This horse may have been created for Halloween, but to me it symbolizes the truth in this world, a balance of yin and yang. There cannot be light without darkness, as is displayed in this beautiful DAM. While she may be mainly light colored, the darker colors edge at the feet, showing that they are ever-present but perhaps not as conspicuous at all times as good. On her rump the white conflicts with the darkness, but as is in oil and water, they do not blend together but instead exist in harmony. There are hints of darkness on her head as well. This horse represents to me what is the truth of what appears pure and innocent. Nobody, nothing, is ever completely good. There will always be those hints of darkness, varying in prevalence but omnipresent at all times. Without small amounts of darkness to balance out the light, the world would fall into chaos from the disorder.
We can see this in Norse mythology, in the legend of Hati and Skoll { not that comic, Off-White }. Hati pursues the moon across the night sky, Skoll the sun, never catching it until the legendary Ragnarok, when they will consume the moon and the sun and all chaos will break loose. In their balance of powers Hati and Skoll are able to suspend the world in harmony, but when this changes the world will no longer be balanced.
Balance is important in this world, and this DAM represents it perfectly and simply.
