Paint's fallen hard for Key. She loves his coat, and his jewel.
Art/Short Story of the crush and them together?
Paint bounced down to the lake, checking the scape of the land. It was nighttime, her favorite time to go swimming. She used her jewel to create a little patch of day for herself, and plunged into the waves that lapped gently at the shore. She wasn't a water jewel, but Key was. Maybe he would like her if she could swim well enough. A shiver spread through her body as her muscles convulsed. Shuddering, she concentrated on the warmth of the day, of the sun creeping in to gently caress the water. It worked-the water of the night became the water of the day in the way she wanted it to. The gentle lapping of the water was hypnotic, relaxing her more than it ever had before.
"Hey."
A voice snapped her out of her reverie. She tried to jump away, but the water made her legs heavy, slowed her down. She floundered in the water, choking until teeth latched into her mane. The voice pulled her out of the water and deposited her on the sand. She coughed up some water, before raising her gaze at her murderer/savior.
And looked right back down at the sand. Key! He had almost caused her to drown and save her!
Worst. Night/day. Ever. "Hey," she mumbled, the syllable barely audible. "Thanks for drowning me, and thanks for saving me."
Key laughed, a deep laugh reverberating inside his chest. "You're welcome on both accounts, Paint."
"You know my name? I though I was the only stalk-." She cut off mid-sentence, feeling awkward.
"Of course I do. You're funny, always talking back to the teachers." Key paused for a moment. "Want to swim?"
Paint shrugged her shoulders. "Sure." She turned and sprinted into the water, with Key splashing behind her.
