He is deathly afraid of narwhals. Most of the people don't know they are real, so another reason to put him down. Most believe that narwhals are the stuff of fairy tales; a single horn on the top of their head. But in reality narwhals have that 'horn' as just a really long tooth instead.
I mentioned him being put down alot. You see, ever since he has been young, the majority of his school makes fun of him. They think they can do that because one: he's pink. Most people believe that if you wear pink or have pink, you're gay. Two: he actually does have a liking towards men, and has always never liked girls. Three: he has a plushie he drags around with him.
He is shy because most people dislike him and jeer at him and call him names and put him down and pick on him and beat him up and gossip about him.

Yukio has an orca plushie. Why an orca? Because the polar bears were out.
Once upon a time, the Mori family was visiting a zoo. Yukio was a baby then. His mother had split off from the group, bringing her only son with him. They were going on a quest to find some treats-kettle corn to be exact. Daisy-let's call her mother Daisy for now, although that is not her name- set Yukio down as she payed for the bag of kettle corn. Being the curious boy he used to be, he wandered off to the narwhal exhibit. He got scared. Those tusks were the main reason. He ran crying to Daisy. After that scene, Daisy bought him an orca plushie. Because the polar bears were sold out. "Orcas hunt the narwhals. They eat them!" Daisy told her son. Being young still, he was into that 'eating' and 'hunting' stuff. He has taken great comfort from it since.
