am.

"Yeah. The fortune telling fish. She's just weird like that. She can't get enough of these 'fortunes' that she likes to prattle on about. It's amusing really--"

Hey! Stop being a jerk!

-Rolls eyes- "Anyway, I just wanted to say that although I may be horrible at talking to people--"

He's really, really bad at it.

"Ignore her. She's pretty hyper right now. So, I'm repeating myself; I may be horrible at talking to people, but I wanted to say thanks for not abandoning me fully. If you don't know what that means right now, then don't bother trying to figure it out. You'll find out eventually.
