Greetings! I am clarinet, a user on Chicken Smoothie; just like you. c:
There's not much to me or my username. But I guess it's safe to assume that I am associated with the instrument, clarinet. I play a clarinet in my school band, thus the username.

shao's name
You may have guessed from the title that this Shao's name is Opal. There's a story to this name, you see. Opal was called Ivory at birth, for her mundane mask of white, only pastel lines had disturbed the untouched blanket of snow white. Ivory changed her name to Opal in her early teens, which was supposed to be a pen name used for her art pieces, but it had grown on her later on.

Determination etches her features while she does her artwork, life, and basically everything Opal is.

Opal is quite reserved, opposite of outspoken. She yearns to portray her bottled-up emotions in her art. Sometimes, other creatures forget about her, because of her shy, cautious presence.

Passion is the twin companion of determination, working side by side to drive this shy Shao to perform the duties she dearly loves to do. Every stroke of her brush is done with precision, as it is her way of advancing in life.

Now, I bet you're wondering, where is the rainbow in all of this? Well, it's right here. How does Opal do her art? Creativity. She mainly dabbles in the realms of abstract and realistic, often portraying memories of her earlier years and representations of things she only saw in her eyes. For example, if she remembered playing in the mud one day, she'd paint paws in mud, sloppily forming a makeshift heart. There were many things that only existed in her eyes, such as Shao with wings of creatures such as butterflies and birds, long, winding tails, no masks, anything her mind had crafted. The things she had in mind often dealed with beauty, even back then, there was a weak spot for things that attracted her attention.

Opal is relaxed, rarely mad, gentle but firm. If you asked her if she'd rather paint in the burning sun or bask in the shade of a nearby tree, painting and lazily sippin' lemonade, the answer would be easy. Lemonade.

quirks and fun facts
-Opal is known to wander while she thinks.
-Sometimes she walks around with her brush dangling from her mouth.
-Her brush was one of her many creations.
-She signs her name with an opal, the 'p', 'a', and 'l' in the 'o'-shaped gemstone.
-Her favorite beverage of all time is pink lemonade.
-Her favorite food is layered rainbow cake. Ironic, yes, but delicious.
-Opal takes a fascination in birds, particularly unique ones. She went to Australia to gather art supplies, as well as painting, but searched for birds in the end, gaining her feathers.

short story
No words slipped from the aspiring artist's pursed lips. She was deep in her concentration mode, zoned somewhere else, possibly the infinite depths of her mind. Her eyebrows were knitted together, resembling some art project she might tackle in her later years. A canvas of snow white stared back of her, reminding the Shao of days of her past- a white mask that stared at everything intensely, taking in details no one considered. That memory gave inspiration to what would appear on the blank object. Slash! went her wooden brush, leaving a permanent mark on the canvas. And there was another noise, which sounded like the firm flaps of birds flying. More of the sounds followed afterwards.
Opal grinned at the masterpiece that stared back at her. Her mouth felt numb as she smirked at her newest creation, due to the hard labor her mouth endured during the making of her latest creation. "Perfect." her first word in hours came as a whisper, gentle like the flaps of a hummingbird's wings.
