Another great dog book is The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. The best book I have ever read. It's really deep, though. But it's about a boy named Edgar Sawtelle, who is mute. His family raises this dogs called "Sawtelle dogs" that had been in his family for 2 generations. The dogs are a bunch of mixes between some of the smartest, and most well put together. I won't give it away, but it's a great book.
