Name: Ganya (From the Zulu Tribe Meaning 'Able to outwit, cunning')
Which African tribe did he come from?: The Zulu
What African custom/tradition does he always follow?: While the Zulu tribe is known for its Brightly colored beads and baskets, they also are known for their small carvings. While Ganya likes to string colored beads and trade them as well as Baskets there is nothing he loves more than to make small carvings. Be it an odd tree, an Interesting ant or various animals he finds on his travels. The Main reason why he carves is because its helps him remember fond memories as well as it it gives him something to trade besides Beads and baskets and he can give some of his carvings to his friends.

This handsome boy, if I was lucky enough to win him, would be 'technically' named Stof.
Stof means 'dust' in Afrikaans, and was given to him at birth.
Although, Stof would be bilingual, and for the sake of his English speaking peers, also responds to 'Dust' or 'Dusty'.
He'll always be Stof to his tribe though <3

Which African tribe did he come from?:
Stof originated from the Yoruba tribe.
The Yoruba tribe are rather artistic, and Stof's mum gave him his beads when he was born, as her passion for pottery wouldn't have worked as a hat. Stof has since picked up painting, much to the surprise of his tribe, as painting is not traditional. They accept this, however, as it is technically an art form.
The Yoruba tribe was colonised by the British in 1991, which is why Stof has the English nickname of 'Dust', as he often comes in contact with those who are unable to pronounce Stof.

What African custom/tradition does he always follow?:
Stof loves when the Rainmakers dance. He thinks the dances are beautiful.
Sometimes, he tries to join in, althoug he isn't very good at it, himself.
He loves the rain, although it ruins his beautiful paintings, it also allows him to start all over again and make something beautiful from the rainbows in the sky after rain.
Rainbows inspire him to keep painting, so the Rain Dances are important to him :3

Gravity Falls - A.K.A. Gravy

Name:

Tando

Which African tribe did he come from?:

Jarawa - The Jarawa's are a sub group of the Andaman Tribe, as far as most know, are extinct. But, contrary to popular belief, few live among us. You'll never hear them breathe a word, but they do silently cherish their culture. Tando will definitely never tell, as he hates it when people observe him. The last thing that he wants is the media asking him about his tribe, and even more so, speaking about it.

What African custom/tradition does he always follow?:

Tando. If you asked anyone, they'd say that he had a very steady, patient hand, but no one would know why. Well, if you're curious, the rumors are true. But no- he doesn't use his gift for painting or sculpting- he is a mask maker. He makes many types of masks, and they are all very impressive. If you were to one day follow him to his basement, which is dangerous, so don't, you'd find a huge array of masks. Brown, black, red... Any color of the rainbow.

Deep in the woods,
In a world of our making.
Lost in each other,
No sense of forsaking.
A simple feel like any other,
Without any room to pretend as another.
But losing our footing on a wire of briers,
Binding and prying in loosening desires,
That not even the strength of
the strongest of motions,
Could calm this tide
Of rising commotions.
Drowning in sinners and falsified thoughts,
With feelings of malice, detachment and loss.
Swimming in circles around the drain,
Sucking the life from every vein.
Draining the soul and leaving it lost...
How much falling till you're finally caught?
And get back to the place your eyes have sought?

Ali - An African name meaning noble
Which African tribe did he come from?: (And why if you want to gain points!)
Shona
I chose the Shona tribe because they are from the same area that the majority of king cheetahs are from and I thought this connection gave his character more depth and realism.
What African custom/tradition does he always follow?: (And why/how/etc if you want to gain points!)
Ali is a woodcarver.
He carves because he feels that it keeps him in touch with his ancestors. The Shona are known for their metalwork and woodcarving, so Ali likes to keep the tradition alive by making carvings. Ali goes on long hikes to find the wood that he needs for carving, it can't be just any wood, it has to be sought out and found piece by piece.

What African custom/tradition does he always follow?: (And why/how/etc if you want to gain points!) Fula people, or JBD's like Aziza, love music and use a variety a traditional instruments. Hoddu (a plucked skin-covered lute similar to a banjo) is an instrument that Aziza loves to play whenever all the other members of her tribe gather round to sing and perform. She will always participate in this lovely time of music and singing and sees it as one of her favourite things about the Fula people.
