-Pet-
"Without friendship,
what are riches and power?
But empty delusions,
that fade in an hour."

-Name-
Jena {Endurance, little bird.}
-Gender-
Female

-Name-
Ayanna

-Gender-
Female

-Personality-
Ayanna's name means "Beautiful Flower" and,
like her name suggest, she is beautiful.
This soft of heart Jewel Mane is not like the rest,
her personality stands out as she can be as soft
and beautiful as her name, or as menacing and unsightly
as the bee that pollinates her. With such a happy
go lucky attitude, her friends are plentiful and
trusting of the delicate dragon.
Humble and strong she will protect those she
loves and fend away those who are undeserving
of her friendship.

-Story-
"Hum hum, deedum. Hum hummmm, deeeee duum." Hummed a small
white figure that made her way through the tall grass.
Blue designs lit her pelt, as well as others that didn't
stand out to such an extent.
"Oh, what have we here?" She wondered aloud,
paw flitting forward to caress a white daisy. "Kinda
looks like me." She giggled, continuing on, the flower
now tucked gently behind her ear. A small tweet filled her
long auditories and she raised her light blue orbs to gaze into the air.
"But mom! I don't wanna fly, right now!"A small voice chirped,
a nest of twigs blocked her vision, until she realized that must be where the
voice was coming from. "Tsk, tsk." Scolded a female's adult voice.
"The early bird catches the worm!" Ayanna heard an ancient
saying ring down from the nest. "Oh, alright!" Replied a defeated little girl,
and Ayanna watched in awe as a small orange tinted bird fluttered from the nest.
But at once the fledgling was met with a worm eaten branch, it was knocked down
at her impact, and the jewel maned dragon watched in horror as the two whirled
through the air and the chick was caught under the branches weight. Thankfully
she made the fall, but was not well, the branch was merely a thimble to
the dragon, and she lifted it off with ease. "D-don't hurt me!" Chirped the little bird,
but rather than sharp fangs she was met with kind eyes. "I want to help you."
Ayanna soothed, her tail came forward slowly to lift the chick upon her back.
When taken to the Jewel Maned Dragons resting place, she laid the bird down
upon a frock of grass. With her jewel she cast a healing trance upon this animal
and soon the little bird was up and flying again. "Oh thank you! What could I ever do
to repay you?" She twittered merrily. "Just tell me your name." Ayanna replied, passages
widening as she let out an amused chuckle. "Oh... I'm Jena!" The small bird replied.
"My mom says it means 'Endurance, little bird.' Cause' she says I'll need a lot of it,
whatever that means!" Ayanna turned to mingle with the flowers she had collected,
her eyes downcast. "I suppose now that your healed, your going to fly away?" She murmured.
"What's wrong?" Asked Jena, ignoring the question. "Oh... Nothing. It just... Gets lonely around here."
Bobbing her head in understanding, the little swallow fluttered up and landed
upon the dragons soft shoulder. "How about I stay here? It's full of flowers, which
attracts plenty of bugs for me to eat! And you can protect me!" She suggested
her eyes lit up, as her beak could not register a smile. "OK." Ayanna agreed,
and Jena moved in with the dragon, and together they would have multiple
adventures for many years to come.

I stood in the parlor
watching their arrival
as they sought a safe home
to ensure their hatchlings survival

They flew in and out
returning each time
a twig in their beaks
and cooing sublime

The patio is sheltered
No rain enters there
and the fan so high up
perfection for the pair

Their nest built and comfy
they settled in tight
and covered the eggs
all day and all night

And then it happened
The miracle occurred
The hatchlings came forth
Tiny wings on a bird

Nature is mystical
and brilliant with love
and brought us such joy
on the wings of a dove

1.0) Name

1.1) Name In Short
Dandelion.

1.2) Nicknames
Dandy
Lion
Fluff
Gracie
Shy
Flutters

1.3) Reason/Why
This matches her personality very well. She is very kind, just like the flower. If you make a wish, she will work hard to make it come true (Unless of course you get her to hate you). If you set her one fire, she'll be burnt to ashes within minutes. The dandelion does not grow in the winter, and Dandelion won't be able to do anything if you're cold and cruel to her like the snowy weather.

2.0) Personality

2.1) Traits:

~*~Shy-Timid-Kind-Sensitive-Gentle-Graceful-Loyal~*~

2.2) Summary
A friend to the forest, Dandelion is the gentle, soft-spoken member of the group. Sweet and caring, she makes plenty of space in her tucked-away cottage for helping anyone in need of her love and care, especially her little animal friends. But don't be fooled: although she is timid, she is a determined JMD with admirable strength. She always defends those who are treated unfairly. With an enormous heart, and the greatest kindness, this dragon is a gentle soul who always rises to the occasion and is always there when her friends need her.

2.3) Long version:
Image
Image
When she is first introduced to anyone, she'll barely manage to tell you her name on account of her timidness, whispering so quietly that you cannot hear her, and goes as far as to hide behind something. However, she can become over enthusiastic when she spots a baby animal or JMD. She has a tender spot for young. Her quiet speaking can often annoy some, and she can cause them to express their aggravation commonly.

She is terribly afraid of grown dragons (Not JMD), and is very hesitant if you try to get her to go close to one. But if the dragon so much as lays a claw on her friends, she goes crazy and ends up lecturing the thing face-to-face. She once tamed a lion in a similar matter, staring it down ad giving it a lecture and all that. But if anyone shows the same behavior to her, she will be reduced to tears and break down in sobs.

When this JMD is afraid of something, she will lock herself in her home and refuse to answer the door unless she learns it is one of her friends.

She refrains from fighting and instead tries to find a solution to the problem. It seems as though she knows what exactly is wrong, but instead says she showed consideration to the antagonist regradless.

When animals scurry away and do not pay attention to her, she snaps. She will try her hardest to capture them, thus resulting in her setting up traps to capture them.

She is the most loyal JMD you'll ever meet. She would sacrifice herself without another single thought for her friends. Of course, she is easily taken advantage of, because of her loyalty. If you asked her to jump off a cliff (If you were her friend), she would do it trusting that you would save her. She once broke her tail helping her friend carry something heavy. But she wouldn't just kill herself for no reason. You need to give her a good reason.

3.0) Story

It was a beautiful, sunny day. Meanwhile, under the soft, warm sun, a cream jewel maned dragon pranced through the fields gracefully with her animal friends. A squirrel jumped onto her back and held the fur on her shoulders for a ride. She smiled and sped up, gradually being able to make the furry creature on her back jump up and down.
After a few minutes of this, the squirrel got tired of riding and slid off and onto the springy grass.
Dandelion sat down to rest. Her chest heaved in and out, the fur being stirred by the soft breeze. A badger nuzzled up to her flank.
She ended up laying down, feeling the soft sunshine on her face...

BAM!

A gunshot sounded in the distance. The female jumped to her feet, sweat already trickling down her face, teeth chattering, paws moving quickly as she ran to rescue the fallen animal that had been shot by the hunters.
Maybe I can get there before they do... Maybe I can save it... she thought to herself.

And, alas, she arrived at the side of a beautiful cream bird. But, in it's wing, a bullet was lodged behind the soft feathers. She immediately scooped it up onto her back like icecream. The female barrelled through the meadows she had previously been leaping about carelessly towards her home.

Several hours later...

Dandelion wiped the sweat off her forehead. She had just finished pulling the bullet out, cleaning the wound, and wrapping the wing securely. The bird she had saved nuzzled her behind the ears, chirping affectionately. It was so glad that she had saved it, and was now testing its bandaged wing. "Oh, no, please don't try to fly, little bird!" she called softly. "It's only been an hour since I've wrapped you up, and we don't want your wing getting damaged more..." Just before it was going to fall to the ground, it stopped. Yes, she could speak to animals. But animals cannot speak back to her. It chirped softly in understanding. "I'll name you... Victoria." she cooed softly as she stroked her feathers.

Adventurous

What is life without adventure? This is a common thought for growing Amaryllis. She is always wandering off to find new adventure, especially after the finding of Clementine.

Curious

Everyone is curious. It's no different for Mar.

Optimistc

Mar loves to be optimistic, even through the worst of situations. She is rarely seen being down about something, unless she finds she needs to.

Imaginative

She likes to have her head in the clouds, always thinking of new ways to improve her world as it is.

Caring

Like all people, she has a heart. She's always there to care and has a weak spot for wild animals especially.

"Stay out of my house until you learn your manners!"

The orange dragon shouted, retreating into his humble cottage. His timid wife stared at her daughter, who held a small bag in her mouth.

"Be safe out there, Mar."

The mother dragon cooed, giving a weak, forced smile. Amaryllis, who knew her words would be muffled by the bag in her mouth, simply nodded and ran off without another word.

Image

Amaryllis collapsed onto the tall grass, after miles of trudging away from the place she knew as her home. There was a tree nearby, accompanied by the feeble chirps of a bird, but she ignored them due to her exhaustion.

Guess I'll nap here.."

She murmured quietly to herself, before falling into slumber's arms. When she arose from her troublesome sleep, the bird's chirps grew more urgent. She recognized it was early morning and she fell asleep in a small clearing surrounded by tall grass and an aging tree. The source of the chirping was not too far, so she decided to investigate. As Amaryllis neared the location of the injured bird, she could easily locate the cause for the urgent cries. The bird's right wing was in an awkward position, and blood poured. The bird was colored a soft orange, stained with dried blood of course.

"Hello, my fine-feathered friend."

She greeted in a sweet voice. The injured animal let out a screech, then attempted to fly off. It fell to the ground, only resolving in more pain than the bird and its wing needed. It gave out a strangled cry.

"Shush. I'm here to help."

She responded. The bird choked out another mangled cry, one in which Amaryllis took as refusal. She sighed, then grabbed her plastic bag and took a small clementine orange out with s swipe of her paw.

"Want an orange?"

She questioned, beginning to peel it slowly, careful not to puncture into the skin of the orange too deeply. The bird gave a positive reaction, quickly running towards the direction of the fruit. It gave the orange delicacy a gentle peck, then a squeak of delight. Once Amaryllis picked off the skin, she broke the fruit into slices with ease. She plopped a slice in her mouth happily, then broke off a small portion for the bird. The bird gulped down the piece with glee, begging for more soon afterwards.

Once the fruit was dispersed and eaten by the twosome, Amaryllis had come to a decision. She would take care of this bird until it was fully healed. She gathered her remaining supplies. The bird had attached itself to her, adjusting itself into a comfortable position by clipping its beak onto the edge of the dragon's wing gently. The two set off for Amaryllis's home.

Image

After walking to the cottage of her family, Amaryllis apologized for her behavior. When she brought up the subject of finding the injured bird, her mother was quite amused and pleased with this idea. Her father was slightly more suspicious. After answering his torrent of questions, he reluctantly gave his support. She ran outside, to where the injured bird laid. She brought the bird up to her room. There, she learned much more about the bird. The bird was a female. Its wing had ceased bleeding, but it was still caked with blood. She decided to clean the bird when she woke up. She raced down the stairs to grab some sort of food that was more than an orange. When she finished with her snack, Amaryllis went to bed, preparing for tomorrow and the drama it promised.

From that day on, Amaryllis and the injured bird went to a clearing full of grass that was near the house. She always brought a small bag containing small clementine oranges, two plates, and a plastic knife. On the first day, Amaryllis brought an extra bag with supplies needed desperately by the slowly dying bird. It contained bandages, water, shampoo, and a sponge to cleanse the bird of its blood.

Just as she did the first day the two met, the orange-feathered bird adjusted her petite body onto Mar's back and attached her beak to the tip of her wing gently. Amaryllis, who was too preoccupied with her thoughts, didn't notice.

"Umm.. Birdie! Come over here, so I can take care of you!"

Amaryllis took out her supplies from the second bag as the bird cautiously approached. Without warning the pastel orange dragon sprayed water onto the bird. The bird was caught surprised, obviously. Amaryllis squirted the animal-friendly shampoo into her paw with ease, then grabbed her sponge with her free hand. She was standing on her hind legs right at the moment, vulnerable. She, surprisingly, made it to the area the wet bird was situated. Thankfully, it wasn't too far. Amaryllis rubbed the liquid into the bird's damp feathers, at the same time digging the sponge into places where bubbles have not risen. Once the bird was white due to the bubbles, she grabbed a water bottle and dumped it onto the bird. The bird was not surprised, as if she knew it would help her. The bird was now clean, no blood at all. Amaryllis was proud of herself, giving herself a moment to rest.
And moments later, she fell into a nap. The still-wet bird, shaking, hobbled to the destination of the plastic grocery bag that contained orange fruit. She carefully picked a small orange, near the size of a small bowl, and began to peel it with her claws.

After this event, Amaryllis would train the injured bird by training it to fly some distances. She would let the bird fly small distances such as tree to tree. If she was to improve, the distance would increase a bit. Amaryllis and the bird would check how the wing had improved, and attach a new bandage and dampen the wing a little. Later, they would share a small snack of clementine oranges, a favorite shared between them.

As the days passed, Amaryllis became more and more attached to the small orange bird with the injured wing. She wanted so to name the bird. But she did not, because the bird's wing was near done healing.

When the bird was fully healed and set to go, Amaryllis had prepared a small picnic for the two of them - as a last goodbye. Once the last course of the picnic was served, the Jewel Mane Dragon could very well see that the bird was reluctant to leave. So she gave a final look at the once tattered wing, which was perfect in health.

"Don't you want to go home?"

She asked, forcing a weak smile as if to show her support. The bird shook her head as if it was the most natural thing to do. Amaryllis, surprised, was the one to break the silence.

"Then you'll stay here?"

The bird, with its unsure movements and all, hobbled towards the sitting body of Amaryllis. The orange bird lovingly nudged the dragon's arm. Amar smiled.

"Let's go home, Clementine."

With those words, came the bird's long-awaited name. Clementine. A fruit that the dragon and bird both enjoyed. They both became dependent on one another, trusting each other with their lives. Despite the fact they both only met each other recently, no one could doubt they're the best of friends.

Re: JMD #31 ~ soft daisies

This JMD, I would name her Flora.
Flora is a kind, generous, trustworthy, nature-like, adventurous, wise, and curious.
Flora is the JMD who would help anybody in need, she would be there. When she speaks, she speaks of kindness and words of wisdom.
Poem
Through fields of gold with a bird that sweaps
Young little Flora goes and leaps
When dark times arrive
Flora helps, to help all thrive
That special bird whose name is Fauna

When that terrible time came
That evil gang
Little Fauna broke a wing
Flora was so sad but still she'd sing
That bond they made was forever true
Those best friends, everyone knew
But as soon as Flora couldn't take it
The bond she couldn't break it
Flora, as soon as possible, she healed the bird
With a single word
Friendship
With the Flora and the Fauna, the world would be in balance
With that special friendship
We will always have a safe trip

The bond!
As Flora walked the earthy ground a young little bird flew around.
Flora was bewildered by the amazing birds song.
Flora sang along with this bird and soon the bird started to fly down to Flora, but as the bird flew down, a gang of other birds flew into her wing and the bird fell down to Fauna. With that broken wing, Flora couldn't bear to lose that poor bird. They stared into each others eyes and knew they were to be the best of friends. The sadness made Flora sing the song they were singing earlier. That sad time bonded them. Flora found her friend. But that terrible wound was not fit for little Fauna. Flora only did one thing. She said "Friendship" That single word healed little Fauna and she was healed. Fauna, she was healed. Flora, she had bonded.
