Backstory:
The black and white mare looked down at the little foal in front of her "Well my little foal, I'm going to tell you a story. My story" she said to him. She watched as he looked up at her with wide anticipating eyes. "On the day i was born, the stablehands at my barn noticed a marking on my neck, that they thought looked like an eagle in flight. Thats why they named me March to freedom, or freedom for short. They believed that wherever i would go, i would bring good luck, and happiness to those around me. When i was about a year old I was broken and learned to be ridden. I was very fast, and was a good jumper.
I was taken to the sales ring one day and was separated from my mother. I have to say it was the worst day of my life. I was sold to a kind family who had a teenage boy, he was the one who took care of me. We formed a bond that no one knew how to describe, I loved him, and wanted nothing more but for him to stay safe and happy. He wanted the same for me. The news spread around that a war had started, it was a world war, and they needed horses. The boys father took me and sold me to the calvary even though i protested. The boy tried to stop his father, but it was to late. The officer gave him time to say goodbye to me. I nuzzled him and he gently stroked my muzzle. He promised me that we would find a way back to each other, and he was sue the would hear stories about what i had done to help the war. He gently traced the eagle marking on my neck with his finger, and then he was gone.
At the camp for the war, one of the officers took a liking to me, and decided that i would be his new mount for battle. He believed that if i lead the charges with him that we would be on the road to freedom. We practiced the charges every day for a week before it was time to go to battle. We all proudly ran towards the enemy camp only to find out they had expected us and ambushed us.
My rider was killed, I knew i had to run for my life. I ran threw the forest with all my speed, I knew i was being followed but they could not catch me. I found myself in an open field. I met a stallion, named Night while i was out there who had also escaped from battle. We quickly became friends, and we found ourselves falling head over hooves in love with each other. I soon found out i would be having his foal. It wasn't long before the army found us again, they took us back and we realized we were on the opposite side from when we had started. They got me and my stallion, ready for battle. I had to say i was frightened, but i saw an eagle soaring above my head and i remember what those stablehands had said a long five years ago. We charged into battle yet again. We lost but I was safe and Night had been shot, but in the hind leg, and was doing fine.
Not long after we switched sides yet again, and I never stopped looking for my boy. I knew he was the age to be in the army, but i hoped that he was safe. Me and night got used to our new lives, we were just happy we were both alive. One day i was frightened by the cannon fire and ran into barbed wire. I was cut free by a kind solider on my side. He lead me back to the stable where night was, and the doctor came to tend to the cuts. They were afraid i would get an infection, but i managed to pull through. By this point they finally realized i was expecting a foal, and took care of me in the stables. Every day i wished on my luckiness that night would always come back, and every day he did. The solders knew i was special because night was the only horse that survived every battle.
One day a soldier came in from battle with a gun shot wound in the leg. I overheard the doctor talking about him and i knew from the description that it was my boy. I started making lots of noise in my stall until they let me out to make sure i was ok. I ran free of them and ran up to the boy. He look at me with a puzzled look at first, than he spotted the eagle on my neck. A smiled spread across his face and he threw his arms around me. I nuzzled him, and an officer came up and demanded to know what was going on. The boy explained that two years ago i was his horse, but i was sold to the calvary. He said he had been looking for me every since he join the army last year, and was hopping he would be allowed to keep me. The officer grumbled than said yes. Life went back to normal, or as normal as it could be in the calvary.
On a peculiar sunny day i spotted yet another eagle soaring above my head, and the news was spreading that the war was over. My boy tacked me up and tried to ride me away but i protested. I wanted my love, night to come with us. They were auctioning off all the unclaimed horses. My owner went to the auction and said the he had previously owned night and they bought his story. We went home to the warm welcome of his parents, and his mother thought that it was me who had kept her son safe. I was put on a break until i gave birth to you. Me and night named you eagle, knowing the name would bring you great luck in the future. That my son is my story" She said to him. Eagle stared at her in awe "I can't believe all that happened to you!" he said. He stood up and nuzzled her, and she nuzzled him back. She looked at night and smiled, than whinnied as the boy came out to groom her. She realized just how right those stablehands were a long 8 years ago, she sure was lucky.
(Edit: I completly messed up the story cause now i remember that theses are not normal horses *facepalm*. I would fix it but i have to flu and dont have the time to change it.)
