Story: Ghost swooped through the deep, his long charcoal tail propelling him and sending bubbles across his face. He was smiling when he glanced up and noticed a dark shape above him, giving off strange humming noises. Ever curious, he swam up to the boat and began nosing around, pressing his muzzle against its dingy white sides. It didn't seem terribly interesting, though, and he was about to swim back down when he noticed a rope coming off the side of the boat and leading down, down, down. He followed the worn old rope carefully, wondering where it would lead. It seemed to stretch on endlessly to the eager young Guardian of the Sea as the ocean grew colder and darker around him. Finally, he saw a flash of silver in the navy blue darkness. "What could that be?" he asked aloud to the silent ocean around him. It was eerily silent, unnaturally silent, and he continued with a grim sense of foreboding. Suddenly, a thousand flashes of silver shimmered in the darkness. They were fish, he realized -- and then he noticed what the rope was attached to; a net. Determined to help the creatures, he rushed towards the net -- only to become tangled in it himself. He cried out, panicking, as the ropes tightened around him and the fishermen pulled it up towards the surface. He struck out with his powerful hooves and a sense of relief rushed through him as the ropes snapped and he, along with hundreds of silvery shiner fish, shook them off and swam away. Ever since, Ghost has been deeply mistrustful of humans.
