BK Name: Leyla
Gender Mare
Height: 17.0hh
Age: Three years
Short personality: Leyla is a shy but yet outgoing mare. She's young but she has the attitude of someone with much experience. She is a soft spoken bayou kelpie that is often lost of words. She doesn't scare easily but can have a mean temper when she is being provoked or irritated. Calming and assertive, she tends to take on a motherly role when she is around anyone younger than her. Leyla doesn't boast or take advatange of her beauty, finding it to be self centered and cruel. Instead, the mare finds herself building other's self a steam. Leyla is one who gives but really never wants anything in return, odd but yet she loves helping out others just to make them feel good about themself when they feel down.
Story:
A cool breeze ticked the whiskers on the chin of a newborn foal. The brindle roan filly lay down in the long grass, hidden from the sight of any predators looking for a easy meal. Tiny stripped horse protruded from her head, but small and hardly noticable. When her senses told her she was safe, she tried to stand. Her first attempt resulted in her landing on her belly with a squeal.
"Come on Leyla." A soft nudge from a bay mare comforted her and encourgaged her to try again.
Leyla tried again, she managed to stand but on shaky legs. One hoof, then the next, she took her first few steps as she did her best to keep up with the large kelpie mare beside her. The filly blinked, adjusting to the different lighting from the small sunny clearing to the dim lighting of the bayou. Different sounds reached her ears as she walked, she knew none of them for now.
It was early spring in the bayou, Leyla was told this as she spotted another kelpie. He was a larger brindle with vibrant green eyes. Leyla did not feel intimidated by him at all, but instead felt the sense of security and family. Feeling confident now, she quicked her pace, stumbling a few times as she passed her mother who was smiling. Leyla's father towered over her, though only because she was so young, in time she would reach his height.
~A few years later~
Finding a place for quiet seemed impoosible to the kelpie. She grumbled as she walked around, mainly in large circles without knowing it. The brindle mare stopped and looked around with blue eyes. She pinned her ears slightly before relaxing and thinking. Leyla smiled when she realized that it was quiet, you just needed to tune things out. She jumped when a loud sound came from her right. She backed up only for her horns to hit a low branch. A laugh came from the same direction until she spotted the source of the sound, another kelpie.
Leyla had never been one to truely socialize with others, she was often too shy at first and kept her distance, longing for the company at the same time. She smiled to herself mostly as she watched the stallion make his way towards her, a innocent and friendly look about him.
"Did I startle you?" he asked her, a small amount of amusement in his voice.
"No," it wasn't a complete lie, the noise had caused her to tune back into her surroundings instead of tuning them out. She watched the stallion, keeping her gaze locked on his until finally she looked down.
"Shy aren't you? Well, I'm Crius, I live around these areas."
Leyla spoke, her gaze slowly making it's way back up to the kelpie now know as Crius. "I'm Leyla, I just wonder around mostly." she said to him in response.
"I didn't expect someone like you to be alone, you don't look like the type to keep to themselves, Leyla. "
"Well, I don't like being crowded but I like company depending on the type of company." the response was quite blunt, she wondered if this stallion was already trying to sterotype her. She sighed and then turned to go.
"Well, would you like some company or would you rather stick to solitude?"
A tiny smile spread across the mare's face. "Hmph. Sure, I wouldn't mind some company." Leyla told him.
"My mother told me plenty of stories that could entertain you for a few hours......"
Hope this isn't too long. Crius is also my bk stally.
