Story:
Regina nibbled at the bright green grass under the warm spring sun. A breeze ruffled her fur and she threw her head up suddenly, realizing it was the perfect day to explore! The impulsive equid immediately set off at a jog towards a thick forest. She broke until a canter with excitement and leapt over a berry bush at the edge of the woods. She dodged tree here and there then slowed to a walk to take in her surroundings. She looked at the canopy overhead, only allowing splotches of the bright sunlight through. Butterflies flew about and birds dashed through the air from tree to tree. Regina saw a “light at the end of the tunnel,” which was really just the edge of the woods. She broke into a steady canter and ran out into the sunlight.
Regina saw a beautiful sight. A waterfall poured endlessly before her eyes into a small river, which ran down the hill side. The grass was long and the brightest green Regina had ever seen. Wild flowers dappled the grass’s surface and created a beautiful contrast. Regina trotted through the chest length grass towards the waterfall, stirring up many colorful butterflies. When Regina reached the edge of the pool below the waterfall she sipped from its crystal clear, pure water. She waded in and noticed a little baby bird on the other side of the pool. She swam to the other side and noticed other grown birds. These birds were called Quero-Quero.
Thinking that the baby Quero-Quero was simply adorable Regina walked up to it. She bent her head down and sniffed it. Soon she heard a loud, insistent, squawking coming form behind her. The squawks sounded angry, and boy, they were! Regina looked at the strange adult Quero-Quero who held their wings out by their sides, revealing small orange spike. Regina had never seen a bird with spikes on its wings and was very intrigued by these Quero-Quero. She walked over to an adult one and put her had down to look at it. The Quero-Quero thought she was attacking them and all the birds rushed at her with their spikes out. Some flew at her sides, while others just scratched Regina’s legs.
Regina jumped away from the ferocious birds and ran through the pool. They squawked at her angrily even once she reached the other side, as if to say “and stay away!” Regina looked at the birds once more then licked her small cuts and set off for home, never to anger another Quero-Quero again, although she was still very fascinated by the strange bird.
She's gorgeous! And it was a lot of fun writing that (: Haha I really want to see a Quero-Quero now!
