Re: Silver Runes and Harts of Oak ~ Avalbane Sacheverell

Postby Silverhart » Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:16 am

The Gentlewoman with the Passion for Knowledge

Image

Full Name: Avalbane Sacheverell
Nicknames: Prefers to be called by her last name "Sacheverell', or "Sachie" for short; only her family and very few close friends can get away with calling her Avalbane, which is why most people simply know her as Sacheverell.
Gender: Female
Age: Early twenties

Movement: Sacheverell moves with a fair amount of poise and self confidence. However grace and elegance are not exactly her strong suit - she can strike a pretty pose, but her gait can be rather underwhelming. She walks straight generally, but often carries her weight on the balls of her feet, which makes her slightly uncoordinated. Her father used to say she wasn't born for walking - she was more naturally attuned to the rocking of a horse - or as her grandfather interrupted it, a ship. Indeed, she is a natural rider, and has never experienced seasickness. While walking she swings her hips forward stiffly, and holds her arms close to her body. Her movements are measured and deliberate, from the way she sketches to the way to the way she pulls on a line, but not always careful. She can be broad if the situation requires it, but prefers to be as precise as a surgeon. Most of her physical strength comes from carefully honed specific skills. She has moderate strength and stamina. It's her cleverness, and determination that make up for it.

Voice: Sacheverell is a witty conversationalist, who speaks with an accent of high education. Her voice is easy to listen to, which is probably best, because she's more of a 'teller', then a listener. She very much wants her opinion known, and will make sure you know it, as well as all the reasoning behind her opinion, various objecting opinions, and why they are wrong and she is right. Woe unto you if she considers you boring - at best she'll try to politely slip out of talking with you, at worse she'll take over the conversation and barely let you get a word in. If you're unlucky enough to have her consider you interesting, she will gladly drag you into every debate and hang on your every word, dragging on conversations just so she can glean some bit of knowledge, story, or clever witticism from you. Usually this has little or nothing to do with whether she likes you or not. In fact, she most likes people who are like her - able to launch into a civil conversation or debate, discuss things fully and completely, recognize all the issues, draw a logical conclusion, and defend it eloquently, while still being willing to make changes to their position if new information comes to light.
Sachie generally speaks in a curt manner, avoiding 'um's and 'uh's. She often jumps from idea to idea, and if you're not paying close attention you may get lost over her quick sentence fragmentation. When she gets very excited over a subject, she tends to talk very fast, sometimes in full blown run-on sentences, and may even start rambling or thinking out loud, which can be a hassle for anyone trying to understand her. But once calmed down, Sachie is usually able to get her point across in surprising clarity, drawing on her knowledge and vocabulary to spell things out. She does get rather frustrated if she has to explain things more then twice though, so pay attention the first time.

Dress: Sacheverell has two main modes of dress; adventure mode, and flashy mode. She loves dressing up in the high fashions of a few years ago. (She's not a fan of the more modern dresses.) They make her feel powerful, elegant and refined. She was born into a wealthy old-fashioned household, and likes to maintain a wealthy old-fashioned air about her. She loves the slender and elegant silhouette of a gown, and loves any excuse to get prettied up, although she doesn't really have the time or resources to do so nowadays. Most often you can find her in her riding habit, as it is more comfortable and practical then a big flowing gown.
Of course, one can't go sailing or adventuring in a fancy dress, which is why Sachie also adopts a practical mode of dress for sailing and adventuring, which usually consists of a plain shirt, trousers or a divided skirt, and may include a jacket or short skirt as well. She often takes along many instruments, books, and drawing tools, so she's sure to have a pack or two as well. Sachie is one who lives by the motto: always be prepared - if prepared means having an extra piece of charcoal in case the first gets broken. Chances are when you need a knife, or a canteen, she will not have it, having decided the space was better put to use for holding her field guide of indigenous shore birds.
Wherever she goes, whatever she wears she's most likely to bring along a sketchbook, with pencil or charcoal. She is also slightly far-sighted, so she tends to wear a pair of rectangular spectacles when she needs to read small print, and will always have those on hand.

Personality

Meyer Briggs Personality: INTJ

Image
Architect - The architect is a special kind of artist - one who can uncover foundations and build upon them. Sacheverell is a quiet and withdrawn artist, but don't think she's a loner - instead she thrives on the attention of her peers, and generally works well with others - so long as they don't mind her somewhat bossy attitude. Much like the Deep Sea Rune, she is confident and fun-loving. Full of wonder and lust for living, Sacheverell is usually exploring some deep cave, or thought provoking quandary. Concerned with appearances, yet knowing that they are not everything, Sacheverell recognizes the beauty of function over form. Flexible, creative, and somewhat eccentric, the architect is always creating something wherever she goes.

Image
Corsair - Underneath a pleasant facade lies the heart of a pirate. Sacheverell is not exactly the soul of innocence, and the Kelpie Rune recognized that. There have always been rogues, bandits, pirates; for the potential for evil exists in us all. Sacheverell is no exception. She can be manipulative, greedy, even petty, and given to the worse sin of all: pride. Like the Kelpie Rune is loves shiny things - although for different reasons. And while she would never deliberately place the importance of gold over the importance of friends, sometimes one does get distracted. Cunning, greedy, and maybe a touch morbid when the occasion calls for it, the Corsair nonetheless is confident and always open to new ideas.

Image
Scholar - The contemplative life of the Scholar may not seem adventurous to some, but Sacheverell would disagree. She loves books, and shares this passion with the young Kells Rune. The thirst for knowledge is one that will never be quenched, as each new tidbit only serves to whet your tongue. Fastidious in all she does, Sacheverell may sometimes get too caught up in the task at hand. She is very analytical, which can sometimes annoy people who just want a straight answer, or who act on impulse. She enjoys mental challenges, whether it's piecing together torn scrolls, or figuring the best way to keep her Runes away from her candy stash. While she is generally patient, dealing with stupidity really frustrates her. The Scholar is a creative force who strives to be her best, and is always looking for knowledge and skills to supplement that.

Image
Warrior - Righteousness, Courage, Determination and Honor are the hallmarks of a warrior spirit. Sacheverell posses all of these, although she is often in doubt of her own strength. But never fear, for when icy doubt begins to seep into her bones, she need only turn to the Belted Drake. Sacheverell tries to always be true to herself, but that's not always easy. Respectful, and steadfast, she hates to see injustice done. She values life, freedom, and the law, but of course, Sacheverell led a privileged life for many years. Sacheverell has a strong conscience, but that doesn't always mean she makes the right decisions. Being a warrior is a double-edged sword - righteousness fails, courage breaks, determination wanes, and honor gives way. The Warrior is still only human after all.

Image
Navigator - Never losing hope is the Navigator's mantra. Come storm or high seas, the stars still shine and the Seafarer's Rune still finds his way. Like the Seafarer, Sacheverell is always up for an adventure, and always has a goal in mind. She is blessed with good fortune, and the ability to look on the bright side. Sacheverell may be cynical at times, but she is generally optimistic in her world view. She doesn't shirk from hard work, or getting dirty, but at the same time, if someone else would like to work, she by all means lets them, and preserves her strength for more important things. She is feisty, and although strong, she oftentimes misjudges that strength. The Navigator is often prepared, having plenty of paper and pencil on hand to record each thing she sees, and is not afraid to dive into uncharted territory. After all, it's the Navigator's goal to discover that which has never been seen before!

Image
Trailblazer - Lonely is the wanderer, as he treks o'er hill and dale. Like the Celtland Hue Elkrin, Sacheverell is most comfortable on the move, even if it means leaving friends behind for a while. There is just so much to see and explore and do. She is a Trailblazer, always looking to explore new avenues. Sacheverell will often go off on tangents, exploring new solutions to problems, or taking the scenic route. Like the Trailblazer, she takes the lead on most expeditions, forging a path to new knowledge and adventure.

Brief History

The privileged only daughter of a wealthy landowner, Sacheverell was born and raised on an estate located on an island off the main coast of Eldenmore. She grew up in a rather old fashioned society of leisure, and was well educated from childhood, learning all things proper young ladies should; writing, arithmetic, music, literature, science, history, art, and riding.
She took an especial interest in natural philosophy from a young age, often going out with her grandfather in his boat to collect sea creatures. It was this study of sea life that she hoped to pursue when she booked passage on a ship to the main continent and hence to the universities of Alabastor City. But that all changed when the ship - a fishing vessel, brought up a creature she had never seen before - a Deep Sea Rune. The two formed a bond and began to work together to explore the deep ocean, and all of Eldemore.
While exploring the rivers of the Celtland, their party doubled. Having heard tale of a wild Kelpie Rune who was wrecking havoc, Sacheverell set out to find him, and that she did. When they left the Celtlands the Kelpie Rune accompanied him, along with another little surprise - a baby Kells Rune, the offspring of the Kelpie and Pictish Runes.

On their slow trek toward Alabaster city - stoping to partake of any adventure that came their way, the group met a stranger who told them of a fabulous treasure. Well, no one could resist a treasure, so once again the group set off, and after a perilous journey discovered the treasure was actually a Drake egg. Sacheverell was made guardian of the egg, and took the soon to hatch egg with her and her Runes. But Sacheverell wasn't the only one searching for treasure, and the group soon found themselves being chased by a group of soldiers intent on capturing the Drake Egg, knowing that the creature would be a valuable weapon if it imprinted on one of them. Sacheverell abandoned her hope of Alabaster City, and focused on trying to keep the egg safe until it's true Bearer could be located. On their journey, the egg hatched and the Drake imprinted on her. However, the baby was still young and possibly in danger of those men who would turn him into a weapon, so Sacheverell and her gang, retired to their current residence - a quiet dwelling not far from a seaside town. Not long after, on one of her many salvaging expeditions, Sacheverell discovered the Seafarer's Rune. He's a bit of a wanderer, but he always finds his way back to her, like a lucky penny that always shows up at the best of times.
While on a trek though the woods of the Celtlands, Sachie and her Runes came across a strange creature - an abandoned Elkrin fawn, who they quickly adopted into their family.

Interests: Sketching, Writing in her journal, Going on adventures for knowledge or treasure (or both as is the usual case), Studying Rune and Elkrin behavior, Swimming, Combing through tide pools, Victorian-era fashion, Restoring old manuscripts and books, Horseback Riding, Steeplechase, Writing her own novel, Sailing, Trying to learn cooking,
Enjoys Rainy Days, Adventure and Romance novels, Sweets, and Shiny things

Fears:
The Unknown - Sacheverell's biggest fear and frustration in the unknown. It's a contradiction for her - on the one hand, she loves questions. Without an unknown there is no question to ask, nothing new to discover. And yet, the most terrifying enemy is that which is nameless. Sacheverell hates facing challenges or enemies she knows nothing about. This is also why, as a child she was terribly frightened of the dark, and still is to this day. In the dark roam monsters and bandits, in the dark one is all alone. One of her tricks for coping with this is to close her eyes in the dark, thus gaining control over it.
Being Alone - Sacheverell's second greatest fear is being alone. She fears abandonment, of losing her friends, of wide empty spaces devoid of sound or information. She constantly craves stimulation of her mind. Sacheverell hates feeling alone, and thrives on the companionship of her Runes. She enjoys the sense of protection and belonging they extend to her, as well as their companionship.
Fire - For someone who works with paper, what could be more devastating then fire? Roaring through the night, eating up every last scrap of knowledge, art and hard work? What could be more terrifying then the loss of countless tomes of wise men's voices, speaking through centuries, destroyed in a heartbeat, never to speak again?

Goals:
Knowing Everything - given that that's impossible, she'll settle for knowing next to everything. She'll never stop asking questions and going in search of their anwsers.
Published - Sacheverell one day dreams of publishing a great Eldemorian novel, put it's proving tricky to actually finish one.
Luxury - Sacheverell wasn't meant for hard labor. While she loves what she does, she often wishes she had more leisure time... and more money. One day she hopes to live in a big house by the sea, with lots of land, and enough money to commission ships and expeditions to go all over the world, discovering specimens, artifacts, and tales no one has ever seen or heard before. That would be her ultimate dream.

Occupation: When not treasure hunting or collecting knowledge, Sacheverell's main occupation is as restorer of old manuscripts and books - not always the most lucrative of professions, which is why she also creates and sells scientific sketches, and salvages shipwrecks and jetsam. One day she also hopes to collect enough stories to publish an extensive book of Eldemorian myths and legends.

Home: Sacheverell rents an old stone and wood byre-dwelling on top of a small rise overlooking the ocean. It originally contained two rooms - an eating and sleeping hall, and an animal pen, as well as a loft. Sacheverell converted the main room into a poorly furnished kitchen and living area. It contains a large hearth for cooking at one end, and a smaller fireplace at the other. The area for animals was made into a study and library, and the loft is a large simply furnished bedroom. Yes, Sacheverell would prefer a somewhat more lavish lifestyle (it's quite a step down from the home she would have had), but the quaint living conditions and beautiful location suit her just fine for the moment. In any case, she doesn't spend all that much time there.
There is a loose box outside which Sacheverell mainly uses for storage; occasionally she leases an old sorrel gelding named Pumpkin Patch, from a livery stable at the nearest town, who stays in the loose box. She uses Patchy to get around the local area, for transporting supplies, or just for a nice ride, and recently for teaching and exercising Osraige. She's tried to keep Osraige in the box, but he's somehow found out how to get out of the stable, inside the house, and up the stairs (although he still can't figure out how to get down the stairs, which often poses a problem). She keeps trying though. On bad nights Lóegaire will sometimes curl up inside the loose box if it isn't full.
The most expensive thing Sacheverell owns is her grandfather's old boat, a goodly sized sailboat which she uses in salvaging.

Image

Personality:

Mariana is a deep sea mermaid, at least in her mind. She is beautiful, and knows it. She is a survivor, a conqueror, a competitor. She is built to survive and thrive, and knows that's what makes her a marvelous creature. She's not not one for acting conceited, but give her a compliment, and she'll give you her full attention. She takes good care of herself with preening, but you shouldn't call her vain. She simply likes looking her best, especially if a handsome male happens to be nearby. Her favorite things about herself are her strength, her speed, and her cunning. In her mind, these all culminate into her breathtaking beauty. She is bigger and stronger then many earth Runes, and therefore feels she deserves a little more respect. To her flying is silly. Any little old Rune can fly. But she can dive to the deepest depths of the glorious ocean, and crawl along the bottom of the seabed. And what other rune can do that, but the marvelous Deep Sea Rune?
But Mariana isn't the gloating type. She is extremely outgoing, and friendly. She's happy to make friends and play with other Runes. They're an overall nice bunch, and not too shabby looking, even if they are a little small. This Rune dragon, like all Deep Sea Runes, is very playful - she loves a good game, and has a bit of a prankster streak in her - and curious. Mariana is an explorer. Exploration sings in this dragon's heart, like whale song. Her desire to explore, to uncover, to know about the world is intense. She loves to learn new things, and find new creatures and toys. When facing something new, this Rune is usually one of the first on the scene.
But despite her childlike wonderment and love of fun, this dragon isn't as innocent as she appears. She harbors secrets, like any deep sea creature. Although sociable, Mariana likes to travel alone for the most part, or in a small group. It should be noted that she is a wild animal, and like all wild animals, posses a powerful savagery that is often hidden. Mariana can be vindictive, snappish or even jealous if she doesn't get her way. She likes being in charge, and won't tolerate someone weak taking the lead, and she loathes losing. Mariana is not a particularly helpful dragon. She has very little compassion for anyone who is not a close friend or relative. She sees no reason in going out of her way to help someone, unless there's something in it for her. Sometimes, if only to satisfy her curiosity. She's too young to understand the true importance of family just yet, but the loyalty she displays at times might surprise you.
Being curious, you'd assume Mariana would be very intelligent (after all, the two go hand in hand), and you'd be right. Mariana is very clever. She knows all the ins and outs of living in the ocean. Well, almost all of them. If there wasn't something left unknown, well, life would be pretty dull then. She enjoys being tested in her skills. She loves riddles, like a lot of dragons. And problem solving generally comes easy to her. Mariana also enjoys tests of physical strength and agility, and loves to leap into the air with other sea dragons, like porpoises, twisting and spinning, and surfing the waves. In that sense, you could say she's a bit of a dare devil.
Yes, Mariana is self-centered. She has many traits that aren't exactly considered 'virtues' by humans. But Mariana doesn't care what humans think of her personality. She is an individual. A joy to be around. Her boundless energy and enthusiasm for life are infectious. She is playful, and passionate. A dragon who, when she loves, loves with her whole being.

Quirks:
Mariana has several favorite hobbies and things. First, she likes shiny things, like most runes, and especially mirrors. She also loves toys and puzzles, such as balls, and containers with fish in them, although if the puzzle is too hard, she'll give up and sulk for a while. Her favorite toys are oysters, and balls. She loves playing with a ball in the water. Ones that float are the best. Oysters are a special treat, a puzzle and a tasty morsel all in one! Mariana also enjoys trying to catch seagulls, playing with dolphins, exploring sea caves, and shipwrecks, as well as diving down into the depths, exploring, hunting, and playing 'pineconefish catch' and other games with other Runes. There's something very fun about being evil too, so she sometimes likes to fling sea stars and other little creatures up out of the water, and to scare fishermen by popping up close to their boats. She loves playing with other Runes, whether they're Sea Runes or not. (Although Sea Runes know better games). She also loves discovering new things, and when she finds something new, often gets very excited and her frills stand out a bit.
Things Mariana hates include being hungry, eels (because they're nasty, and don't taste good) Runes who think they're better then her, deception, losing, and being made fun of. She also hates being called by a nickname, like Mari. Bleh. She doesn't like being away from her beloved ocean, although she doesn't mind being on land for a while. But to her land is so boring, and Mariana hates being bored most of all.
Mariana is not a very good flier above the surface. Her wings are mainly good for gliding, although she can flap and fly for a several feet. Her tail is incredibly strong, however, and she uses it to propel herself through the water, and slap enemies and prey. Her eyesight is very good underwater, but above the water, things look somewhat blurred to her. Other peculiarities of this type of Rune include collapsible lungs and ribcage, an adaption for deep diving; anaerobic muscles (meaning they can work without oxygen, unlike ours), the ability to echolocate thanks to an organ in their head called a melon, and a crest with hollow passages that allow the Sea Dragons to make unique singing-like vocalizations. They can dive for up to two hours, thanks to their amazing adaptions, and can dive many fathoms down without being hindered by the massive pressure. They are also the only Rune dragon not susceptible to decompression sickness, or “the bends”, something that plagues all mammals, including marine mammals. Most likely it is with a dash of magic that Mariana can accomplish the amazing feats she does.

Re: Silver Runes and Harts of Oak ~ Eidolon

Postby Silverhart » Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:17 am

Eidolon

Image

Name Eidolon
Origin: It means 'phantom, specter, apparition' or an ideal
Gender: Male
Designed by: Ashenjay
Acquired by: Winning Form
Themes and Inspirations: Kelpie; Celtic; mythology; transformation; tangles; Byronic hero; confidence; tenacity; comfortable in own territory; small size, big personality; at odds with oneself; schadenfreude; lovelorn; dark romantic; fear; a little morbid
Musical Theme(s): “Kelpie” by Jethro Tull

Image

Personality:
He knew himself a villain—but he deem'd
The rest no better than the thing he seem'd;
And scorn'd the best as hypocrites who hid
Those deeds the bolder spirit plainly did.
He knew himself detested, but he knew
The hearts that loath'd him, crouch'd and dreaded too.
Lone, wild, and strange, he stood alike exempt
From all affection and from all contempt.

- The Corsair Lord Byron

Eidolon is not a Rune to be trifled with. Devious and selfish, the Kelpie Rune is an unbridled force to be reckoned with. His heart is wild, and his motives twisted like the weeds tangled in his mane. Lazy and self-interested, this Rune is as likely to love you as kill you, and he doesn't give a kipper what anyone thinks of him.

Eidolon is a wild and impetuous Rune dragon. He is extremely selfish and cares little for anyone but himself. Eidolon enjoys having power over others, especially humans. Rarely are his pranks deadly – as he enjoys seeing them run away screaming in terror - but he would not feel remorse even if they were. If he helps someone, it's most likely to benefit himself, but conversely he won't go too out of his way to case undue harm to others if it means nothing to him. He's too lazy for that. He is a very manipulative Rune, although he doesn't realize it yet, and thank goodness he doesn't or we'd all be in big trouble.

Adaptable and confident, this Rune dragon seems comfortable wherever he goes. He is often very disrespectful, and not afraid to voice his opinions, although almost no one wants to hear them. He is rebellious, reckless, and hates being told what to do. He is a quick and cunning little devil, and one will often find him getting in serious trouble because of it. He seems to have no sense of right or wrong, and is certainly lacking in social etiquette. Eidolon is an opportunist, and will be happy to take advantage of any situation he might be in the position of taking advantage of. But this Rune is also easily frustrated, and if he can't get his way or must work hard to do so, he'll quickly give up and pout about it.

This Rune is a real charmer. Eidolon is a very handsome young Kelpie Rune, and he's not afraid to use his dark charms to break the hearts of many a pretty lady Rune. He is certainly not immune to a pretty young thing, and will pursue his heart's desire with the passion of a starving wolf pursuing it's prey. Eidolon can be soft-spoken, sweet and sincere. He loves epically, but inevitably he will lose interest in his chosen sweetheart and find something more interesting to do. Eidolon is always very genteel and charming to his love interests, but his charms don't work on everyone. That's alright though, since this Rune enjoys a bit of a challenge. His personality is magnetic, attracting attention from those who both loathe him, and find him interesting. He has a trickster's enchantment about him, teetering on the edge of loathing and fascination, and can cunningly win over the more weak-minded to his opinions.

Eidolon is most at home in any body of water. EBut like the water horse of classical tales he prefers moving bodies of water: the ocean, a river, a loch. He detests stagnancy, (in more ways then one) and would much rather be battling deadly currents then basking in a quiet lagoon. He likes being in the water, where he can hide from his prey, and where he is master of the deep. He is a Rune who thrives on chaos.

The Kelpie Rune is a Rune shrouded in mystery. Eidolon doesn't mean to be so secretive, he just doesn't like talking about himself. He doesn't make friends easily, because of his disregard for others, nor is he ever really looking for companionship. Kelpie Runes in generally are loners, but this one seems to tolerate, and at times even enjoy hanging out with other Runes, although he remains very suspicious of humans. Eidolon certainly offers an interesting view of things, as he has a fairly violent mentality. He'll be the one egging on the fight, and laughing at the losers. But despite all this, he is a likable fellow once you get to know him. He can be charming and sweet and fun-loving, or turn on a dime and be a pig-headed bully, or a monster out of a nightmare, hunting you down. He is not a very competitive dragon, as he doesn't really see the point in competition. He's the kind of Rune happy to take a back seat, and let others take the lead, and plot his various schemes from the back of the pack.

But I don't want to give you the wrong idea about this Rune. He isn't completely evil like some, but does posses some redeeming qualities. There is no anger in his heart, in fact he's fairly light-hearted for someone so bad. He loves being wild and free, and is a fierce defender of his waters. (He usually attacks litterbugs, so don't litter!) Eidolon always means what he says. He doesn't see a point in lying on most occasions, or sugar-coating on any, and so is usually brutally honest. He is always true to himself. Eidolon is a true romantic at heart; a dark romantic.

Image

Personality

Ceallach is the younger offspring of Serca and Eidolon. Although taking after his mother in appearance, and being docile and reserved in nature, little Ceallach immediately developed an attachment to his decidedly undocile and unreserved father, Eidolon. Eidolon was never really meant for fatherhood, so he tried to foist the little runt on his mother, but she already had her wings full with their first hatchling. Ceallach loves his father despite this, and seems blissfully unaware of the older Rune's slight contempt for him, thriving on any attention the Kelpie Rune gives him. That isn't to say Eidolon is a terrible father, he just finds his younger son's interest in books, his lack of selfishness, his whole sweet tempered personality baffling in the extreme - if not downright sickening in many instances. In fact Eidolon treats Ceallach more like an annoying pet parrot, whom he tries to ignore whenever possible. Ceallach seems to take this as an invitation to jump on him, and give him surprise hugs, or ride on his back whenever he sees him. He's convinced that despite how Eidolon acts, the Kelpie Rune in fact loves his cuddles (This is not true, but for some reason Eidolon still tolerates this behavior from him - either because it's part of his 'ignore-Ceallach's-existence-as-much-as-possible' attitude, or perhaps he actually has a bit of a soft spot for the little book worm).
Ceallach is as much a contrast to his father as any Rune. Ceallach is quiet, kind, patient, unconditionally loving, and lacking in self confidence. He does not have a malicious or mischievous bone in his body, making him somewhat of a white sheep in a black flock, relating more to his mother, then his brother or his father, but he loves them all greatly.

Ceallach is an artist by nature. Ceallach loves the earthy smell of parchment and leather, the bitterness of the ink, and soft candlelight. He loves books and manuscripts, and loves the swirling intricacies of illumination with the passion of a priest. He dreams of creating something of equal beauty with his own claws, and can be found scribbling on scrap paper in the dusty dark corners of libraries. He's very protective of his work, however, and won't let anyone look at it. He is a perfectionist in the extreme, and gets angry at himself if he can't draw something right. Ceallach is also a scholar, embracing everything he reads, soaking it in like a sponge. He loves words as much as he loves art - to him there is no distinction between the two; every curling letter is as beautiful as a Celtic knot. Ceallach also fancies himself somewhat of an art critic, and is quick to form opinions on just about everything, often overanalyzing their hidden meanings, or making up his own.

Ceallach's outlook on life is one of fear. Yes, the world is beautiful, and wonderful, and magical, but it is also dangerous, scary, and terrifying. Ceallach prefers to avoid fearful things, and live as a hermit holed up in a scriptorium or a library. His anxiety defines his four walls, not allowing him to explore beyond their confines. He's scared of traveling long distances, or meeting new people and depends on his friends like Lóegaire to protect him, and take care of him. He's afraid of judgement of his art, and his ideas, so he tries to stifle his creative urges, but when it gets too much, and Ceallach is just exploding with creative fervor, watch out! He'll start stealing ink and quills and using them to create tiny masterpieces, practicing his illumination skills. His theft is really his one misdeed, but he doesn't really understand that stealing is bad, and no one seems to have bothered correcting him on it.

Ceallach is very shy and reserved. He loves making new friends, but is often too afraid of what they'll think of him to really try. But when he does make friends Ceallach makes friends for life. He is blessed with the good fortune of always seeing the good in people. This might come off as just childlike naïvety, but Ceallach is in no doubt that everyone is filled with some good. Compassionate and gentle, Ceallach loves all forms of life - from giant scary bears, to the tiniest scuttling spider, and he'll often go out of his way to help a creature in need. Ceallach also has a vivid imagination, like most artists, and he sometimes like to make up imaginary friends to play with when he gets lonely. And when he's bored, he'll make up games to play. It's favorites are I Spy and counting things. Ceallach is an introvert, and while he loves spending time with close friends, he loves being by himself just as much. He likes peace and quiet, and hates loud or rowdy situations. If things get out of control, Ceallach can quickly shut down. But this little Kells Rune thrives on love, and with his friends by his side there's nothing Ceallach cannot do.

Ceallach shares many ideals with his beat friend Lóegaire. The two are nearly the same age (although Lóegaire being a Drake grows much faster and is physically and emotionally more mature), and have grown up playing together. Ceallach doesn't seem to realize Lóegaire is so much bigger then he is, and still thinks of him as his playmate. Ceallach taught Lóegaire how to be patient, understanding, and compassionate, while Lóegaire has taught Ceallach not to be so fearful, and about justice, honor and friendship (obviously Eidolon disapproves of Lóegaire's good influence, but then he disapproves of most everything Ceallach does). The two love to play games together, and Lóegaire will sometimes help Ceaalach find the supplies he needs for his artwork, while Ceallach sometimes will pick out books and show their pictures to his big friend. But while Lóegaire is a warrior of action, Ceallach is a warrior of words. He is a peaceful creature, who believes in the power of words; that right word can comfort the sick, give strength to the weak, inspire the ordinary to be extraordinary. And it can give hope. Ceallach is a very hopeful creature. He always worries about things, but hopes that they will get better. His faith in words is very strong, having grown up feed on stories of hope.

Personality

When I first met this little fawn, I was surprised by his calmness and trust. Perhaps it was a childlike innocence, but he allowed me to approach him, and even seemed to be curious about me. I knew immediately that this little fawn was a bold and fearless being.
Osraige is an impulsive, and at times reckless fawn. His initial calmness was misleading - of course I fell for those big baby eyes. This little fawn is a bit of a trouble maker. Osraige is very adventurous - he's a wanderer at heart, always wanting to get out and explore. He can't be contained, and one of his favorite pastimes is finding his way out of places. He's one talented little escape artist. This little Elkrin wants to be out and about and is very active. He has a seemingly endless amount of energy, matched only by his tenacity.

This little Elkrin is no one's prey. Bold and reckless, he has an extreme developing sense of right and wrong. Osraige repays every kindness, and remembers every evil deed. Here his tenacity is a double-edged sword, for once he gets a hold of an idea or opinion he never lets go of it. Extremely headstrong, he is determined in every endeavor, and always gives his all to his passions, which can sometimes make him hard to deal with. Not the kind to stop and think, Osraige is more likely to charge ahead blindly - and it gets him in trouble more often then not. Every adversity for him must be faced with immediate action, and this Elkrin is no pacifist. He has a fighting spirit, and I have often seen him head-butt objects he takes offense to.

Never one to back down from a fight, Osraige is the kind to face challenges head on, chest out and head high. He often charges into a problem without thinking it through all the way. If faced with the Gordian Knot he'd be the one to draw his sword and slice it in half. Oftentimes he can get stuck in one way of doing things, and it may take a lot for him to realize there is more then one solution to a problem.

Osraige is a playful, generally happy little thing. He loves to run and leap and chase things, and I often have to go running after him. He's developed a game of leaping off of high places and trying to fly like a Rune dragon. This causes me no end of worry of course, but the nimble little boy always seems to land on his feet. I hope he'll mellow out in time, but I have no desire to tame and make a pet of him. I enjoy his antics, even when they worry me at first.

When it comes to games Osraige lets others take the lead. He usually plays fair, but as with most corrals he can easily find his way out of most rules if it suits him. He's a good follower, and surprisingly a good listener - but only when you have something to say that he wants to hear. If not, he'll run off to find something more interesting to do. Osraige is not what I'd call obedient. He has a mind of his own, and he's going to use it. He doesn't let others walk all over him. But if you can earn his respect, this Elkrin will follow you to the end of Eldemore and back.

In general, this little Elkrin is good with others. He's outgoing and charismatic, in a quiet sort of way. He's not a very loud Elkrin, preferring to keep his opinions to himself a lot of the time, and let others do the talking, so to speak. But his silence on matters should not be confused with shyness. This is an Elkrin of action, who loves being in the company of other Elkrin, Runes, animals and humans that he trusts. He loves making new friends, and greatly dislikes being all alone.

This noble little creature is strong of heart, even though he is too young and naïve to know it yet. He is still a baby and is frightened by things he doesn't understand. He depends on his friends to be brave, and is very insecure. I suspect his wanderlust may stem from separation anxiety due to some past trauma, and he will need patience and careful conditioning to overcome this fear. What Osraige doesn't understand is that he has courage all his own, and when the time comes he will shine like a star.

Re: Silver Runes and Harts of Oak ~ Reyhurn Albescu

Postby Silverhart » Wed Apr 24, 2013 7:18 am

A Poacher with the Heart of a Player

Image

Yes, that is a squirrel. Ignore the squirrel.

Full Name: Reyhurn Albescu
Nicknames: Reyh/Rey - hates this nickname
Gender: Male
Age: Approximately eighteen

Movement: Reyhurn moves with the exaggerated grace of a player. He puts on a facade of confidence in new situations, but while in comfortable settings he doesn't strut so tall - he walks easily, and passively, hunched slightly in on himself, perhaps a tell to his more vulnerable core. He becomes even more hunched over the more easy he feels. Conversely, when he feels threatened or goes on the defensive, he thrusts out his head and shoulders.
Reyhurn is very expressive with his body, often gesturing to make his point clear. He's not one for throwing his hands about wildly; every gesture has a thoughtful meaning. One thing he never does is swing his arms, but otherwise they, and his shoulders are almost always engaged in movement and conversation, more so then his mouth. He needs to keep his hands constantly occupied, not simply at his sides, and this is exaggerated tenfold when he is nervous or agitated. He usually starts fiddling with his collar or crosses his arms when he doesn't know what to do with them.
Reyhurn is built wiry, and not particularly well muscled. His clothes often hide this fact, purposely making him appear much bulkier. What he lacks in size he makes up in stamina. Reyhurn is, like most humans, built for long distance travel, but he has developed this skill where many others haven't. Like any good hunter, he can lope for miles over easy terrain tracking prey. He's hardly a sprinter, but if he needs to move fast for a burst he certainly can.

Voice: Reyhurn talks with a very exaggerated voice to match his movements. His tone is often loud, and assertive, even when he's being pacific. He knows what he wants to say most of the time, and speaks thusly. Even when he doesn't know what to say, he acts like he does. Sometimes Reyhurn is misinterpreted as a quiet person, rather he prefers to be concise and direct whenever possible. He isn't overly talkative, but given half a chance he will make his opinions very well known. Usually, Reyhurn feels the need to 'dominate' or lead a conversation, even if he is the one in the compromising position (which if you know Reyhurn, he usually is). He always wants to be in control of where the discussion is heading - which can be amusing because he often fails at this. He rarely lets this fact get him down (Alright, so it always gets him down, but he plays it off like it doesn't). He always will fight for the last word, because in a losing war, one must score at least a few battles. Don't even try to match wits with Reyhurn, because even if he isn't that creative in his vocabulary he will keep you talking until you give up, even if he has to repeat himself seventeen times.

Dress: Reyhurn usually dresses for roughing it - his clothes are simple and durable, but well cared for, as Reyhurn can't always afford to replace them. They usually consist of a woolen shirt, trousers, a belt, and boots. He sometimes sports a jacket over his shirt. In bad weather he wears a heavy black sheepskin traveling cloak, and a wide-brimmed hat. His clothes are usually loose, at times almost baggy on him and he likes it that way.

Personality

Meyer Briggs Personality: ESTP

- Dominant - Reyhurn wants to be alpha dog. Perhaps because he is not always the most confident bloke, he feels an overwhelming need to prove that he is capable, in control and strong - in short, a leader. He doesn't seek to always be the leader, but he wants to be recognized as something similar. He was raised to believe that men (specifically him) have to be tough, independent, and strong - the breadwinners, protectors, and leaders. When he can't fill one of those roles he feels shame and frustration at his shortcomings. In fact, a major reason why he left his home was this very feeling; being a second son too young and inexperienced to provide for his family, and too old to be dependent on them. However, if Reyhurn ever stops postulating and pretending to be something he's not, he might just find he's a natural leader, able to take charge and get done what needs doing.
- Actor - All the world's a stage and Reyhurn is merely a player upon it ... or really more he's the understudy; for an extra. Despite his skill at acting his way through life, he remains a minor character in most cases, try as he might to change that. As a child he was never confident in who he truly was, so he would take on whatever role the situation best called for. He carries this odd trait into young adulthood, though he has become somewhat more comfortable in his own skin. He tends to over exaggerate, and over enunciate to make his points - he often rubs his chin when in thought, or pantomimes wildly when excited, or throws his head around like an angry bull when he's arguing over a particularly hot subject. He is very expressive most of the time, but he can also play dead pan very well when the need arises.
- Bull-headed - Stubborn doesn't begin to describe Reyhurn. He is bull-headed to an extreme. He is very set in his beliefs and ways, and it takes a lot to change his mind. Reyhurn doesn't back down from any challenges either, but instead believes that he must be right - and prove that he's right, if he sees any chance that he can. He can often be very self-interested, and tends to be a poor listener. He might hear what you're saying, but he doesn't always listen to what you mean. But there is an upside to his pig-headedness. Reyhurn is tenacious, and not one who gives up easily. He will often try more then one solution to a problem, but he also usually tries them without putting too much thought into it.
- Straight Forward - Reyhurn is a very direct individual. He is often less concerned with emotion, especially other people's. For him, love and friendship are synonymous with duty and mutual respect, rather then affection. Reyhurn extracts more satisfaction from having a good working relationship with someone, then friendship or love. Reyhurn's direct approach to life can sometimes come across as cold, distant, or at times even cynical, which could not be further from the truth. When Reyhurn has a task, he does his best to see it through. He doesn't always have the motivation to see them all the way through, but he can settle for 'doable' rather then 'perfect'. When he does find motivation you can be hard pressed to stop him. Reyhurn doesn't give in easily. And if he can't finish a task, he finds another way or starts a new project instead. Reyhurn enjoys the simple pleasures of life and makes no attempt to hide it.
- Animated - Reyhurn has liveliness and a zest for life. He is expressive, extroverted, and action-oriented. He enjoys being outdoors; running through the forest, hunting, climbing trees, and other physical activities. He enjoys comedy, and often will indulge in some witticisms himself; in dire situations may try to lighten the mood. He is generally easy to make smile, and quick to laugh. Reyhurn tends to overreact in a lot of situations. Someone says the wrong thing, or makes a mistake, or he makes a mistake, and can't find anyone to blame, or stubs his toe or what have you. When this happens he starts huffing, or turns very (annoyingly) sarcastic, and if the situation only gets worse he raises his voice, gestures wildly, tosses insults or throws a 'tantrum' and refuses to acknowledge whatever, or whoever is making him upset. Although for the most part he tends to avoid this last one, as his stamina for yelling has increased since he was four years old. He also does not like being disagreed with - how he deals with the situation depends on the person he's arguing with. His usual defense is either to argue the person down, or guilt them into admitting that he's right. If neither of these actions work, he gets sulky. He also prefers to have the last word in any disagreement - it makes him feel superior, and puffs up his ego a bit, even if he didn't actually win the argument. In fact, Reyhurn hates arguing, and would rather not fight, but feels it is more important to be right, than avoid conflict.
- Dependable - If you need a dependable man, look no further. Reyhurn is as trustworthy as they come. He is steadfast, and honest, and always does right by others. Even when he feels cheated, he demands compensation publicly, rather then resorting to petty theft, or other low handed methods. He believes in treating people fairly, unless they give a reason to not be. He might not always be the best of friends, but you can count on Reyhurn to never turn on his companions, and to always be as upright and fair as he can be. Although, it's too be said that sometimes what he sees as right doesn't always match up to everyone else's. Reyhurn is still somewhat immature, generally putting himself ahead of others or refusing to take responsibility for certain actions. However, he is still moral, and understand duty and honor.

Brief History:
Reyhurn was born into a modest family, the third child of five. His mother was a Rune Bearer, and his family worked their own small farm. When he was eight, his father left to join the army, leaving Reyhurn's older brother and sister to take care of him, his younger brothers and mother. When the farm started to fail after a few years, Reyhurn and his brothers resorted to other methods of securing food for their family, doing odd jobs around the town, poaching in the forest, handling other farm work. Eventually Reyhurn decided against following his father, and becoming a solider. He instead opted to set off to seek his fortunes, and joined a group of traveling troubadours. He originally joined their caravan simply to have some protection on the road; in exchange for food and shelter he did odd jobs. He quickly fell in among them, making friends, and learning more about the craft. He loved watching their acts, and sometimes joined in the fun, usually as a barker. He quickly developed an interest and passion for music and acting. ... Work in Progress

Interests: Music from different places, Archery, Hunting, Swordsmanship (he's never held a real sword in his life, but he would give anything to learn), Playacting, Theater, Art of Illusion (can't do any himself, but enjoys watching it), Trying new foods, Visiting new places, Monetary gain, Solitude, Gadgets and taking things apart
Enjoys Sweets, Dogs and cats (he's one of those rare dog-and-cat people), Hazelnuts, Chestnuts, Pretty much any nuts, except peanuts which are technically legumes, Card games, Mountain vistas, and Trees.

Fears:
Horses - Reyhurn actually has a fear when it comes to horses, as he's been bitten by several. It's more of a stubborn dislike of horses then an actual fear, but he refuses to ride one and hates being around them - he's somewhat suspicious of any large animal - horses, cattle, elkrin and drakes.
Motion sickness - he's prone to it, and usually gets really sick because of it. He feels it makes him appear weak, so he tries to avoid those situations that may trigger it, especially any sort of sailing, carriages or vehicles. Plus, anyone who has ever had really bad motion sickness can tell you it just makes you feel absolutely terrible.
Anything involving decapitation, hanging, disembowelment, burning at the stake, falling on spikes; basically anything involving nasty ways to die - but then who isn't really? Reyhurn will never be a martyr for anyone or anything.
Crowds - Reyhurn is terrified of crowds of people. This harkens back to a particular episode in his childhood, when during a festival things turned ugly and Reyhurn got caught in a mob, unable to control where he was going, and experienced a debilitating panic attack. You'd think traveling with a group of troubadours would have cured this, but it's not performing in front of a crowd that frightens Reyhurn. He enjoys being the center of attention, and feels confident when in control of a crowd. Rather it's when he loses that control that he panics. In any situation he feels he loses control Reyhurn becomes terrified, but it is only in crowd situations that he truly panics.

Goals:
Fame and Fortune - It isn't so much that he wants to be famous, Reyhurn would just like to be recognized for being valuable to a group. He'd also love to make enough money to buy and farm his own land. In reality though. Reyhurn would truly just like to be rich and live the high life away from lots of people.
Swordfighting - wouldn't it just be so awesome to learn sword fighting and just beat up all the wrong in the world? Hardly needs an explanation. Swords are just awesome.

Occupation: Workingman, farmhand, woodsman, shepherd, performer, hunter/poacher; a bit of a 'jack-of-all-trades-master-of-none' type, picking up most new skills quickly. He's happy so long as he's working outdoors, and not adverse to bending some rules to make his way. He travels from place to place working as a day laborer, usually on farms, and supplements that by doing odd jobs. Most of his money comes from hunting and selling the meat and skins.

Home: Reyhurn migrates between towns and villages looking for work, usually staying on his temporary employer's land at a campsite or in the barn. He is a nomad, which he has mixed feelings about. On the one hand he loves seeing new places, meeting new people, trying his hand at new things, everyday is a new adventure! - but on the other he finds it very tiring. He longs for a warm bed to rest his head every night; a welcoming abode after every adventure. And the pride and monetary security a parcel of fertile land can provide.

Elkrin:
none at the moment
