'ello there, me name is Neassa MacDhùnShléibhe (or Maclay in English). I prefer to go by the name Angus, and yes, I do know that's a boys name. In Irish, Neassa means not gentle (which I suppose I am when I am playing Gaelic Football) and MacDhùnShléibhe means on Islay which is the southernmost island of the Inner Hebrides of Scotland. Angus means one choice... I think I prefer that to Neassa.
Aye, I am female, a wee lass if you'd like to say... although some people might mistake me for being male when I play Gaelic football... plus my coat colour doesn't really help!
It's Gaelic Football! It's a fun, fast and furious game where you have soccer-like ball and it's like a mix between soccer and Australian rules football. You can kick the ball like soccer or you can pick it up (you can use you're hands though!) and run with it for ten steps and then you have to either handball it to another team mate, kick it or bounce it and after another ten steps kick it to someone else. The goal posts are like soccer goals except they have sticks on the top and if you kick it between them, you get more points! It's a hard game but that's why I like it! Because it's challenging and fun. Plus it's different and unique to other sports.
