Name; Nagarask (the second "a" is short and there is a silent "h" sound between the second "a" and the "s," so the correct pronunciation is "nah-gah-rah-sk")
Gender; Male
What does he do as a hobby/career;; He is sort of like a tour guide and a valet, and maybe even a
concierge, combined. You go to Egypt and sign up with the right company (a hotel, through a travel agent), and you get your own little
pack-mule travel buddy for the duration of your stay in Egypt. He knows where to go, he knows how to get you what you need, he knows everything! He can help you wend your way quickly through the markets/bazaar (he's quite adept at slinking through crowds, sort of like, well, a snake), and how to spot the scams from the deals. NO, don't touch that! Those artifacts are obviously fake! Stay close by his side, Egypt can be a dangerous place; the merchants are ruthless and can
smell weakness. It's alright, he'll protect you from their shady ways. They know him well enough; he's always ruining what would have been excellent deals for them, hissing and glaring at them and pushing their would-be customers away. Shame on them for trying to cheat
his wards. *wags finger*
He can show you the monuments, the pyramids, the Sphinx, all that cliche stuff you came to see, but if you're lucky enough to
ask the right questions, he just might show you a different side of Egypt, off the beaten path, all the wonders most tourists never get to see. After a long day under the broiling sun, he'll take you back to the hotel, where you can wind down and have a sumptuous dinner made up of native delicacies. And he also makes a
mean plate of
sweet couscous, so don't be afraid to ask for dessert!
His job can be quite tiring, surrounded by thousands of people at all times of the day. That, and the ignorance of the tourists (not you, though, no, of
course not), tends to chip away at a bean's patience. He doesn't exactly enjoy having to mollycoddle some first-world foreigners; he just wishes he could have a few more
knowledgeable travelers to show his world to. Overall, he enjoys his job; he's always getting to see the same stuff every day, yeah, but it never gets any less exciting. The ruins are no less impressive, the markets are no less interesting, and there's always,
always some strange new thing being shipped in from exotic and faraway lands. And he gets to see it all. Now all he needs is a day off.
Man, if I had posted this sooner instead of letting it sit, I would've been first to post this idea. Forget it. He is a tour guide. Not the best job for him, perhaps, but then it's not exactly his dream job; he gets it done, and done well, however, so it's all good. He takes tourists and the like around the ruins of ancient Egypt (pyramids, monuments, the Sphinx and whatnot) and even to the markets/bazaar. (Do they call them "bazaars" in Egypt? I do not know...) He's learned the histories pretty much by heart, and rattles them off in a way that at least attempts not to sound bored.
