I swear I heard the ocean from the moment I hatched from my egg. That sweet sound of the waves called to me, beckoning for me to join them. I knew that was my home. The name is Heralia, partially named after my great-grandmother, Hera. She was different, an adventurous JBD, and the sound of natures called to her, just like me. This is my story, and why I am sitting on the sandy shores of the ocean on this heavenly day, watching the crashing of waves hit the rocks, its like music to my ears.

From the moment I hatched from that egg, they knew I was different then my kind, I didn't have exactly the same features as the rest of them. A big difference was my tail, the end was not fluffy, but it was replaced with a fin. My front legs were different as well, none of my other JBD's I knew had these appendages attached them paws. My ears were shaped different as well, having three bumps down the side of them. Another big different was my horn. I had one, but, well... its not like the other JBD's! It was a solid white spiraling horn in the middle of my head, it was quite the sight. Other told me it looked like a unicorn horn, but I just shook my head to the idea, not ever assuming once that this horn was a unicorns horn. Though, for all time time growing up, one of the main things on my mind was to figure out who I was, why I was different. I also wanted to figure out what my horn came from, I wanted to know what species had the same horn. Maybe if I could find the species that resembles similar to my horn, maybe then I could find the answers.

During that time growing up, I spent most of my days wandering around the forest near our home with the other JBD's. Even though I said I heard the crashing of the waves against the rocks when I hatched, it was all in my head. There wasn't an ocean near by. The closest thing that came to 'big water' was the two lakes that were near us. One of the lakes, the smaller of the two, was in the field. It got filled up when the rain came, which was often. This lake was mostly used to gather water for us all to drink. Though, the other lake, wasn't visited much. It was on the other side of the forest, so it was a pretty long hike up to it, which is why most JBD's don't bother to go to it. Plus another thing was, the water was not as calm. This lake had is water get feed from a fast flowing stream that branched into it. The turning of the water, the small waves crashing up against the sides, was noisy and scary to the other JBD's. To me, it sounded like home.
