A tiny fawn runs nimbly along the landscape, running from the winter and chasing the summer. Lush green leaves on the trees turn, their colours brilliant against the cooling land. Yellows, reds, and oranges light up the landscape as the little fawn flies around.
As her bitty hooves strike the ground, the grass changes from green to yellow and withers in preparation for the snow to come. As she passes the newly warm-coloured trees, they begin to drop their leaves to scatter across her path. Fall comes fast, and is gone equally as fast.

[From Alia's POV]
I can still remember that a long time ago, my favorite book ever was Peter Pan. Well, that's wrong. For as long as I can remember, my favorite book is Peter Pan. You see, I'm different in the way that I can never, ever grow up. I am destined to walk alone for my lifespan, but that doesn't mean that I can't grow up in the way of my mind... even if my body will never get bigger.
Alia is a quiet, serious fawn that tries to seem like a normal kid. Some times, however, she knows that she can't keep her feelings hidden forever, and as she jumps in the leaves and plays tag just like any other kid, she quietly worries about rejection. How she even speaks and walks tells of her difference in growth, however, and Alia sometimes hates her role as a Fall God, or as she calls it, Bringer of the Red Leaves.
When angry, Alia trys to blink away tears and hide from everyone until she feels better. She hates people thinking she is weak and small, and prefers oftentimes to just walk under the fall trees.
Her favorite color is redish orange, of course, one of her choice leaf colors. She prefers the weather slightly cold, but dislikes any extremes.

Short One:
The brown leaves under my steady hoof beats crackled as I chased after the fawns. It was towards the end of autumn, and my job was over for another year. All the fawns were about half a year older me, or so they thought. They treated me a bit like a runt, saying that I shouldn't have been born so late and I probably wouldn't make the winter. But I had made it many, many times before, so I had a feeling that I would be just fine.
My small body was soon gasping and struggling to keep up, and one of the nice fawns, a male by the name of Senri, slowed down a little to race beside me. His fur had a light bronze colored dusting to it, and his eyes were warm as he helped me to my feet when I tripped and went tumbling. "Are you okay?" He asked softly, nudging me.
"I'm adequate, thank you." I said in annoyance, then, seeing his stare, blush and look down at my hooves. "I meant, I'm fine, sorry. I don't know why I said that."
"It's fine." We looked towards the direction the others had skidded off to, and Senri shrugged. "They will have to come back to the herd eventually. Let's just walk around and enjoy the leaves while it lasts. You like the color of them, right?" He asked, with a knowing glance.
I stiffened. "How did you come to this knowledge?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. Senri gently butted me. I could feel the beginnings of small antlers, and I blinked up at him. He wasn't that much taller than me, just a few leaf lengths, but I still had to tilt my head up. "It wasn't hard to guess. That's why you roll in mud and leaves to get them to stick to your back like that, right?"
"O-oh. Well, yes, you're legitimate. I mean, right."
"Why do you always correct yourself?" Senri asked with a laugh. "I like your big words, Alia."
"But I'm different. The others can all tell." I whispered. Senri looked into my eyes, then whispered. "Maybe that's not a bad thing."
I stayed with Senri's herd for a little while, but had to depart once I knew that my inability to grow and have fawns would always force me apart from the young buck who loved me. It caused me great pain to leave him, but I knew that there was no choice. It was time to find another gathering of deer to tag along with. At least for a while.
Poem One
Fall always chases summer
I know this, I'm not a newcomer
The trees turn gold
as summer grows old
And winter prepares
It's deadly snares
Watch the leaves fall to the ground
They weigh less than even a pound
The young ones are almost all grown up now
But I can't grow up- I don't know how.
My job is forever,
And I know that never
Will I have a family of my own
Free my my shackles of fall to roam
This was the job given to me
I'm not free,
but as I stand under the fall red leaves
I feel at peace here, come and see.
