Pertronimus, but most call me Peri
Story:
Peri hissed as the water bubbled and spat on his scales. He lunged forward to the old dwarven ruins that he dwelled in.
He looked up to the roof. The eclipse had started and the moons gracious light didn’t comfort him tonight.
As he noticed a small shadow wizz across a small stretch of moonlight, as he felt something large hit his side. He staggered as his breath rushed out in pants, and the dark, and rather large shadow loom above him. It's grin was dark and its claws sharp... he'd fought worse. With a cry he launched forward and let burst a small flame. It recoiled and scampered off, and with a huff Peri fell to the cold floor.
When Peri woke up his brain snapped into slow realization. Ok, ok so my name's Pertronimus, friends call me Peri... um, I live at a place called Rectornum, a... what’s it... um... Dwarven Construct!. Great he had'nt lost the important stuff, The most detailed information is the basic, he smiled at his motto, which kept him from the shadows claws.
He took a stroll to hopefully jog some more information from his brain. So that creature, was a shadow, but what happened before that... What happened before- The thought struck home.
He raced out to go look for the fallen object that had distracted him, I never, EVER get distracted!, he thought distraught on what had accured the night before.
Before he knew it he had burst into a small clearing, and there in the middle was a strange object that gleamed in the sun. He approached it cautiously and as he was going to start decesembiling it, when the whole thing started to move. It looked as if the thing was breathing as the sphere pulsed with intricate patterns, or letters. He gasped and took a few steps back, and suddenly a bright white light lit my vision.
I stood in a white marble room. The world seemed to tilt and even though he was the only person there, it was difficult to breath as the air felt thick.
A voice rolled from it and with it creatures of misshapen shapes and sizes circled him.
They spoke as one in a strange language that made no sense, judging by the look on my face they whispered quietly and when they spoke I nearly had a heart attack.
"You come, Redeemer," The alien voices pronounced to no one in particular "Me?" I asked curiosity pinning my judgement "Yes, redeemer we need your skills to send us home," The creatures closed their eyes and murmured "We have wondered space for centuries now, our bodies are old and frail, have our power and bring us back" With the last line their eyes snapped open and to my horror, instead of a white they were black... No! their shadows! His panic could not save him. He cleared his mind and focused, and with tremendous effort he fired small beams of flame at every shape that stirred as their bodies convulsed and changed to dark misshapen images.
They charged him at once trying to pin him down, his claws flailed and caught in their flesh. Hissing and spluttering, like boiled water, they fled.
He stood in a circle of black ribbons, while calling out "Run! Run as the Redeemer will destroy you! I will vanquish your species! I promise it!"
As I said those last words, my vision flickered and suddenly the ground swallowed me whole, and when I opened my eyes I noticed that I had returned to the clearing.
The sky was dark with black clouds, I hissed in annoyance and sprinted for my home. They tricked me! I will not stand for it! Besides I promised myself I would destroy them… I will
As I slept tonight, the sense I felt was hatred, a feeling that gutted me and killed my soul. The thing that lurked in my soul had actually been there for a few years, waiting for a gap, a light or should I say shadow, fault in my defence and slipped in, it festered my brain for the night, giving me headaches and that foreboding sense… that was the worst. I knew what I looked like now, a normal Whiptail dragon to the eyes of some and others… well, a black soulless monster, or shadow.
My main goal in life now it to find a cure to my pain, my half… the thing that has a reason to kill.
