I decided to name her Lily, like a lily pad. I've always loved the nature flowers that grew on top of what looked like a house for a sweet frog or tanning salon for a turtle, the way they just bask themselves. I've always liked the name Lily too.

Sleekly through the pond,
Gliding among the lillies,
Dances the koi fish.

Peering over the side of the pond,
Watching in awe as they glide to and fro.
Of the vibrant fish I find myself fond!
My dad lifts me up as I watch them go.

"Daddy, can I have one?" I ask with a twinkle in my eye,
he ruffles my hair and says "Not yet, dear one... Not enough room!"
I pout and plead, but the answer stays the same. I ask "Why?"
And he tells me again, "I know that you want one, but we have not the room!"

I sat in the cab wallowing in my sorrow, all the way back home.
I just couldn't seem to understand why I couldn't have a fish!
being clever, I remembered that my birthday was close to roam!
