Cashmere is a relatively social JMD, and is caught being uber-cuddly quite often. He has a determined mind, and when set to a task, it is rather hard to stop his actions. This fella is such a cuddler, sometimes he needs to be pryed off with a crowbar. True Story. On that note, despite his fluffy and cuddly appearance, Cashmere is relatively muscular beneath his furry over-coat.History ;;
Cashmere was born into the world, on an abandoned farm. At the time, a deadly sickness was going around in the area. Sadly, his mother was killed off by the disease, and was left to be cared for by his father. Cashmere's father was so petrified, each day he became more insane. Eventually, when Cashmere had enough of his own father beating him and rejecting his own son, the JMD launched himself out into the world. Soon enough, while traveling at a great distance, he reached the Jewel Maned Dragon adopts, and decided to have a look. Cashmere decided to be put up for adoption, and that's were he met me.How he got his scarf ;;
It was a rather cold day, and the snowflakes danced in the air as they fell to the snow-covered ground. Cashmere was braving the cold, and made a fresh batch of pawprints as he took every single step. He wasn't very frostbitten, as he had a very fluffy coat, and he was responsible to making the snow fall that day. The beige JMD reached a sall clearing, and looked at a large piece of green fabric that was caught on a low-hanging branch. Cashmere inspected it carefully, and soon took it up in his jaws as he continued. As he continued the journey, Cashmere began to find many more pieces of the green fabric, large or small. The beige creature got so curious that he decided to figure out what he could make out of the various pieces of green fabric.
After purchasing a very simple sewing kit, Cashmere went to work. All that was needed to sew the scarf was love, sweat, a few drops of blood and a pair of nimble paws. When his small experiment was finished, Cashmere had his warm, green scarf. Proudly wrapping his new accesory around his neck and setting off once again.Favorite hobby(s) ;;
Cashmere has several favorite hobbies. One is, of course, snuggling. The other two are sewing and making new JMD friends.Favorite Food and Beverage:
Cashmere's favorite food is, Gingerbread cookies with a side of hot chocolate.

Cashmere is quite the bookworm. He absolutely loves to read, and it is one of his favorite things to do. His room is filled with a ton of books, and he couldn't at all live without them. He also likes to write, but reading is what he likes the most. Cashmere loves to get lost in the book, to be the characters, to live the story and fight the dragon and everything like that. His favorite types of stories are fantasies and historical fiction, especially in the medieval time period. With princesses and etc. However, he doesn't limit himself to those books only, and enjoys nonfiction just as much as any other Jewel Mane Dragon. His favorite book? Why, Alice in Wonderland, just like that lovely quote.Cashmere Says... wrote:Seriously. I have the entire book memorized. That's one of my favorite quotes above. My favorite character is the Cheshire Cat. Oh, and the caterpiller!
Cashmere is also very creative, especially with a needle and thread. More specifically knitting. It's his favorite thing to do, other than read. He really likes creating things, especially socks. In his opinion, it is impossible to have too many socks. Of any kind and color. Socks are in his blood. He also enjoys knitting scarves, but socks are his favorite. He likes to sew too, samplers being his favorite. He likes flowers, and they are the subject of many of his knitting and sewing endevours alike. One of his favorite pieces he has ever knitted is a bright green book cover. It has a blue-grey flower on the front, or more specifically, a blue-grey dandelion. On the back was a purple-pink foxglove.Cashmere Says... wrote:Don't laugh at me. It's really relaxing. I like to calm down by sitting and knitting. It's more fun then it looks.
Being cooped up in your room all day reading doesn't help develop very good social skills. Because of this, Cashmere is very shy. He isn't very comfortable around new people and would much rather be alone. However, if you're his type then you'll discover he's actually quite nice on the inside. He might not be really bold, but that's how he is. He actually prefers to be with friends then be alone, but the problem is that he doesn't have many friends at all. One of the things that he really likes to do with friends is talk about books that he has read. He likes giving book recommendations to his friends and discussing the outcomes of certain characters and the plot. On the outside though, he's really shy.Cashmere Says... wrote:Umm... hai my name is Cashmere thanks I like my scarf too yes I like to read bye *scurries upstairs*
Being the bookish JMD he is, Cashmere likes to learn and is actually very intelligent. He actually likes learning new things, as they almost always intrest him. He's really curious, actually. Finding out things that he doesn't know much about is one of his passions. His favorite thing to learn about is things like recipes, craft instructions, and the like. However he doesn't mind anything really. He has gathered up so much information in his head he's almost like a walking dictionary! He's good at all of the other, more 'old fashioned' stuff too, like arithmetic and writing and math. And of course reading. All and all, Cashmere is quite a smart JMD. He knows almost everything.Cashmere Says... wrote:Hey guess what! I heard the best recipie yesterday, for black tea cookies. They sounded really good. There's nothing I like to do more then sit and drink tea. Yum. *sips tea*
Cashmere is the kind of JMD that hates to see others cry and be upset, so he tries to be gentle to everyone that he meets. There isn't a mean bone in his body. Cashmere spends all of the time he has interacting with other JMDs as gentle and nice as possible. He's gentle physically too. Cashmere likes taking care of small creatures and also likes teaching little JMDs what to do. It all appeals to him, making sure that they're doing it right and all that. If Cashmere ever makes the person he's helping cry, which has only happened once, he feels as wretched as the person he hurt and usually cries along with them. However he always manages to patch things up and make them feel better.Cashmere Says... wrote:How'd you like to be left on the sidewalk with a skinned knee?!
Not knowing so many people has made Cashmere a little unprepared, maybe even naïve to the workings of the world. Therefor, he is very kind to everyone he meets even if they are not going to be kind to him. He doesn't really have any experience with bullying and doesn't know how to respond to things like that. To him, the Golden Rule applies. 'Treat other how you want to be treated.' Cashmere believes that if he is nice to everyone else then they'll be nice to him. Sadly, usually this is not how the world works. One of the good things about being so naïve is that when someone makes fun of him it never really reaches all the way to his heart simply because he doesn't know what they mean. Which can be good or bad.Cashmere Says... wrote:Yes, but it's true! if you are nice to someone else, then they should be nice to you. It's all in a new manuscript I'm writing about the rules of life. Most of the rules there are the ones that would make everyone happy.
Cashmere is what you could call a dog and a hole, the dog can't resist sticking his nose in the hole. That's Cashmere. He likes to find things out, to search. He likes searching most of the time, it usually makes him feel like a detective himself! He's actually really curious. If you give him something new, most of the time he can't help but investigate. He's not a detective, but he just can't resist a challenge. Something to do that someday, might have him be the main character in a book. That's what he really likes. Once, when he was a little JMD, he was at the beach and saw a crab. He went over, as he wanted to keep it for a pet. It didn't approve and sent him with a sore paw home!Cashmere Says... wrote:What? It looked like it needed a friend. *defensively cuddles pet lizard*
Cashmere is also quite forgetful. He tends to leave things in the spot that they shouldn't be in, and then later forgets where he put them. He always seems to have that feeling that you get when you think you forgot something, and usually when he comes home from school or something like that he'll remember and the get angry at himself for forgetting. He can get quite distracted sometimes, and even forgets what he was going to do when he just walks from one room to the other room! It's quite funny to see him just thinking and getting frusterated, lke, "What did I forget now?" However the really important things he never forgets, like if he's going on a trip he might forget his watch but never his scarf.Cashmere Says... wrote:Did you know what wne ou walk through a door you are 70% more likely to forget what you were supposed to be doing then if you walked to the other side of the room? It's actually a physical object, the door, that makes you forget. Hmm... I wonder why... *runs off to library*
And above all Cashmere is really loving. Not just to his friends and family, but to everyone. He is the person that you'd want to cuddle up with, the person that you could talk to to help you take over your fears. He's happy to tuter anyone in just about anything, and catually likes teaching young Jewel Mountian Dragons to do things. Cashmere absolutely loves to research random things and then supride someone with something, for instance a stuffed animal bunny that he knitted, just randomly. One of his favorite things to attend are suprise parites, because he loves the look on the animal's face when they open the door and see all the people there that they love.Cashmere Says... wrote:SUPRISE!!
History ;;
Cashmere's history isn't the most exciting of histories.
His life started really when his younger sister was born. Her
name was decided to be Giselle. Now, as an older brother
you might think that Cashmere would be jelous, bit he adored
his younger sister. He played with her allthe time, read to er,
and pretty much would do anything for her. However Giselle
wasn't very healthy. From birth she had a defect that caused
her liver to act up, so daily activities such as sports and even
playing insturememts was affected. Mostly because she could
only eat certain things, now, as Cashmere's sister grew older,
they grew even closer. She sometimes got very angry at the
disease and took all her anger out on Cashmere but he under
stood and tolerated it- if only just for her. When she turned
seven, her liver started acting up again and she suffered
from a severe reaction in her liver to some food she had
eaten and died. Both Cashmere and his family were saddened.
Cashmere's life changed as he adapted living life without his
someone rambunctious but lovable little sister. That was the
first major thing in Cashmere's life. The next was moving
out to live on his own. Cashmere decided to move somewhere
not very crowded and full of quaint little bookstores and
antique shops- exactly his style. So, he moved Aderondack
mountains. He purchased a little cottage of his own and loves
spending all day there. Making friends wasn't too much of a
problem, as most of the people living there were exactly like
him- bookworms and anti-social. One of his favorite things
to do, though, was watch the wildlife. The mountains are
known for having lots of deer, bear, and really wildlife in
general. Every morning he'd take a long walk outside, looking
for inspiration and watching animals move. Being crafty he
even constructed a dream catcher out of sticks! His life
changed dramatically, because he wasn't reminded of Giselle
at every step and his parent's grief didn't drag him down
anymore. He had a new life and was loving the independancy.
Thelast most influential thing that happened to Cashmere was
when he started working in the bookshop. This was where he
met me, along with many other people. He first wanted to work
in the bookstore when he realized that when you live alone, you
have to make money somehow. It seemed like the best job there
was to him so he took it. He had a lot of fun because he knew
most of the other employees personally and liked the bookstore.
He loved it all. The smell of newly printed books may sound funny
to some people but to Cashmere, it was perfect. Plus he got
discounts on books. *evil grin* It was there that he and I met.
It was during the fall, and I was chilly so I went into the shop
for some tea. Then I saw Cashmere and started a conversation
with him.Once I got to know him he offered for me to come live
with him. I said yes of course and we have lives together for a
while ever since. (I'm an author so we get togetherlike two peas
in a pod.) The bookstore became somewhat of an idol, as we
both worked there. I spent more time at home though because I
was busy wracking my brain for an idea to publish.
Likes ;;
Old Movies Cashmere has always been attracted to the
old, black and white movies. They are all about silly things that
don't really matter, and all of them have one certain bad guy. It
isn't that Cashmere doesn't like complexity, but sometimes he
just likes going back to the basic 'good guy bad guy' thing.
Gardening While he almost never does it, when he does
it's one of his favorite things to do. He loves getting his paws
dirty, just for once at least. He also enjoys watching the plant
grow. And who doesn't like eating the finished product? He
does make fun, summer salads just for me and you.
Yellow While being Cashmere;s favorite color, he has
special preferences. He only likes cream colored yellows, not
mustard yellow of bright, neon yellow. he owns a tail bracelet
that is the cream colored yellow that he loves so much. Think
corn, or butter. One of the reasons fall is his favorite.
Dislikes ;;
Plastic There really isn't an explination for this.
Cashmere doesn't like 'modern' things and would rather have
something made of wood then plastic. He hates the smell,
feel, and really everything of plastic. If it were up to him, he'd
wear wood sneakers instead of plastic!
Brand Names on Clothing This isn't about 'nike' on your
sneakers. He hates it how you buy a pretty shirt but it has to
have a stupid name in it, like Fitch. It drives him crazy, and
he pretty much never buys from that brand. heck, he'll even
avoid the stores they sell them in!
Cauliflower Ther really isn't an explination for this.
He'd rather have broccoli then cauliflower. He doesn't
know why it has the name flower in it. Flowers? They
don't compare to cauliflower. Flowers to cauliflower is
like cake to chalk. To him.
How did he get his scarf;;
First off, Chasmere loves his scarf. Adores it. Won't go anywher
without it. He got it when he was very little. It was in fact
right after his sister, Giselle was born. Since Cashmere was
still so young, he thought of making a blanket for his new
favorite person, his baby sister. So he went and bought
from a local store some bright green cloth. And when I say
bright, I mean bright. This wool wasn't neon green, rather
a dark green that seemed to emanate light from deep inside
it. Cashmere found it perfect and decided that it would have
to do. He purchased it immidiately. The bell on the shop's door rang as Cashmere
opened it. He smiled at the shop owner, who knew
him by sight because as a budding knitter Cashmere
came to this exact shop often. This time, however,
he was making something for someone else. Browsing
the shelves, he grinned when he saw a cotton candy
pink and blue string. But then he shook his head, thinking,
That's too typical. I want something new. He also
saw a pale, cream colored yellow, which he was torn on
at the end, He looked through all the bins and could
only imagine the shopkeepers thoughts. I bet he thinks
I look so strange, rummaging around so furiously in the
bins. I guess I look what I am- a dragon on a mission.
Then his eyes wandered and saw a bright green, very
fuzzy ball of yarn. It the last one on the shelf and then
he realized that that it was perfect - it would accent
Giselle's brown eyes beautifully. He ducked under a few
old ladies' outstretched arms and grabbed ball, running
the the counter. The shopkeeper regarded him over
half moon glasses but gave him the yarn. Cashmere
raced out of the shop feeling confident.
So Cashmere got out his knitting needles and went through
his book of different kinds of knitting - like how you could
weave little kites onto the fabric. However he finally settled
on one that looked almost like stairs. He started the blanket
and was pleasedto discover that it worked perfectly. The green
was a great color for this particular stitch and he worked on it
all day and all of the next. It was only until he was halfway that
he realized how good it looked, and he kept at it, working until
he was so tried he could barely stand let alone see what he was
supposed to be knitting. Finally the day came when he was
finished. It was the perfect size, the perfect everything really.
He was right, it did look amazing with his sister's eyes so from
then on he called her Hazel."Hazel!" This was what everyone had taken to
calling Cashmere's little sister. It even sounded like
Giselle, and fit her perfectly. All you needed was one
look at her eyes to see that the name was perfect,
especially when she had her 'blankie'. This was the
green blanket he had made for her, she carried it
around everywhere she went. Cashmere smiled
remembering the look on her face when he had given
it to her. She was just a baby then so she didn't
remember now what had happened. It was blurry for
Cashmere even. He was jerked back to the present
as he watched Hazel swing on the kiddy swing at a
playground near their house. It was one of her favorite
activities and sometimes even Cashmere would join
her. Only on a really good day though. Today-today
is one of those days.Cashmere decided and jumped
up on the redness swing. It rusted and creaked under
his weight. He was not very heavy but these swings
were meant for children. Oops. He slowly swung
back and forth watching his sister go higher and higher.
"Look at me!" She cried, exhilarated.
It wasn't long before the blanket got so worn that it wasn't
even useable as a blanket. Giselle refused to give the
blanket up, so Cashmere, always willing to help, turned it
into a nice coat that Giselle now wore to school every day.
It got to the point where Cashmere was afraid that the
seams on the coat would fall off. One day just that happened.
The pocket of the coat bust off and Hazel, wailing, showed it
to Cashmere who sewed it bac on. However this started
happening more and more until the coat was just too fragile
to use as a coat anymore. By this time, Giselle was about
five.He decided to turn it into a vest that this time Giselle
wore less as to keepit longer. It still got worn however
and by the nest year he decided tomake it into a scarf. He
folded it over this time so that it would last longer.Gnawing on his lip, concentrating, Cashmere
slowly moved the needle towards the folded-over-to-
be-scarf. He doubled it over this tome so thatit would
last longer and so that Giselle could wear it more. I
wonder what I'llmake it next, after it's all worn out.
He thought to himself. It was getting flat as it was and
was much less fuzzy then it had been when he had
bought the yarn all those years ago. However, before
finishing up this time he though he should add some
thing else. As a blanket, jacket, and vest it looked
fine as it was but as a scarf it needed that extra zang.
He pondered it for a moment and then decided what
would work. Walking to the crafts store he purchased
a lenth of dyed green faux leather. The then strung it
from top to bottom on the scarf. It looked much better
now- and much less liable to tear appsrt. Hiding it in a
brown paper sack he raced down the stairs. "Hally birth-
day, Giselle!" She gave him a quizzical look. "But it isn't
my birthday, Cashy!" He smiled and responded, "Every
day is your birthday, my Hazelnut." She blushed under
his praise and openedthe bag. The look of happiness on
her face was more the worth of any time spent
making the scarf for her.
But then Giselle died soon after that. Cashmere was forced to
take the scarf. Hewitt it on the long hike to the Mountains
and got used to wearingit. Soon, he wore it every day and was
inseparable with it c: He still wears it today and would swear
that we is gping to wear it for as long as he lives. It's now
all torn up and worn and a corner is black because he brushed
up against some tar, but it's his and he loves it.
Username ;;Maddyoll
Name ;;Cashmere
Personality ;;Quite shy and quiet. He doesn't tend to talk a lot, and when he does it's always important (well, almost always that is.) He does control snow and blizzards and such, and so he loves cold winter days more than hot summer ones. He is very cunning though, and always seems to know what to say. He's quick on his feet and loves to run and jump around wildly. He loves the feel of cashmere, hence his name, and his favorite possession is his scarf. He loves all things citrus and his drink of choice has to be cappuccino with stiff foam. He doesn't enjoy listening to mainstream music, and can be a little immature at times. His favorite song has to be Coffee and Cigarettes by Never Shout Never. He isn't extremely curious, besides finding new clothing accessories, and enjoys anything retro.
History ;;Life has been very hard for this young fellow. Ever since he was born it was just one disaster after another! When he was born, his mother had a terrible disease and died while she was giving birth. He survived though, and has 2 siblings. He then lived on as a toddler, where he fell and busted his lip, which now has a gross scar. when he became a teen, one of his siblings was murdered by a burglar who broke into his home. Now in his adulthood he forgets about the past and keeps an optimistic look on life, and just keeps looking forward.
Where/How did he get his scarf (required);;"Oh come on!" I complained as the rock I attempted to skip landed in the water with a loud 'KER-PLUNK!'
"I'm horrible at this game!" I said angrily. "Cheer up!" my friend replied. "You'll get better.... eventually..." He said in an attempt to comfort me. "Oh, please." I replied. "Why are we doing this anyway? Skipping stones is a pointless activity.." I mumbled. "What waws that? You not having fun?" My friend nudged me.
