Story:
I stood at the summit of the mountain that was still covered with snow, and looked out at the mountain range. I kept moving. I was being followed and they were coming on quickly, so I didn’t have time to rest. I trotted up the trail and looked behind me, I could hear dogs. I headed off the trail and cantered along. I took shelter in a heavily wooded area to see how close they were. I stood behind a tree, barely moving, watching for the sign of movement. I wasn’t going to lie; I was scared out of my wits! There was hardly a hunter that could even come close to me, as there were many that tried to capture me but none had worried me that would succeed. And I had enough escape routes to match each hunter. So seeing as I had humans chasing me often I lived alone in the mountains, not able to protect a herd and not wanting to try and put an equid in danger.

But exactly how these hunters had managed to follow me up some of my most dangerous escape routes amazed me. I had managed to evade them long enough to get a good distance away but they never seemed to stop. I lifted my head at the first sound of the dogs and bolted through the trees. I pumped my legs as I headed up a steep slope that would lead me into the dry part of the mountains. I just have to get them lost, I told myself, just long enough to get as far away as possible. But it seemed that they could follow me everywhere, up every rocky cliff and over every neck breaking overhang. I ran along the dry, dead grass and rocks jutting out of the ground. I could hear them at the base of the slope and the dogs were getting closer. I made it to a huge rock and climbed up it, and my legs and lungs burned but I kept climbing.

Once I reached the top I looked down the incline and the dogs has already reached the rock, and they swarmed around the entire rock as they tried to get to me but none of them could get up without cutting themselves on the boulder’s edges. So they just ran around stupidly and barked at me as the hunter rode up on their horses. I snorted and backed away from the edge, so they couldn’t get me with their ropes. All I cared about was resting so I balanced on three legs as I lifted up one at a time to loosen up for when I had to flee. The dogs had quieted but they still ran around to growl at me. I was curious what they were doing so I walked over to the edge just to see what they were doing, and I was met with a dog trying to pull it’s self up as it snapped at me. I had backed away just in time but I knew that it was time to move, so I half slid and half jumped down the back side and took off again. I made it a few strides before the barking started and the dogs caught up. I could feel their hot breath as they howled and snapped at my legs and tail. As I got to the top one grabbed hold of my black tipped tail so I gave that mutt a good punt that sent him back down the slope. I looked around for getaway options, but more of the dogs caught up and I had to deal with them. I kicked one and sent the other off with a bite and then had to throw one off my back.

Options, I need options! I thought as I fended the dogs off. There! I saw a treacherous looking path that was just down the other side. I took it, after escaping the dogs, and galloped down the trail as it swerved around and lead me into a new part of the mountain. As I turned around a rock I knew I had made a mistake. There wasn’t a single route that I could find that would lead me anywhere away from the humans, and not to mention the huge mountain ridge in front of me that was the steepest of it’s kind. I slid to a stop in front of it and sized it up. I could make it but I needed to rest first if I was going to get at least halfway up. But as I looked behind me I knew that there wasn’t a chance of that happening as two hunters rode around and blocked what could be my only exit. I paced along the ridge, looking for some way up and over to safety. I had almost found a path I could take when the dogs came around the corner. I could handle the humans but the dogs were built to attack. I jumped up the slope just as the dogs reached me. I scaled it, finding the footholds I needed, and left the hunters and dogs behind. When I glanced back I saw a hound had managed to follow me and its drooling jaws came closer and closer. I lost my focus and missed a foothold. I slid down the rock with the dog close by, but I wasn’t giving up. In a split second I had found myself a new route and once I caught myself I leapt up the rest until I was standing on top the ridge. I looked back, and the humans and dogs just stood to watch me as I disappeared down the other side. After I got a good distance away I trekked far into the mountains and stayed in a hidden valley to recuperate from that rough chase. ( 982 words )

Equid's name: Endeavour

Age: 3 years
Gender: Stallion
Story: (This story is told from the point of view of Calypso, the other named equid in this story is Saylore)

It had been a lovely day, seriously just beautiful. My darling Saylore and I had been out; she was getting so big, and the lovely day made both of us antsy. So after quite a bit of begging on Saylore's part, we agreed to go for a walk; in some of her labeled: 'Uncharted Territories'. I of course knew where we were going but I didn't want to ruin the fun of childhood and played along with her adventure. We had been strolling, well if you count fleeing giant squirrels and fighting rouge bachelor bands as strolling, for awhile when we discovered the cave. I had never seen it before even though it stood right off a path I traveled so many times. Saylore stuck to my side as we entered, but soon left it when she figured danger had passed. She skittered about, kicking her heels and jumping off rocks. I stood and watched her joy and observed the cave. Neither of us where aware of what was to happen, and we never could have been prepared.

Like rain clouds of a fast moving storm, he clattered into our happy resort. And like in a storm, Saylore appeared at my side like the lightning flashing in the distance. I turned and shielded her from the stallion with my body. But it was unneeded as we watched him gasping for breath, totally unaware that he shared this sanctuary with a mare and foal. It was the way his ears, were perked for noise and how he was trying to stifle gasps; that I felt pity for the stallion. It was uncharacteristic and it shocked me but looking at what state he was in I couldn't help it. So I decided to find out what and who he was.

"Um... Do you need help?" I asked, my tail curling around Saylore, trying to sound deeply concerned.

"WHA- I mean no. Well I don't think so, not anymore. Now that I-" He answered, starting and stopping like Saylore trying to listen to her stomach growl and talk before breakfast. "You didn't happen to see what I was running from did you?"

"No. I-" I tried to say but my daughter must have decided he was safe.

"Hey! You sure I cool lookin'! I like your mane and your nose. Heehee" Saylore ended her opening line with a giggle.

Surprise flicked in his eyes, and he looked to me then to her. Flattening my ears in warning, I claimed what was mine. He took it in stride, and this time instead of charm; he was speaking with generosity.

"Well, you know I have to say I like your mane better myself. Looks like you get that from your momma," He grinned. "Now I bet your curious about who I am and what daring feat brought me into your companionship. Aren't you?"

"Ooooh yes!! I mean please, sir?" Saylore gasped, and just in time remembering her manners.

"Alright. I am Endeavour, and this is how I got here..."

And so he told his story...

"I was fighting on a pirate ship in Santiago Bay when I heard of the wild herds of my kind that lived in the mountains. It struck me as a new adventure as soon as it hit my ears. Wild Equids living happily in the mountains didn't sound to exciting but meeting gorgeous mares and pretty little fillies sound brilliant to me. So amidst the shining of swords and the rushing sounds of cannons; I met eye with my buddy and we managed to slip off the ship of rouges. He thought my idea of mountain climbing was dull and when we docked on the shores of a desolate and beautiful place, I knew he would be wrong. Trying to convince him to travel out of only town for miles and into the vast wilderness beyond was impossible; so I said my farwell and dashed into my adventure.

The first sign of wild herds was after I had galloped for days, past the foothills and well into the mountain. The first herd I stumbled across was led by a snake-like stallion who guarded his family fiercely but let me stay a few nights. After leaving them, I trotted for a fortnight meeting herds and family bands, staying here there and everywhere. Never put for too long.

I had been staying with a larger herd, with many bird-like-quids' and they told me of a horror. They told me of a pack of wolves lead by a brute larger than the tallest equid. It had been hunting their mares and foals; and I knew I had to end this herd's suffering. So the next morning the showed me where the pack lived and I plunged into the cove. I was instantly surrounded by wolves, but none where as big as what the birdquids had told me. I doubted they were a threat until the pushed me in front of the alpha. I knew it was him, the one the spoke of. And I knew I had to fight him. Leaving him no time to say anything, and no time to think; I pounced. Staying clear of his paws, I got on his back and bit at his neck and kicking with every ounce of muscle. It took nearly 3 hours to finish the beast but I killed it with a final kick, and standing over the pack I reared. Raging with fury, they forced me into a gallop and chased me. Nearly half a day passed, before I spotted a cave and dashed in. The pack must have gave up, because I am here with you and the pack is no where to be found."

It wasn't until after the fact that we found out Endeavour had been chased in by other stallions, like a dog with it's tail between it's legs. But it was too late he and Saylore made the best of friends and then he just had to stay.

Equid's name: Adalric
Height: 14,2 hh
Age: 12 years
Gender: Stallion
Story: Adalric took a single step backward, his hoof teetering precariously on the edge of the precipice. Small rocks dislodged by his weight skittered down the rough surface, taking the long fall that no living being could possibly hope to survive. His mind raced as he desperately searched for an answer for the dangerous predicament he had managed to get himself into. A low growl from the throat of the mountain lion crouching in front of him mere metres from his muzzle snapped him back to attention. To his back was a rather large fall, and to his front crouched a sleek predator, its skin taunt from hunger. No matter plan he played on in his mind, Adalric could hardly see this situation turning out well…

Two hours ago, Adalric could have scarcely imagined the chain of events that evolved that brought him here. The morning had started normal enough, as he had simply awoken to crop grass in his lush mountain valley. The appearance of a female human had taken him by surprise, and from there, the day had simply spiraled downwards. The female had simply appeared from nowhere, suddenly showing up in his small haven. He had jerked his head up in surprise, turning to the female who, it should be noted, looked just as surprised; if not more. She stumbled backwards, eyes wide as she gasped, gawking at the stallion in front of her. In a flash he had disappeared, galloping into the mountains he had traversed his entire life. Although not a young stallion, Adalric was just as agile and sure-footed as any of the youngsters, and scaled the mountain side with ease. The human was left on her own, still in silent shock from her encounter.

Not an hour later, a cry for help echoed through the mountains. Adalaric was torn between maintaining his distance and rushing to the aid of this strange creature. In the end, his protective personality had won out, and he had cantered through the mountain passes, reaching the source in of the scream in a matter of moments. It was there he had found her, huddled against a rock wall, facing down an amber-pelted mountain lion. In a moment of pure adrenaline, he had thrown himself forward, striking the predator hard upon the shoulder with his hoof. His action did not go unheeded, and the cat had swung its snarling muzzle to face him, its eyes filled with pain from the wound and the desperation of hunger. Realizing the mistake he had made, Adalric took a step backwards, leading him to his current position…

Now, Adalric swung his head around, trying to see any way out of his predicament. It appeared hopeless, at best. The predator proceeded forward, its tail lashing and muzzle twisted in a snarl as it locked eyes with its prey. Intimidation was hardly an option now; the hoof on its shoulder would have done that. Instead, Adalric would have to rely on his own wits to wrestle his way from here. Glancing over his shoulder, he carefully eyed the ledge, keeping a watch on the mountain lion out of the corner of his eye. It would find its courage any moment now, and would strike him down unless he acted quickly. Looking over his shoulder, Adalric spotted his potential salvation.

Turning back to the predator, Adalric trumpeted loudly, striking his hood against the ground in one last futile attempt at intimidation. As predicted, the cat did little more than blink as it crept forward, bunching its muscles in preparation to dispatch its prey. It’s now or never, Adalric realized, watching the cat. Taking in a deep breath and gathering his courage, Adalric turned and threw himself from the rock ledge. Above him, the mountain lion yowled in frustration, pawing at the thin air as Adalric disappeared from view. Below, Adalric heaved a sigh of relief as his hooves hit the small, solid ledge, saving him from an otherwise crippling fall. The predator still pawed at the air, pacing along the ledge, but it wouldn’t be long until he turned back to easier prey; the human.

Determination filled Adalric as he slowly began to scale the small rise, careful not to misstep. To fall now would almost certainly be fatal, in which case he would be absolutely no help to the female; or anyone else, for that matter. He managed to climb it quite quickly, but it seemed painstakingly slow to him as he thought of the creature’s life that was hanging in a fine balance. Finally, he pulled himself on the ledge to find the cat still pacing, and the human slowly inching her way away from the predator. The sound of Adalric’s hooves must have alerted the mountain lion, for it turned, its eyes glinting with hatred. Before it could move though, Adalric paced forward, snaking his head aggressively at the beast. The mountain lion took a step back, only to find him in the same position Adalric himself had been in only minutes ago.

Adalric struck his hoof down once more, than took a single step to the side, enough for the cat to slink by. It was a simply gesture, with a simple meaning; your life, in exchange for ours. Adalric had no desire for it to escalate back into death and violence, and so was offering the predator a choice. Its eyes flicked uncertainly from Adalric to the gap, and then it darted forward, disappearing once again into the mountains. Adalric gave a snort as he followed its progress, and then turned with pricked ears towards the human. She appeared to have mostly recovered from her ordeal, and was sitting against the rock. She regarded Adalric with a mixture of awe and gratitude, and remained sitting as she rested. Adalric slowly made his way forward, stretching out his muzzle to the hand she raised. Perhaps it was true that every cloud had a silver lining, for Aldaric had found himself a companion…

Equid's name: Killian Killid. {KK}
Height: 14,2 hh
Age: 3 years
Gender: Stallion
Story: The Adventures of Killian Killid.
Killian wandered through the forest, the pale moonlight flooded through the trees, splattering the forest floor in white light. He had been following something, a rabbit, he presumed. He pretended to be a courageous soldier, defending his land from a ferocious beast, with hideous fangs and horns that curled like the devil's. He was wearing shining armor, bold red paint stained his mane as he courageously went off to battle the beast, save his lands, and come back to his faire mare. He would not rest until she was safe. He charged through the forest, snorting. His head was held high, proud to be on such a dangerous mission. And there it was, the rabbit nibbled on the grass, taunting him. It's small, beady eyes stared him down. He reared up, showing he was not afraid. He charged, daring the beastly rabbit to strike at him. He could hear the taunting in his head. The rabbit squeaked in terror, hopping off in a dash. "HaHA! Triumph! Your not getting away that easily, you cursed beast!" Killian though, galloping after the monstrosity. He struck his hooves into the ground, the rabbit dashed from bush to bush. Until it was cornered. The trees dwindled, rocks the size of bears took their place. The rabbit could not flee from him, no, not this time. "Time to meet your doom!" he though triumphantly. He charged at it, until the beast did the most dreadful thing. It ran straight for him. Killian was unprepared, and in his thoughts, he lost his bravery. He jumped up, out of the way, whinnying in terror as the beast rampaged towards him. The bunny disappeared into the forest, living to battle another day.

Killian went back to his mountain home, his castle. He could not find his mares, and even worse, his only true love was also gone. He kept calm, as they must be around. He search for every trace of them. He found the hoofprints, but a stranger had moved them. He recognized the prints, heavyset and held the stench of Hatcher, a big, black devilish stallion who had always given him trouble about his mares. Forgetting his knightly armor and war paint, Killian envisioned himself going out West, with only a pair of dueling pistols. They were going to settle this, the Stallion's way. He rode long into the night, never stoping to rest. He finally saw them, his mares, under the watchful eye of Hatcher. He snorted, announcing his presence. The sky was rosy with the coming dawn. He separated Hatcher from his mares, but he wasn't finished here. he turned to face his rival, his eyes narrowed. Hatcher looked like the devil himself. He had been waiting for Killian. This was his game, but it would be his last. The two started to throw around words, bickering and calling at eachother, back and forth until Killian had heard enough. "Step Down, Hatcher." he said strongly. He stomped his hoof threateningly, he meant business. Hatcher flicked his tail in a fool's delight. "Not to you. Never." And just like that, all hell broke loose. The two stallions began firing wild hooves at each other, kicking and biting furiously. Blood dripped down Killian's gray neck. In a sudden rage, he turned, kicked his back legs and lights out for Hatcher, The black stallion that had forever challenged him lay dead in the dirt. He snorted his victory, turning to the admiration of his mares. And there she was, his sweet Anna, his only love. She was safe at last, and he gently kissed her cheek. He gathered his mares, leading them home in a joy. The Knightly cowboy had kept his family and love safe or another day.
{He is absolutely Gorgeous, Lillian! Love the nose, he is adorable! He would make a perfect first Equid.}

Happy Birthday :3

Username: athenian dragon.
Equid's name: Angel with a Shotgun
Height: 14,2 hh
Age: Four and a half years of age.
Gender: Stallion
Story: This was the day. I needed to escape, to fly like an angel from this place where I had been kept. Oh, the two legged creatures knew that I could jump high and far, like my namesake, and they had built a tall wooden structure that blocked me from simply sailing over. Pale grey horses are docile, they had said, more than the others. But I wasn’t an ‘angel with a shotgun’ for any reason. Unlike some of the pitiful and outrageously timid horses that I was kept with, I had personality. And now I was determined to escape.
“A terrible idea!” whinnied my fellow pasture-mate when I suggested that he accompany me to the outside world. I knew that there was something out there for me. I didn’t know what it was, but there had to be some reason I didn’t look like the other horses, with my spindly legs that weren’t any good for the two legged creatures to ride me, and my long tail that was more comparable to that of a cat than a horse. Domestication changed horses. It made them lose their personalities and courage. The horses with me were so boring, with no wish to explore the outside world. I knew that there had to be something different. There must be others like me. The other horses watched anxiously as I approached the gate. Like them, domestication had made me lethargic, and if I had not heard that loud, high-pitched whinny echoing from the mountains some weeks ago, I would have been fated to stay in this prison forever. I could leap over. It was surely nothing compared to what my wild relatives had to face.
I tensed my legs and leapt forward. Not high enough; I crashed into the gate with a loud slam that caused the horses around me to skitter backwards, the whites of their eyes showing their terror. A long cut had opened up across my chest, and I had to get out of here soon, or it would surely lead trails. To my dismay, I could hear the voices of the two legged creatures behind me, shouting in alarm. You have to do this! I whinnied to myself. Before I knew it, I had cleared the fence. It was so strange, being on the other side of what I had known my entire life. I was looking at the dismal jail of the other horses, fated to live forever in a terrible and enclosed place. I could never stand it.
Some sort of object whizzed past my pricked ears, and I instinctively reared in surprise, prompting a spurt of blood from the wound on my chest. The wind blew through my mane, beckoning, calling to me...telling me to follow it to the place that was truly my home. I didn’t need any more prompting. Whinnying farewell to my fellow horses, I galloped swiftly towards the mountains, and away from my entire past. Away from everything I had ever known. The small objects continued to fly past me, but they were no match for me, an angel freed from its cage and shot out like the bullet of a shotgun towards its destiny.
Of course, I got lost. I had never been outside the tranquil and lulling safety of the enclosed pastures before, and this entire new world was a revelation. I could feel something following me, though I had no idea what it was. Go, the wind whispered. That’s when the creature sprang, grabbing me from behind with terrible fangs. It was like some sort of giant cat, but more beast. It smelled of wild air and dense foilage, of hushed stories of demons. And it was trying to kill me. My thin and unworked legs weren’t much of a match for those of this creature, which were lean and muscular. Still, a successful bite on its flailing tail sent the creature yowling backwards, though it didn’t do much to deter it. I could only do what I was born to- run. Galloping as fast as I could from this menace, I was horrified to find that it could run almost as fast as me. With no experience of running through the wild, I found myself making costly errors, stumbling over the rocks that signified the beginning of the mountains and fallen trees. The sharp bushes lashed against my sensitive legs, which were not accustomed to running at such a speed. I was propelled by pure panic. Oh, how they would mock me, an angel who couldn’t fly fast enough.
I found myself pressed against a sheer face of rock, with little hope of footholds. The creature was gaining on me, I could see its eyes. All of a sudden, another creature whinnied, and to my astonishment when I looked up, it looked almost exactly like me, excluding the colour of its coat. I had no time to stare, though. It beckoned to climb up the rock face, though I didn’t see how it was possible. But then my eyes instinctively flickered to the tiniest of nooks and crannies in the rock, little things that I could get a hold on with my small hooves, and would prove impossible to climb for the massive, slavering creature that was just meters away. I had no choice. Leaping to the first rock, I balanced precariously, wobbling slightly, and quickly jumped to the next. The angel can’t fly fast, perhaps, but he can fly high! I thought with glee, and it was as though this was made for me. I didn’t even need to think about where I placed my hooves, every action seeming to be like some sort of innate skill that must be part of the species I was. As I scrambled to the top, I met the curious faces of horses who looked exactly like I was, the frustrated roars of the creature echoing from the bottom. Swishing my tail eagerly, I knew where I finally was. Home.

Exactly 1,000 words.

Story: I let out a very heavy sigh and try to focus in around the dark. The dark blue and black shadows that surround me, only a little time to think until the "noises" make me lose track. I shudder and try to keep back the thought of "it".. but it keeps coming back to me. Until I give in:

Overlooking the valley, I stood on a tremendous mountain. It was large enough to see the rivers, open fields and much more. It was quite beautiful, especially the bright, golden light coming from the sunset... the same sunset that set every day. It gleamed with reds and orange-yellows, and a fine hint of fading blue emanating from it. But it wasn't the last time I would see it...

But there was something wrong. There was always something wrong. Listening I twitched my ears listening for the sound. Out of the trees, I saw something unnaturally, black smoke with lighting like cast of dull purple. I ran for it like I did every day.. Every day I try to run faster, faster, and faster, but it was obvious that I had no chance. Like my other chances I failed at... I didn't understand then.

Still, the smoke kept pressing on, so I was forced to flee, but not to mention it was my instinct to keep running as well. I let out a frightened screech as I galloped along the path. But not the same path I took each time.. each time it was different but all managed to fail...Like the other times I tried.

I really didn't know where to go, each day I tried to do different things.. the same things happened to me every time...so I approached a different strategy, I tried to fight now. I became less frightened, but fear was still there. I reared in the air to try and back it off. It didn't stop a single bit, but sounded as if it was laughing.. a laughing that would send chills down me every time. Being so helpless never made me angrier than that time. I staggered forward, quite out of breath from running, and now, I know it was all for nothing. A trick to torment me and tear me from the life I once lived. It was devious.

I again reared, just in case, but truthfully, I wouldn't dare let it get close. I let out angry-like noises, or tried, but it came out as whimpers. And even worse, my feeble attempts seemed almost amusing to it, it was like I was feeding it with my attempts to get away.. away from this never ending nightmare.

I felt the space closing as it tried to close the gaps, and the last chances of freedom getting smaller and smaller. Yet, I refused to give up. I started charging, though it, still it scared me, but I’d back off at the last second. It almost seemed to work, but it always thought ahead of me. Like it always did...

I had nothing else to do except with the last bit of energy, I kicked wildly and neighed, frightened almost painfully. My heart was racing so loud, but I can hardly remember what happened next. What I do remember is that all chances of escaping left. And I felt nothing, like I was in zero gravity, no light as if you had a bandanna around your eyes..and then suddenly...

I wake up, don't remember how long I was asleep, the same thing keeps happening over and over. I lost count after.. after5.. well a lot. From what I thought was fate or destiny turned out to be a lie.. a curse maybe... But merely a never ending time laps. I’m still in that same enclosed space, but it’s not so bad anymore. I’m used to it, since I've been here for what seems like forever. But I still wonder about the beginning part of my dream. They always said there would be light at the end of the tunnel, but trapped in this time i'm a flower losing it’s red petals, counting down the days till it’s free from this life. A never ending time lap.

Equid's name:Tempest
Height: 14,2 hh
Age:7
Gender: Stallion
Story:Tempest sat on a high ledge proudly, watching over his herd, many strong fillies and colts had been born this year and were frolicking about with gangly legs and excited squeals. Deciding there was nothing around to harm them he let out a content sigh and started to deftly leap down the trail back to the large lush meadow. Half way down the cliff he felt the rumble of hooves through the ground, looking in confusion he saw that his herd wan't running, then it struck him, humans.

Tempest bolted down the cliff no longer concerned for his own well being, he screamed warnings and shouted,"get out of here!Run!" his heard gave him questioning looks but they trusted him so they ran. as one of the stragglers ran after the main heard something shot out of the trees and latched around their neck, humans soon materialized after the rope. Letting out a bellow of anger Tempest raised his mighty proud head and charged right through the humans. doing so severed the snake like thing around his heard members neck.

As the Mare bolted off he spun to face the dirty nasty humans, already they were in action and trying to get those snake things on him, he charged their disgustingly tame horses and made them freak. Right as he was spinning around to do it again something caught his throat and cut off air flow, making a choking noise he fell back on all fours and turned to bite the snake, but as he did another caught rope caught his hoof.

Tempest whinnied in rage and tried to charge again, but the ropes kept in-snaring his legs, and withing a few more moments of struggle he felt all of the snakes around him tense, and his legs were snatched out from under him. He glared up at the humans as they circled around him, he knew he would probably never see his heard again, silently has gave a amused chuckle and smiled, he wondered what they were going to do without him. when the humans heaved him to his feet he didn't make it easy to lead them but for one second he paused and looked over his shoulder at the home he would probably never see again.

Tempest was still defying the humans the best he could, and he longed for the feel of dirt and grass under his feet, and with an amused thought he remembered how frustrated they had been while trying to get him to do stuff. So far life here sucked, he was trapped in a small mildewy smelling box with bland, tasteless stuff they expected him to eat? he shook his head and snorted, all of the others horses here seemed to love all of the attention, which disgusted him to no end, to top it off they had put this lathery stuff on him and scrubbed his fur, not that that was bad, at least they hadn't cut his fur like he had some of the others like.

Tempest was struck out of his thoughts by the sound of approaching footsteps, fluffing up his mane he glared at the human who approached, it seemed to be a younger female one, she didn't make eye contact with him which was frustrating, and infuriating. As she passed his line of sight he heard a bit of a scrambled sound and then saw the girls head appear above him, she was walking calmly along the rafters and finally set herself down, still not looking at him. she pulled out a large set of some white stuff and started to scribble on it with some sticks.

After a little while curiosity got the best of him and Tempest reared onto his hind legs, balancing against the wall he gently pulled at a small piece of the girls clothes that was hanging down. She reached down almost absently looking to brush his nose, that made him freeze in place, when the others had done it he had bit them, but something hear kept him from doing it, forget that, he wanted her to do it again! Tempest gently, and hesitantly nudged the girls hand and earned anther stroke. He wickerd softly at her and for the first time, she looked him in the eye, she had beautiful stormy grey ones and he knew, this was the one human he could trust.

Equid's name: Cherokee
Height: 14,2 hh
Age: 5
Gender: Stallion
Story: Cherokee lifted his nose to the air. He breathed in the scent of animals and tulips, and...
HUMANS!
Cherokee kicked out just as a rope shot out toward his hooves. He whirled and flattened his ears at the man that emerged from the trees. He reared back and lashed out toward the human. He leaped away from another shot with the rope- and right into a tiny corral.
Another man quickly slammed the gate shut. Cherokee reared and kicked at the bars. Suddenly he felt a prick in his shoulder, and after a moment his vision went dark.
Cherokee woke slowly to see stone and harsh white light. He kicked out and tried unsuccessfully to stand. His head throbbed and his legs felt weak. He huffed and slowly let his head lower to the ground- and that's when he saw her.
A human!! Cherokee huffed and pinned his ears, throwing himself away from her.
"Hey, easy boy," she said softly. "I'm here to help." She smiled at him and quickly pulled the latch on the stall door and rushed inside.
Cherokee snorted but he couldn't bring himself to strike out. He slumped in defeat as she carefully slipped a halter on him. She tugged lightly at the rope. He hesitated, then slowly rose to his hooves.
X smiled. "Good boy," she said, handing him a treat. "Come on. Let's get you home."
