Pure Dragon
Name of AGD:
Nanook
Gender:
Male
Personality:
Fiercly independant is the first thing that comes to mind when one mentions Nanook. He lives alone and rejects any companionship or help. He is cool-headed and highly intelligent, often observing and manipulating in order to achieve his goals. He stuffs away any emotions other than vengefulness, which will swing into full force if his pride is insulted. Many will say that Nanook is like a deep river: on the surface calm and flowing, but deeper his thoughts swirl turbulently and what lies below is difficult to see.
History/Short Story:
Nanook was once, as all of us, a newling. To him the world was new and facinating, and the best things in it were his parents and his older brother. Nanook adored his older brother and admired him deeply. His brother was big, strong, and confident. Nobody got in his way - if they did, they would last long. Nanook followed his big brother, play-fought with him, and talked with him for hours. It seemed, to him, that they had a very close bond.
But the bond, in truth, was not mutual. As Nanook followed his brother, the AGD wove through the forest, trying to lose his unwelcome shadow or get him tangled up in thorns. As Nanook laughed tryed to squirm away from his brother's play-fighting grip, the brother thought of tearing out the young one's throat. As Nanook talked, and talked, and talked, his brother only pretended to listen. His brother dreamed of how he could be rid of this nuisance.
One day Nanook was talking to his brother and asked, "Brother, how can I grow up to be like you?" His brother sighed. Then, slowly, a grin spread across his face. "Let me show you, Nanook. Follow me." Nanook, excited to go on an adveture, followed his brother. They walked into the river and down the middle, following the current. A roar echoed in the distance, growing louder as they approached. A rock jutted out of the water ahead, and Nanook's brother lifted him by the scruff and put him on the rock before climbing onto it himself. "Look down!" He said. Nanook did. They were at the top a a mighty waterfall. The water pounded down onto the rocks below. "I don't understand, brother. How does this help me to be like you?" Nanook's brother replied, "You don't need to understand, little one." Nanook looked up, confusion forming a frown. Suddenly his brother once again grabbed him by the scruff, and before Nanook could ask what he was doing, the cub was thrown over the side. He was falling, falling, falling... suddenly he hit something hard and pain bloomed at the back of Nanook's head and everything blacked out. At the top of the falls, his brother stood with a look of satisfaction, thinking Nanook could not have survived. He turned and headed back down the river.
Nanook was floating down the lower river, unconcious. Eventually the currents laid him on a pebbly shore, and in the cold of night Nanook awoke. His head was throbbing and tried to remember....yes. His brother, his beloved brother, had tried to murder him. Nanook's heart broke and he lay on the pebbles, sobbing at the horrible thing his brother had tried to do to him. And when he was done, he resolved: he would never love anyone again. They, too, might betray him. Nanook's caring innocence hardened. He stood and looked back. The waterfall - and his family - were very far away. But he didn't need them. He didn't love them anymore. Nanook turned and walked into the forest, to live life alone.
What will you do with him once you have adopted him?:
Hopefully I will have time to draw him often (though I haven't had much this year, I should have time during the summer at least) and I will also RP with him if a good one is started up. I may try to find him a mate, but I'm not sure about that... I don't think his personality will do good in his love life. c; At the least, I'll make him a CharaHub page (like the ones for Michelle and Anthony, links in my signature) to keep all his info in one place.
