WME: Kladruber(Silver Dapple Grey)

Postby Lilian Nightshade » Thu Feb 07, 2013 7:02 am

Since today it's my birthday, I decided to post another breedquid.

This stally was born with a very noticeable roman nose, and along with his grey coat, he was considered to be a Kladruber equid. Like the friequid, he can be wild if his future owner decides to, since his traits weren't really caused by the humans. In order to try for him, you will have to write a story(1000 words at most) about him facing some kind of danger. It can be any danger, a predator, hunters, anything. Be creative. It can even be a dream, too.

I will judge this once there are enough entries.

PS: A decision has been made. The breedquids are to be sterile, so they can't have foals anymore.

This is my frist time that I've ever seen an Equid that I've really wanted to try out for, and even though I've been following the species for months, this is my first attempt at adopting one. ^^

Username: Notorious.
Equid's name: Broken Halo of a Demon (He has gone by the alias 'Demon'.)
Height: 14,2 hh
Age: 4 Yrs.
Gender: Stallion
Story: Words - 919

The cool air tingled his soft skin, as the wind reckless blew his slight mane the wrong way. The eerie night sky had settled in hours ago, and yet he had not been able to sleep. The self-elected nicknamed “Demon” was a proud Equid, always holding his head high, and attempting to be dominant, this was something that was distilled through his genes, and built up his cock, and forward nature. He was always cautioned for getting into danger, and more than once had he been considered a; “threat to anyone within ten yards of him.” It was his fault though, life was boring without action. So naturally when he had heard of a cave in one of the mountains, a good day’s travel from his usual home (or at least where he had remained for the last few months) that apparently a few Equids had gone in, and never came out, well he just had to. (But c’mon, it made sense, right?)

The moon radiated the only source of light as the stallion made his way up the jagged rocks of the mountain, snorting in discontent whenever his legs moved out of fashion, causing him to become unbalanced. He wasn’t about to give up the adventure when he was so close to finding out what was happening in the mountain-side, he just couldn’t.

Finally (after what seemed like hours) he made it to the entrance of the cave. He let out a deep breath as he shook his dizzy head. He wasn’t used to getting so much exercise... maybe he’d have to work on that when he made it back. Regardless he entered the cave, still a tad weary but nothing else. He took in the sight of the cave with pure awe, it was stunning, and he was surprised to see some kind of ancient human art painted on some of the walls. The humans used to live in places like this? No surprise that they act like idiots then. Internally laughing at his (lame) joke towards humans he continued toward. The only sound was his feet clipping across the ground, and the drip from some jagged rocks which were scattered throughout the cave on both the sides and the ceiling.

It took him awhile before he began to wonder what was actually happening here, had he chosen the wrong cave? No, he was pretty sure that this was the right one. But nothing seemed to be happening, there was no action here. He would go back, mock the others for their silly beliefs, and be an acclaimed daredevil and hero for settling things out. However as soon as the stallion turned to head back, he heard a rumble. It was an echo, yes, coming from further into the cave. Flicking one of his ears he took a couple of steps forward, to which there was a bend within the cave, turning his head to look to the side of the bend he saw well, he saw a sight that he would never forget.

A large cougar lay in the cave, chewing on some bones. It looked up at him, and for a moment all was calm, not even one single sound... And then...

To say that he started to run as fast as lightning wasn’t enough, he ran so quickly that it was a surprise his feet didn’t even start to float from the pure essence of his speed. He heard the feline behind him, on his hindquarters. He neighed in pure fear, as he pressed on. But his shall we say.. very manly run of sheer panic did have well.. a side effect.. The cave was unstable already, and with his and the cougars reckless running... The cave sort of... started to cave in.

Run. Run. Run. Run. RUN! That was his only, and primary thought as he jetted through the cave, the stone walls caving in just behind him and the cougar who seemed only bent on catching the fleeing Equid. This was bad, this was very, very bad.
Though there was hope, in the close distance there was the entrance to the cave.. It was just right there... Only thirty feet away.. Twenty.. And-

There was a massive amount of pressure put on his rear as the cougar leapt on him, causing him to collapse onto the ground. He felt pain dash through his hips were the claws made impact, though the pain was fogged by the adrenaline still pouring through his veins. The cave fallen was now right behind them, and if he didn’t do something he and the cougar would be trapped under the rock.
Angrily he got up and charged into the cougar driving the feline into one of the jutted rocks that stuck out from the bottom of the wall, it didn’t kill the animal, but wounded it badly enough that it yowled and shrieked in agony. He didn’t have enough time to even consider feeling sorry for the cat as he ran to the opening and-

He leaped out, the cave in literally just falling in the fill out the entrance, forever blocking the cave from any more visitors. He was surprised his frail legs managed to survive the jump without any damage, and the only pain he felt were from the scratches on his thighs.

After taking a moment to regain himself, and his structure he looked up and back at the cave, flicking his neck and his slight mane, he mused. “All in a day’s work.”

The lone wanderer. So tired, so miserable.
All but a mere shadow of an once vibrant soul.

Cursed by fate, burdened by sorrow.
Sentenced to a life of nothing but loneliness...
It looks like not everyone deserves a happy ending, after all.

Equid's name: Albert (Albie for short)
Height: 14,2 hh
Age: 3 years
Gender: Stallion
Story:
The wind tickled his mane, a cold breeze swept through the mountains. It was an early morning; the sun’s rays had barely reached the valley where Albert stood. His mind far away dreaming, when he heard distant shouts. It was too him an unfamiliar sound, which made him nervous as well as curious.

Turning his head in the direction of the sound, too better make out what it was. He noticed a small shadow in the distance, creeping towards him. What could it be he thought too himself, having been sheltered in the valley for his entire life. There was many unknown things too him, both creature and man. A great uncertainty seized him; frozen in place he could do nothing but watch the shadow coming ever closer. Even more shadows starting appearing on the horizon, these however seemed to be moving at a much faster paste then the other one.

The sun continued rising over the mountain peak, castings it´s light over the valley. Just as it did Albert was able to catch a glimpse of what was moving towards him.

It was a great white wolf and behind it, racing to catch up with it. Were several horses, but unlike himself they were far skinnier and seemed too move with a grace that he lacked. On top of their backs there were figurines – but he could not guess as to what they were.

Suddenly something broke the air of stillness; it was unlike anything he had ever heard before. The wolf quickly changed its course moving off in another direction.

However something else happened right after, Albert could feel the ground beneath him trembling, he turned his attention towards the mountain peaks and saw a great white wave falling down the side of the mountain. Realizing what was happening and what danger it meant, a jolt of realization hit him.

It was an avalanche, and his mother was in a cave right at the bottom of the northernmost mountain. He knew that she would never be able to escape the avalanche on her own, not in her pregnant state. The fear that had gripped him earlier was washed away by panic, bolting off, as fast as his legs would carry him. Albert ran towards his mother.

He ran, completely forgetting about everything around him, he only had one goal. Too make it in time.

He ran, getting closer and closer to where his mother would be.

Finally! He saw the cave, he pushed himself even harder. Using up his last bit of strength.

His mother was leaning towards one of the cave walls when he burst into the cave, quickly localizing the older horse. Pushing her out the cave entrance, just as the avalanche landed on top of the cave. He could feel every muscle in his body screaming out from the pressure of the snow on top of him, he tried to stay on his feet. But his legs gave away and he went down on his knees, he could see his mother laying in the snow a small stretch away from him. In a desperate attempt to reach her, he tried getting up. His entire body trembling, with the strain of trying to rise. He got his forelegs up, then his hind legs. Just as he was up on all four a new wave of snow pushed him down on his knees. And this time he would not be able to rise, his body was too exhausted after the earlier try.

He allowed the snow too push him down on his side, too tired to fight it anymore. As the darkness washed over him, he heard those strange shouts once more. Thinking they were ghost of his own imagination, he ignored them and let the dark take him.

When Albert finally returned to consciousness, it was not cold as he had imagined it would be. But warm, humid and dark. He noticed that he was standing up; surely he must be dreaming? He shook his head to try and wake up. When he opened his eyes again, he still found himself in the same place as before. In an attempt to get a sense of where he was, Albert started looking around in the structure that he was in.

The first thought that hit him was that if he was there, would his mother be as well?

Suddenly he hears the same strange voices that he heard first in the valley. From the sound of it they were moving towards him.

These creatures started conversing. Albert could not understand their language, but they seemed to mean no harm. They started removing the strange thing that was helping him stand.

After they removed it, he collapsed onto the ground. Closed his eyes and promised himself that he would somehow see his mother and unborn sibling again…

Equid's name: Heracles (Not Hercules, Heracles)
Height: 14,2 hh
Age: 6 years
Gender: Stallion
Story:

The inspirational music for this story: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yl45Qa4ntBw
(Below this point is 999 words baby!!!)

The sun was setting in the sky, casting a wide array of beautiful blues, pinks, purples, oranges and reds across the sky. Heracles lay down in the tall grass in his pasture and was slowly lulled into a daze by the chirping of crickets around him. As his breathing slowed, his nose twitched slightly as he fell into a deep sleep. His mind raced with chaos. A dream was upon him.

“Quickly! Everyone to the Stables!”

The evening sky was stained blood red by the setting sun. People’s screams could be heard from the other end of the stone complex. Dozens of people came running to the stables. Heracles was there, among hundreds of other horses. Most came in grey, some were brown and bay, but he was the only WME there. Men opened up gaits to the stables, leading out horses, and tacking them up. Heracles trembled in excitement. Would this be the day he would be chosen to lead them into battle?

Yes, it had to be; his master had promised him so. You cannot ask how Heracles understood this, but he knew. Today was the day, he was sure of it. He watched onward with excitement shining in his violet eyes as nearly all the other horses were dressed up in heavy saddles and bridles lined with metal to protect their faces. Other horses were teamed up and dressed with complex works of leather and metal, and a cart with two wheels would be attached behind them. The human would then stand in the cart, and followed in that fashion.

An eternity seemed to pass before Heracles saw his master. A tall, tan man with a scruffy beard wearing a bronze suit of armor and a red cape flowing behind him; his amber eyes glowing with passion and strength. He opened up the gait to where Heracles was residing. Putting his delicate hand onto Heracles’ soft Roman muzzle that was unique for his breed, he smiled through his apparent fear. “C’mon boy, it is time to fight for the Roman Empire!”

Heracles neighed in excitement and bobbed his head. His master first laid a large sheet of custom-made meshed metal on his body for protection. It was heavy, but Heracles had trained his weak legs for this. He then attached a halter onto his head; custom made to let his mane flow. He slipped the collar over Heracles’ head and set it in place on his withers. He attached the rest of the Harness in record time, and then connected the cart to the end of the harness.

His master unsheathed his sword as he stood on the cart, and pointed it towards the sky. “Lend us your Courage and Strength God, and be so great as to let all our men and steeds come home tonight!” All other men within earshot let out a loud yell in agreement, and Heracles joined in. With a loud crack, his Master’s whip hit the air and Heracles bolted, weaving through the crowd. The excited and furious yells of the men around Heracles and his master reverberated off of the stone walls of their kingdom. His heart raced with fear and excitement at the same time. He was willing to die for his master if need be.

For a split second Heracles looked back to when he was still wild, and how he thought the same for his family; his herd. He shook his head to clear his thoughts, and ran faster. His master was his family now. All these horses surrounding him, following him into battle, they were his herd now. There was no going back, and now he had to show it.

The gate he was running towards was lowering... revealing the numerous men that he would be fighting against. “Be strong, Heracles… you are…. invincible!!” Heracles was terrified now, his large heart pumping quicker and quicker every second… the excitement of going into battle for the first time mixed with the fear of death flooded his emotions.

The gate was almost lowered, but Heracles was running to fast to wait for it, and his master made no attempts to stop him. With the wind in his mane and his Master pushing him forward, he jumped, and for a mere couple of seconds, Heracles and his Master became a spectacle; flying through the air to meet a battle. Heracles thought his heart shall burst with all this newfound energy. When they hit the ground, Heracles couldn’t believe that he had made the jump. As he kept running, he could hear the yells of other horses and their masters jumping the bridge behind him…following him whole-heartedly into battle.

The clashing of metal on metal, the screams of enemy men falling to their deaths, the occasional high-pitched squeal that came from a horse that had been injured and left to die; Heracles ran blinded by fear. Just when he thought this nightmare was going to end, he heard his Master yell his name. He quickly glanced behind him to watch as he was struck with an enemy’s sword, and fell to the ground, blood pooling around him. He felt as if he was going to suffocate.

Heracles woke with a jolt.

His violet eyes panned his surroundings. His heart raced with fear, and he quickly stood up, half expecting a soldier to come and take him out next. He heard his name called again, this time in a sweet, feminine voice. He glanced over in the direction of the sound… It was his owner, and she had a Harness’ Collar in hand. “C’mon, let’s train you some more today, boy!” Heracles sighed in relief. As he slowly walked over to his owner, Heracles thought to himself: To think I was never more scared in my life than in that moment when I thought my master had died…and it was all just a dream. I never want to leave my owner’s side. I know she will keep me safe forever.

Story:
Day 314. She's talking to me again... I can hear the words so clearly, as if they're coming from the same space I am in. At the same time, they sound as if they came from far, far away. The voice is soft and gentle, rather low, and I never want it to turn silent. Switching my position, my hoof hits the pillowy surroundings, and I can hear the voice say "Ouuch, you're kicking pretty hard in there, considering how small you must be." Even now the words still sound so warm and caring. I have never seen my Mom, and have no idea what she might look like - I don't even know what I look like myself. All I know is her voice, and I can't wait until that day finally comes, the day that I will eventually be able to lay my eyes on her. It shouldn't be too long until then, I think. For many days I've been in here, wrapped in perfect darkness - not a frightening darkness, no, it feels so safe and warm, so comforting. Also comforting is the frequent, steady sound of Mom's heartbeat, the low, swooshing noise of her circulating blood. Well, one could call it "ours". We're connected as closely as can be, I am a part of her, without her I wouldn't exist, she's my very personal universe.

Sometimes, I can hear other voices from out there, way lower than hers. I can rarely understand what they say, except for when a voice is very close to us. I will have time to explore everything out there soon, I'm sure. What I can hear clearly now is Mom's voice again, telling me it's time for us to rest. I'm given a very slight shake as she changes her postition - then everything becomes quiet. The only noises are the swooshing sound that is always there, and her heartbeat that is now a lot slower...

I have no idea how much time has passed, but suddenly, I feel a rough shake. Is it the next day already? No, that can't be...not yet. But it seems we're moving, I hear voices from outside, but they're so loud that I can understand them rather clearly. "Wolves", I hear them scream, and "run". I don't know what that is, "wolves", but what I know is that those voices sound extremely scared, so I figure that "wolves" means danger. Before I can think any further, we start moving. I'm being shaken, it goes up and down, up and down, again and again. I'm being thrown around inside my small, dark universe that is now not nearly as comforting as before. I wish I'd hear Mom's soft voice telling me everything will be okay. But all I can hear is her heartbeat, so much faster and louder now, it almost hurts my ears. The swooshing sound of her blood has turned into a wild roar, along with the loud noise of her heavy breathing. "Come on, quicker!" a voice is screaming somewhere out there. In between her hard breaths, I finally hear the voice I've been waiting for. "I can't...". She sounds exhausted, desperate, not soft and gentle like usually. "Baby" she whispers, "you're not making this easy for Mommy...". I would love to help her, would even be willing to go out there right now and run from those "wolves" myself, carrying my weight on my own, but I can't. We're slowing down now it seems, the shaking gets less and less rough, I still feel slightly dizzy. "Cesan!!!" I hear her yell now, "HELP me!". She sounds so scared, yet her voice is loud and sharp. Cesan is my Daddy, she's told me. I've often heard them talk, I like his voice, it's dark but just as gentle as hers. I know he will come, I hope it with all my heart. Meantime, I'm being shaken again, but this time it seems different. We're not moving fast like before, but seem to be twisting and turning. "GO AWAY!" I hear Mom scream, "Don't you DARE to touch us!". They must be right here, those "wolves", I can feel the danger. I'm surprized how furious Mom sounds, the complete opposite of the gentle and soft voice I'm used to hear. Finally, she whispers "Cesan...", and from the relieved tone in her voice I take that he's there. Then everything turns into a chaos, there's loud noises, even more shaking and rumbling, both their voices, yelling. And her loud heartbeat, echoing in my ears. I hear Daddy telling her to run, I hear the word "river". Then we're running again, her heartbeat gets faster and faster. "Please Mom, save us..." I think. Suddenly there's a weird sound from outside that I've never heard before - a kind of "Splash!" - then her movement gets a lot steadier. Usually I can feel the vibrancy when she hits the gound, but now I can't feel it. Such a weird feeling...are we...hovering? I have no idea...

Finally she seems to be standing on normal ground again...we've landed. Was that the so called "river"? I will surely have to check that out once I can. I feel that she's laying down, and I hope this means we've escaped those wolves, finally. After a good while of exhausted breathing, her heartbeat starts to calm down, the roar of her rushing blood turns into the usual swooshing noise, slowly. And finally I hear her voice speaking to me. "We've made it, Baby...we've made it.". Soon I hear Cesan's voice, causing Mom to let out a happy seigh. I hear my parents talk, and I know that we're safe now. Dizzy after all that shaking, I turn to find a comfortable position, and accidentally kick her again. "It's okay, Mommy and Daddy are here..." she whispers. And no matter how dangerous the world out there seems to be - I can't wait to finally meet them.

Age: 7 Years
Gender: Stallion
Story:
The night before had not given any hint to the disaster of that morning. Dawn was approaching, a soft pink light was stretching across the sky, when the twilight was split apart by lightning. No rain fell, only thick clouds incdicated any hint of a storm as they slowly made a path across the western sky. Dry lightning.
A flash and then a crack; it startled the animals below from their sleep. Another fork followed quickly after the first, this time leaving the forest aflame with its journey.

North had been awoken by the first lightening. He stared up at the sky in confusion and wonder. No rain fell, but lines of light still cut the dawn, the stallion did not understand. The second fork made him jump, he danced backwards in surprise.
At first the stallion didn’t know that the forest he and his band mates called home was on fire. The wind blew from his back, toward the blaze, but he knew this lightning without rain was wrong. He had to return to his friends, he had left them by the mountain side as he searched for water. This summer was dry, dryer then he remembered from his 7 years of life.

He twisted around and quickly picked up a trot, heading down a familiar deer path, making his way back towards the mountain side. The wind pushed at his hindquarters and through his long ears; a strong force against his rump.
A rabbit dashed past his hooves, he sidestepped with a startled snort. Then another rabbit, then a fox, and a cluster of birds. The stallion slowed, his ears twisted forwards and then pinned back. Something was wrong, more animals raced between his legs, rustling the foliage around him with their panicked escape. They were running from something.
Then the wind shifted, twisted around him, changing direction. Above the clouds grew in size covering the light of dawn, darkening the world once more. The dry scent of Summer was quickly replaced with the stinging burn of smoke.

Smoke! North tossed his head with a startled squeal. The scent was unmistakable, all animals knew it even though they may never have faced it.
Fire. The forest was on fire.
North turned and ran, breaking through the undergrowth as he raced left off his trail. Part of him wanted to run with the other animals, allow the fire to chase him through the forest, but he knew that the safety was in his mountains. Where the oxygen was thin and the growth scarce, fire could not feed so it would not follow.
There had to be a way to get around it. If he was fast enough, brave enough, surely.

To his right he saw the flames. It engulfed the dry grass, it devoured the dead limbs of trees, and it grew larger with the abundance of food.
North broke through the tree line ahead, hitting another path, a path more often used. He skittered to a stop. The fire swarmed around him, ash staining his gray pelt.

Sweat lathered his withers, foaming between his legs. He thrashed his tail and stomped his hooves, gaze straight ahead to where freedom and safety could be found.
The fire had beat him in their race. It had eaten at the trunk of a tree, forcing it down and marring the path ahead. It lay there before him a dark shape in a sea of flickering red, blocking North from his band mates. He believed he could hear them, over the roar of the fire, the screams and whinnies of his brother Equids. They were worried for him, they knew he was down there, could see the disaster that had befallen the forest; but they could not help him.
He backed a few paces, gazing in every direction for a way out, but there was none. The flames before him were the lowest and the only chance he had.
North tried to take a deep breath, his lungs screamed in agony, there was so little oxygen left. The fire was taking everything, from both the air and the earth.
He danced and pranced, his light gray coat now dark and matted with soot and white foamy sweat. It was the only chance he had, and he would have to take it.

Equids were not a brave species. If the choice lay before them to fight or fly, they would fly. They were too weak, too small, to face the dangers of the world head on. Even amongst each other there was very little shows of strength and daring. One serious wound and it was over. But here and now North had to be the type of creature to do what was brave, to do what was dangerous. He would not stand there and wait for death.
