What are Emyriches?

Emyriches are large docile creatures that inhabit the large, mystical island of Emyr. They emerge from their leafy lairs at dusk and are active for most of the night and morning. A colony of Emyriches is a tightly knit community, mostly consisting of a couple families. They are very social but completely silent as they lack mouths. They communicate through the bells on their tails which are also completely silent to the average human ear. The Emyriches pick up these signals through their large rabbit like ears and then respond is necessary. How do they eat? Well, they use the colorful pads on their feet to absorb nutrients from plants. This doesn’t harm the plant.
They are the size of a small horse when full grown. Females are slightly taller than males and are usually the ones that lead the colonies. Males mark territories and guard if they have to. Their only means of self defense are their size and small claws on their hind feet.
Cubs are born without a bell, causing them to be mute for the first few months. At two years old, a cub will receive a wrap. This wrap will be their first and probably last. The parent either makes it or hires someone to. This band displays the cubs personality and where they stand in the colony. Females wear them on one of their front legs and males on one of the back. The wraps can be vibrantly colored and intricate but usually match the eyes and paw pads of the cub. They stand out from the naturally colored coat of the Emyrich.

Why Is He So Interested In The Night Sky?

Alrai is absolutely fascinated with the idea of space: the final frontier. The visions of human folklore and stories of strong astronauts going out to face the perils of deep space excites him. He absolutely adores the complete mystery of the unexplored territory, and just watching the stars also gives him a time to slow down, relax, and rest calmly without thinking about the stress of everyday life.

Because before his mother died, she told him that the stars are the guardians of the night, and that they will watch over him where ever he was. He also believed that that's where his mother was, watching over him. He loves just lying on the ground watching his mother and everyone else up in the stars.

Ever since he was old enough to walk he would escape outside from the dense forest to look at the stars. It is his passion,and he goes out there as much as he can without getting in trouble with his parents. He can now name most of the constellations for every season. He has his own favorite galaxy,star,and constellation. He loves the calm atmosphere of the night,and stars. He hopes he can study the stars,and all of space at some time in his life.

When he was little and his mother died, his older brother took care of him. Tolunay really loved his older brother and looked up to him as his father, brother, his everything. His brother used to always say that no matter where we are, no matter how far apart, you can look up at the stars and the moon and it'll be like we're talking to one another. He didn't understand it at the time, what he meant, but after his brother disappeared, he knows that the star's stories will keep him happy and he can talk to the moon and pretend that that is his brother, his only company.
