Your Name: EnigmaticJackal
Horse's Name: Jolon -valley of the dead oaks
Height: 16.2h
Gender: Stallion
Story: Centered for easier reading.

"You'er such a liar!" A foal called after a yearling roan colt. (keep in mind that the term yearling is a term used for 1-3 year old horses, I use it in that way, although some only call a 1 year old a yearling.)
Jolon twisted his head around with a desperate look on his face, "No, I'm telling the truth this time! I saw the old forest!" He cried, turning back to face an older champagne stallion. "Malcom you believe me right? You've traveled all around the desert, you must have seen the dead trees!" Malcom shook his head, "No, I must say I have never seen anything larger than a palm at the oasis." He took a step toward the yearling and smiled. "I am not saying I don't believe you, but sometimes imagination can take on a life of its own when you'er lost."
Jolon snorted and trotted past Malcom. "Well, I'm going back then! If nobody will believe me then I might as well bring a branch or twig back!" He shouted as he took off over the dunes.
As the sky began to darken Jolon felt the effects of heat exhaustion. Sweat shone on his dark coat, highlighting the edges of his neck and shoulders. His eyes began to close and he fell into a quiet heap. Jolon didn't know he had fallen asleep, but instead was dreaming. The yearling smiled as a soft haze surrounded his legs. This was the dead forest's mist, or at least a dream mist. He stared up at a giant broad trunk. Gnarled and twisted, it loomed over him, spreading its canopy of branches out over the entire petrified forest. He cantered around past each tree, inspecting it for a loose or broken branch. His dark eyes lit up when he spied a low hanging twig. As he reached to yank it off the tree suddenly sprung to life! Jolon screeched and scampered backward, the dead tree only grazed his cheek with an evil branch. He tripped and fell to the ground, the haze quickly engulfed him, rendering him blind to where the other trees were. Suddenly jolted from his slumber Jolon frantically stood back up and fled from the "forest". He would never realize that the valley of dead oaks was just his dreamland.

Horse's Name: Umdrehung
Height: 16.2h
Gender: Male
Story:
The rough grasses shifted as the herd moved through. It was strange, there was rarely wind, so the grass blowing was a bad omen. Umdrehung, a young stallion, followed his herd through the almost barren lands. About them were small creatures. A snake slipping back into it's hole after offering a warning hiss. A Jack Rabbit hopping away so as to not get stepped on. Everything seemed normal, but there was a sense of danger about the air,
"Keep moving!" The lead stallion shouted at Umdrehung, who had lagged behind. He nodded, but still hung back. There was a noise tingling in his ears, and as it got louder, the other horses turned to stare at the origin. WHOOMP WHOMP WHOMP a large insect of some sort with blade wings spinning above it's head faced towards them. The lead stallion screamed and reared up, "RUN!" The herd shot off, trying to escape the thunderous noises. It was terror. Flashing hooves all trying to outrun each other whole trying to not tangle. Hot sweat sleeked each herd member. Screeches of terror and confusion pierced the low noises of the big insect's wing sounds. A newborn foal tripping and stumbling, falling away from the herd. His mother screaming for him to get up, but not able to stop running in fear of death.
They ran for many many hours, the sun touching the mountain tops when it appeared. Two long metal fencing enclosing the herd, who screeched to a halt. The lead stallion tried to whip around and attack the strange creatures running at use on two legs, but jumped when touched with what seemed to be a lightning stick. Umdrehung flared his nostrils and kicked out, getting hit with a lightning stick. It felt like a scorpion stabbing him in the leg, poison shooting throughout him. He cried out and tried to break away as he was forced into a small enclosure. Fear was the only scent as he was jammed with stallions from many herds, no room to stand, and a few trampled beneath them. Umdrehung was trapped, and could no longer escape. He was captured by man.

Your Name: Lichenfeather
Horse's Name: Sinope {meaning moon-face, because of her blaze}
Height: 16.2h
Gender: Mare
Story: My story is a little more like a legend... hopefully that's okay.

Once upon a time, at the dawn of the Earth, the Moon, Mother of the Night looked down upon the barren lands of the desert and cried. A single tear drop reached the lands, and where it landed, an oasis formed. The oasis was lush and plentiful, providing plenty of water to the lands around it. However, lost in the hidden corners of the desert, it was not found nor used.

Many years later, a weak, exhausted Desert mare stumbled towards the tiny oasis, the only bit of hope in the darkest of nights. Clouds covered the moon, making it impossible to see. Grunting, the mare pulled her self forwards. She was in labour, struggling mightily against the weakness that shook her to push her foal into the world. She had been fighting for hours, and now could not fight any longer. She collapsed into the grass on the edge of the oasis, exhaustion bleeding from her body. Finally, the mare was able to push the filly from her body, but the filly remained limp and still on the grass. Tilting her head to the sky, the mare let out a keening, full of pain and rage. As if summoned, the clouds cleared and the Moon looked down. Taking pity on the mare and her filly, she let drop another tear, this one landing on the limp, tiny body. As a ray of moonlight illuminated the filly's face, she opened her eyes and took her first breath. The mare, overjoyed, blinked fondly at her daughter and whispered "Sinope... Moon-face, my daughter."

Horse's Name: Amor
Height: 16.2h
Gender: Stallion
Story:
He trekked on, following the quickly disappearing tracks in front of him. His mouth was dry and and the sun beat down on his dark purple roan coat that shimmered slightly with the glint of sweat from his long journeys. He moved through the sand and it's dunes quickly, his view peeking on that of an oasis in the distance, the forested area surrounding the saving water within stuck out like a sore thumb in his eyes, yet few were discovered by the creatures called man. He didn't believe it was a trick of the eye, his senses were to keen in his home, this dessert. He galloped ahead, the tracks he had been following easing from his mind. that is until he saw the swish of a tail disappear into the foliage.
Amor drifted deeper into the oasis till his hooves were lapped by the calming water and his muzzle had reached its coolness. He stopped drinking when he heard a snort. His head popped up suddenly, his eyes meeting its source. a Mare stood there ears down "Why did you follow me here?" she spoke, but in a tone not too friendly yet worried. "I Didn't realize who I was following, i just followed i figured water would be where i ended up" He smirked and The mare's eyes narrowed, before her gaze switched behind her to the sound of approaching hoof steps. a foal emerged but it sound like someone else was coming in the distance. "You should leave" she spoke hurriedly "now, go!" He backed up and the foal starred at him curiously but hiding beyond its mother he could hear the foal ask her who it was, but was left with no reply. That's when it happened, a stallion stepped into the scene, and Amor's only that was man he did not look happy.
Amor's feet stood planted, despite the mares words that he flee. She looked worried upset, the foal looked scared, and the stallion he looked pissed. It was only natural he thought, to protect your family and chase away unknown stallions from your family and mate. But he was the young unknown stallion now and stuck in the awkward situation. "you are not welcome here" the stallion spoke, it was unusual for their species to fight but this didn't seem the case with this fellow. He couldnt help his next response "Why should i leave, i can drink here too" his cocky attitude was getting the best of him, that is until the stalion lunged around the pool towards him, Teeth barred for a bite. Amor turned his mane tossing to move out of the way. the stallion landed a nip on his rear and he kicked out, missing. He ran through the foliage to the sand, the angered stallion on his tail, biting at him the whole way. He finally out ran the older stallion and dissapeared back ino the dessert and it's dunes...that is until his next adventure begins

Your Name: jesus4ever
Horse's Name: Selah (A musical direction in the Bible)
Height: 16.2h
Gender: Mare
Story: Selah let out a strangled breath of air and lowered her head close to the ground, staggering heavily. Her sides moved whenever she inhaled air and she looked around. Selah's fur was bathed by the silvery-white light of the moon, giving it a gentle glow. Michael's voice rang in her head so clearly, so vividly, she could still feel his holiness washed upon her spirit. The Desert Appaloosa Mustang had just received a vision from Michael, the archangel of God. Michael had come before her in a bright light. At first, Selah whinnied and reared up in fright until Michael reached down and touched her velvety muzzle. Immediately, she calmed and returned to her regular height. Young horse, your service is needed. A prophet of God is in trouble, so God has gathered horses for his league of angels so that they may protect Elisha the prophet from the army of Aram (An ancient nation). Selah had questioned him on what to do and Michael simply nodded and explained. When the sun is close to rising from beneath the earth and the sky is slightly illuminated, you shall go to an oasis. Michael had pointed into the distance before continuing. There, you will find a league of angels with chariots of fire and other horses. I will be among them. Now hurry, God's creature!

The memory of Michael remained within Selah's mind and she lifted her head. God has called for my service! I shall go at once! she thought with a soft nicker. With her head held high and her steps prolonged, she strode forward, starting off at a walk and then gradually accelerating into a smooth canter. Her muscles rippled underneath her fur and the moon's light revealed the details of her coat. It was black with white speckled upon it as if a light blanket of snow had fallen upon her and brown hues colored her stomach and nose. Selah's brown gaze focused upon the land ahead of her as she trekked towards the oasis Michael had spoken of. After a few hours of traveling, Selah fell asleep standing until an inner nudge awoke her. With a jerk of her head, Selah blinked open her deep brown eyes and finished her journey at a walk. She arrived at the oasis and widened her eyes at the sight. Many horses had gathered around a spread of water and most of them had been harnessed to their chariots by angels. Flames danced harmlessly within the chariots and none of the horses were fearful of the fires. Selah announced her arrival with a whinny, which sounded somewhat melodic, and Michael appeared by her side. "Hello, Selah," Michael said with a smile and stroked her soft fur. "Come, let us get you harnessed to a chariot." He turned and led her to a golden chariot with beautiful runes etched on the sides and the front. The flames that the chariot held rippled beautifully and Selah stared at it for a few moments while Michael harnessed Selah.

Minutes later, every equine was harnessed and Selah had been paired with a horse that was of her kind. The other Desert Appaloosa Mustang was a mare and was rather attentive and did not bother to speak with Selah. Gabriel, another archangel, stood and proclaimed that they were now going to protect Elisha and was answered by the horses and the angels along with Selah's musical whinny. Michael, who had been standing next to the chariot Selah was harnessed to, stepped into the flaming chariot and yelled, "Let us go off!" Selah felt extra energy pulse through her veins and she immediately galloped onward. Her long stride matched the stride of the mare beside her, hoof for hoof. Whinnies and cries filled the air as the group sprinted through the desert towards Elisha. Selah was unsure as to where she was going, but for some reason, she somehow knew which direction to go in. And as she ran, it felt as if her rapid strides were flowing and effortless. Soon enough, the crowd reached Elisha and gathered around his destination protectively. Equines snorted and stamped their hooves as they anticipated the enemy. Selah pricked her ears forward, quivering with excitement with her tail whipping side to side. Finally, the enemy arrived a few minutes later, rapidly advancing and Selah flicked her ears towards Elisha, hearing the word "blind" escape from his lips. Suddenly, the army of Aram cried out, saying that they could not see. It is the work of God! Selah thought to herself. Then, Elisha stepped out of his home and yelled, “You have come the wrong way! This is not the right city! Follow me, and I will take you to the man you are looking for.” The Aram army then followed the sound of Elisha as he led them towards the land of Samaria. Once they left, Selah reared up and whinnied praise to the Lord. The rest of the group did the same and Selah was soon released after Michael gave her a blessing from God. Today, you can still hear the musical whinny of Selah as it flows upon the winds of the desert.

Your Name: HorsesForCourses
Horse's Name: Intarsia (inlaid brown and black woodwork)
Height: 16.2h
Gender: Mare
Story:
Intarsia ran faster, faster, determined to get away from all the troubles behind her. She galloped up a sand dune, and paused at the top to look back at the land behind her that used to be her home. "No more" she whispered and plowed forward over the top of the sand dune, where her bitter sire had told her never to go beyond before. Still looking back at the world behind her, the filly hit something with her chest - hard. She fell forward tumbling over and over down the other side of the dune, the large object falling with her. Sand was flying everywhere and she couldn't see a thing. After what seemed like forever, she came to the bottom of the dune, falling forward face first into the sand with a thud.

She coughed and snorted, trying to get the sand out of her eyes, nose and mouth. It took her a moment to realise that she wasn't the only one spluttering. Still sprawled out on the sand, she looked up to see a figure standing above her - another DAM. "Are you okay?" he said, laughter in his tone. She got up rather awkwardly and shook out her coat, blinking the sand out of her eyes so she could properly see the stallion. He was shorter than her, but looked older, but still a colt. Probably a bachelor that has been kicked out of his herd she thought. He was silver buckskin in colour with a white mane and tail and had large spots the colour of the desert sand sprinkled over his body. Although she knew her herd was the only one for miles and her father made sure it stayed that way, she had never seen him before. "I'm fine thanks" she replied, snorting the last of the sand from her nostrils. "I'm Adios. In my travels I found this herd this morning, and was contemplating whether I should go check it out, but by the looks of that I don't think I will." He said. "Smart move" she said and started walking, still determined to get as far away from home as possible, and talking to this stallion was only going to slow her down.

"Where are you going in such a hurry at this time of day?" He said as he trotted up beside her. "I don't know" she replied, and really she wasn't lying. She had no idea where she was going, only that she was over her sire and his bossy ways and she wanted out. "Well I was planning on going back to my herd, if you want to come." Great. She just met a stallion and he already wants her to meet his family. He was probably just being nice, but she felt like being alone anyway. "No thanks", she replied. "Are you sure? Its getting dark, and there could be mosters out there" he said mockingly. "I think I can handle them." She wasn't scared of monsters, the dark however was a different story. She wasn't going to tell him that though. "Well maybe I'll see you around. Goodbye Intarsia." He said after her. She kept walking, worried about the dark and thinking about the stallion and his offer when an owl suddenly gave a hoot and took off from a nearby dead tree, flapping its wings loudly in the night. She skittered sideways and before she even thought over what she was doing, she was cantering after the stallion.

    Your Name: Kat.
    Horse's Name: Arabyss {some just call her "arab", and some call her "abyss" or "byss"}
    Height: 16.2h
    Gender: mare
    Story: mine is also somewhat of a "legend"; it's really just a look at how beautiful I think she is x3

Some said the gift was born from an apocolypse, and some said the sun, moon, and stars created it. Whichever one is correct, if it be one of these at all, no one exactly knows. Only the filly that received the gift has the story, locked away. But she never told anyone, and she never will.

---

The "gift" was the universe, if you were wondering. The filly was born with it when she entered the world. Her body was painted with it, the purples and blues all clashing with the moon's white beauty. The stars were scattered on her sides as if a child tossed a jar of glitter on her. She was magnificient. But she had one flaw--she couldn't speak, or her gift would be taken away. For some time, she was silent. She liked being "special". But one day, she broke.
She was angry. Her herd had exiled her, for they had finally cracked under the pressure of what the nameless filly was capable of. Of course, even she didn't know what that was. If a horse could cry, she would have run herself empty. All her hatred and confusion of what she was meant to do finally burst open, and she howled to the skies. Without knowing what to do, and being afraid of losing her gift, she hid in the darkness for days. When her coat finally touched light, she saw what she had done.
The stars were gone from her sides, and the nebula of beauty had faded into "normal" colors. She didn't know what to do, and she still doesn't. She named herself Arabyss, for the "abyss" of nothing in her heart. Arab doesn't speak anymore; it's all the hope she has left of getting her gift back.

    { I know it isn't very good, but I couldn't figure out how to put this legend into words and still only be three paragraphs XD but I think she is gorgeous, so I had to try at least lol. }
