Type: Baby Sunflower Rune"Congratulations, it's a boy!""This bright little boy is the offspring of Iggy and Nymph. His appearance certainly takes after his mother's more flowery side and is mostly seen among the tall stalks of sunflower fields. His happy demeanor and ever present smile uplifts those around him as he tends to the seeds that fall from the tall flower. Sunflower Runes can be seen collecting the seeds of these flowers and planting them in fertile ground so more may bloom. They are even used to help farmers gather them for trade and as a salty treat for children and Runes. While this little boy can only collect a few seeds at a time due to his small size, he loves to carry around some of the smaller sunflowers and present them as gifts to guest and friends alike."

PM's: Open

Owner Name:
Sphie
Bearer Name:
Silver Vivizae
Why do you wish to have him/her:
Adorbableness, to sum it up in a word.
He seems so bright and sunny and oh-so-happy, so who wouldn't want him?![]()
I think he would get along great with my other rune, Canvas, too.
Where will you keep him/her:
My Character Thread, and depending on sizing
and such I might be able to put him in my signature.
Name:
Expecto Lux, meaning "Look for the Light".
Gender:
Male
Personality:
Optimistic|Contended|Curious
Expecto is cheerful, an attitude that is quite contagious. He loves to pick out the good of a situation, often making it his own game to do so. He is calm and contended, happy to just observe life. He is not particularly outgoing, simply because he is happy to let others go on with what they do, though he is not in any way unfriendly.
Personality Pros: Happy, cheerful, encouraging.
Personality Cons: Vague, occasionally oblivious.
Would you like to breed him in the future:
I might consider such in the future, but it would be a while off.
Any Quirks:
Such a strange little rune, Expecto likes to eat his kind's namesake, sunflower seeds.
He also likes pumpkin seeds and peanuts, so it could just be that he likes to eat nuts and seeds.![]()
He also loves lemongrass scented anything.
His dream come true would probably be a field of lemongrass on a sunny day.
Poem:
Since the beginning, it has been told,
Undying happiness is worth more than gold.
Never has there been reason to doubt,
Lies are not things of which proverbs spout.
I believe in joy,
Goodwill and cheer,
Happiness ringing for all to hear.
To each and every, may Sunlight appear.
Story:
Expecto awoke with the dawn, quickly shaking away any tiredness remaining from the night. Today felt important, special.
Hopping up from his small nest cradled in the split of a sunflower stalk, Expecto climbed to the top of the flower to view the rising sun. Orange, pink, and purple blended themselves beautifully into the natural masterpiece, one of the best he had seen yet. The sunrise surely was his favorite time of the day, the light coming back to warm the cold earth, chasing away darkness and fear, a symbolic wonder as much as literal.
Focusing on his hunger after not eating all night, he nibbled at the sunflower head, crunching the seeds open, the deliciousness very special to him. Perhaps he might even fly over to the pumpkin fields today to look for sun-baked pumpkin seeds. Yes, perhaps he would, but it could wait for later.
Expecto heard a sound, something stirring on the ground, rustling the sunflower stalks. Looking down, he saw a human and a Rune Dragon lying on the ground, both beginning to stir. He folded two sunflower heads around himself, hiding while he determined the intent of the two, realizing even as he did so that they had been sleeping and probably weren't dangerous. Nonetheless, he stayed hidden, not feeling like intruding upon their sleep just yet.
The human yawned, sitting up to stretch, much to the displeasure of the rune dragon that had been asleep on her chest, and now tumbled down. The human mumbled something that could be interpreted as sounding like an apology, scooping up the Rune that was now attempting to give her the cold shoulder.
Expecto leaned out of his makeshift camouflage a bit, accidentally losing balance. As he tumbled out of the top layer of sunflowers, he attempted to right himself with his wings, which were unfortunately not that strong yet. The prismatic rune dragon saw him first, flapping her wings to fly and catch him, while making sure to hit the human at least a little with her wing tips. She reached out with her claws, catching hold of the little dragon's tail. He squeaked a small "Thanks," before scrambling to the ground.
"Hello," He said. "Thank you for saving me, miss..." He trailed off not knowing the name of the either the dragoness nor the human.
"Canvas is fine," She replied in the language of the rune dragons. "I am Canvas, and this is Silver," she said, gesturing with her wing toward the human, who nodded as though understanding. "She can understand me, but not most runes, for some reason. What is your name though, little tumbler?" She asked, smiling the slightest bit.
"My name is Expecto Lux, but anyone calls me Expecto."
She nodded. "Expecto, huh? Pleased to meet you."
"And I as well," said Silver, apparently catching some of his speech. "Do you live here, Expecto?" she asks him.
"I do." He says simply.
"On your own?" she inquires.
"Yes. Why do you ask?"
"Well," she begins, looking at Canvas, who continues her sentence. "You could travel with us, mayhaps? We are currently traveling, albeit usually less exposed," Canvas says, sweeping her wings about to imply the field. "We haven't met another rune before this, though. I'm sure we would get on well." Canvas smiled, as did Silver, waiting for my reply. It was a sudden offer, but a tempting one. The fields were very serene and calm, a beautiful and easy place to live, but he knew that soon enough the fields would be harvested, leaving him without a home until they were grown again in the spring. It would also be nice to see more of the world that he knew so little of, aside from this, his own little corner. It was hardly a real choice, when boiled down.
"I'm in."
Mini-Story
(I recommend playing this while reading this.)
"Ready?" Canvas asks Expecto, moving a few of the paint brushes over with her tail.
"Yup!" He replies. The looks over everything set up: A paint palette and various paints, a canvas, and an assortment of paintbrushes.
Expecto is getting an art lesson.
"Okay then," Canvas starts, "You can start off by choosing what you want to paint."
It took all of two seconds for Expecto to choose. "A sunflower!"
"A bit full of ourselves, are we?" Canvas says jokingly. "A sunflower would probably look best with a dark background. Go ahead and use one of the larger brushes like so..." She pauses to paint her own canvas dark gray, using her tail to hold the brush. "There, now you try."
Expecto attempts to pick up the brush with his own tail, dropping it several times, before trying with his claws, and finally his mouth, none of which provide any fruit for his labors.
Canvas rubs her neck, thinking of a way for him to paint without holding the brush in any way already tried.
"I know! Why don't you use your tail as the brush?" she suggests hopefully.
"Won't Silver get upset if I get messy?"
"Not if you clean yourself up afterward." she says confidently.
Deciding to trust her, Expecto dips his tail in the paint, choosing a dark brown and smearing it across his canvas.
"Good! Now just smooth the edges a bit..." Canvas chimes in, helping when necessary.
Next they start on the petals.
Choosing a light gold, Expecto uses the tip of his tail to paint the shape of a petal onto the dark base, and then another, and another. Paint drips from his tail to the floor, and he continues painting until a ring of gold is completed on his canvas.
"Good, now let's fill in the center before we shade it."
Paint continues to drip, unnoticed by the two happy little dragons.
"And now we'll add the shading and highlights. Oh, don't blend the colors, though!"
Splash, drip, drip, drip, splash...
Finally, two amazing paintings are shown for their work.
"Good job! Who would ever guess it's you first time painting?" Canvas says excitedly, before turning to see the mess on the floor and, somehow, on the walls and ceiling.
"Oh, I sincerely hope Silver isn't back for a while."
