Height: 14.2hh
Gender: female
Rarity: Uncommon
Poem:
Beyond the lands of green merging to the sea of jaune
is said to show a type of horse born from the desert sun.
She is spoken in fondness by all who see her,
with a rippling mane like the wind wayward dunes,
and speckles like the filtered midday sun
before the arrival of the thankful rains.
Her voice is that of an angel after years of bleak;
a glimpse of Pandora from the pits of Tartarus.
A wild beauty so untamed,
that to want it as your own
would be to plagarize the thoughts of many.
But as beauty flies,
she, like all before her,
drift like the wayward sand
under the bright of the midday sun...

Poem:(this is my first try at a pantoum, might come back and edit later)

A speck of gold on the dunes of sand
A fleeting ghost of a mare so pure
Untamed by mans reaching hand
A beauty of which we can't be sure

A fleeting ghost of a mare so pure
Her coat like satin, her mane like silk
A beauty of which we can't be sure
Her stockings white as milk

Her coat like satin, her mane like silk
The embodiment of power and grace
Her stockings white as milk
Her hooves running an endless race

The embodiment of power and grace
Untamed my mans reaching hand
Her hooves running an endless race
A speck of gold on the dunes of sand

Every sailor knows
that the sea is a friend made enemy
Every shipwrecked soul
knows what it is to live without intimacy
I thought I heard the captains voice
but its hard to listen while you preach
Like every broken wave on the shore
this is as far as I could reach

O.O
wow, I am such a sucker for pallys...

Owner: ~Bast~
Horse Name: Cosette
Height: 14.2hh
Gender: Mare
Rarity: Uncommon
Poem: (Told from her point of view.)

Feel the roll and the step and the thud and the beat,
carrying you over land to the place where land and sky meet.
The whistle of wind that sounds through your mind,
the twisting and bending and turning of time.

Don't slow your canter, don't stutter your feet,
just keep racing faster to find what you seek.

It's on the horizon, like the pot of gold;
you chase and track, but never will hold.
And what's that you're seeking,
That you never will reach?
What's so important about that sight
to capture your heart and hold it so tight?

Don't slow your canter, don't stutter your feet,
just keep racing faster to find what you seek.

Your golden coat glows in the heat of the sun,
as your long legs flash faster in a race to be won.
But the prize is still further, just out of reach-
A still pool of liquid
On this waterless beach.

Don't slow your canter, don't stutter your feet,
just keep racing faster to find what you seek.

And further and faster, the roll and the beat,
you seem to shine bright in the desert's heat.
Your keen eyes strain forward
through thick hazy air,
and look for a flash to prove the water's still there.

Don't slow your canter, don't stutter your feet,
just keep racing faster to find what you seek.

But the sun now is fading and so is your strength.
The rays slip away and take with them the heat.
And the swirling airs still,
the mirage goes away.
Only your memory ever could stay.

Slow now your canter, your stuttering feet,
just keep clinging harder to the hope that you seek.

The moon is a kinder mistress by far,
she cools your coat and clears your heart.
Her soft light will guide you through this dark.
And there is the flash of water to drink
On the dark surface the moon's light
Seems to wink.

Slow now your canter, your stuttering feet,
You've found the mirage that held all that you seek.

He is perfection <333 A golden ray of sun ^^ Totally applying :3

Owner:
Ashwyn;;

Horse Name:
Sol
{Of Latin origin, means quite simply 'sun'}

Height:
14.2hh

Gender:
Stallion

Rarity:
Uncommon

Poem:
On golden boughs of suns first light
Speeding swift his earthbound flight.
Caught amidst the rays of dawn
His glorious coat so blithely shone.
In blazing eyes great knowledge dwelt
And howling winds were barely felt
For Sol the wise kept counsel close
His strength of body more than most.
Raised by sand and fed by heat
Survival not an easy feat
And thus it built a stronger steed
Not afraid of any deed.

Years raced by with none for company
Yet to his ears silence was the sweeter symphony
With overflowing spirit as he daily raced the dunes
Sol felt not a yearning for the sweetest of lagoons.
Content to wander freely in desert pure and true
He never thought one day a tempest storm would brew.
Yet brew it did and swept him in its claws
Gnashing teeth and clashing giant maws.
When storm was done it tossed him back to ground
And there in stillness touch of death was found.
Dashed to earth with not a care or thought
Yet landed in oasis that chance bought.

Weak and spent he finally lay still.
Breathing barely on a grassy hill.
And in that way a mare did find him hence
Not strong enough to even faintly tense.
In gentle spirit she chose to him tend
In hope that she some strength to him might lend.
And as days passed and Sol regained his life
Healed beyond the reach of cold deaths strife.
Ever grateful he did stay with gentle mare
And of her swiftly found himself aware.
Touched by charm and sculptures hand
To him her beauty brightened up the land.
And to his shock a new emotion felt
That of love which causes heart to melt.

Of his fancy did he speak to her.
And to delight she gave to him her answer.
That from first sight he had enchanted soul
Inspired love like that of newborn foal.
And she alone could surely not survive.
For in his presence only could she thrive.
To this sweet news he raised a joyous cry
And thought his heart might burst and he would die.
He pledged his life in that adoring time
And thought he heard the wind around him chime.

And so he found a partner for his race
Alone no more was Sol in speeding chase
His mate so fair, Calista was her name
Joined him gleefully in tender lovers game.
Together faced the struggle of lifes test
Fought together to remain the best.

And so if as you watch the desert cruel.
And don't dissuade yourself as just a fool,
You may perchance encounter through the sunset
Sol and Calista in their graceful duet
Running side by side across the sand,
Like sunset fair the two together grand.

{Oh my word XD This turned waaaaay too long ROFL. Well, my mom liked it so I just tweaked it a tiny bit XD Hope you enjoy it Alley, I tried doing something a little different, no clue if it got the effect I was looking for. Have fun judging!!! Lots of amazing entries ^^}

Horse Name: Lux - simply means "light" in Latin.
Height: 14.2hh
Gender: Mare
Rarity: Uncommon
Poem:
Oh wind of the North,
What tidings do you bear?
Can you tell me of a mustang, golden and fair?
Her mane is like light, her spirit is strong -
Have you seen her, oh wind?
For the shadows grow long.

Oh wind of the South,
What news do you bring?
Can you speak of an appaloosa, as bright as spring?
Her footsteps are like magic, her gait is no less -
Have you seen her, oh wind?
For she tarries, and I stress.

Oh wind of the East,
What have you to tell?
Do you know of a mare, a beautiful belle?
Her call is magnificent, her coat shines bright -
Have you seen her, oh wind?
For it is coming into night.

Oh wind of the West?
Have you seen her? Have you seen?
Her fire burns bright, my eye is keen.
I have searched, for days, and I have not found,
My sould is disheartened, my hope has been drowned.
For I must leave, my time is nigh
I will shout my last battle-cry.

Fear not, oh weary traveller.
I have heard, I can say.
I saw the golden mare, at the middle of the day.
Her mane was streaming, she ran furiously -
She is galloping, galloping, back to thee.

Oh wind!
Blow swiftly! Bring her hither!
The night is cold, and even now I shiver.
I can see her now - like a banner in the storm -
Oh thank you, oh wind,
My spirit is reborn.

And with my lady, at my side,
I can take my final breath.
For I know, I am now happy,
Finally at rest.

Moonlight whispers
Set desert earth alight
As thundorous hooves
Make misty dreams take flight

Mane flowing golden
Like the wind and dancing grain
Singing to end the sorrow
Praying to bring the rain

Stars shine above her
And the bright let's her fly
Seeing her poison tears
Hearing her cused cries

Joy fills her to the brim
As water rains from above
And the sky sings glorious
As the miracle silences her cries

Poem:
(When I saw this contest, I couldn't resist. I've been writing haikus all week, so I'll write a couple about him, too ^^)

Sculpture of sandstone
Walks amongst the twisting dunes.
Sands part at his hooves.

O' forlorn mirage!
Set against the melting sun
Proud, but still alone.

Petite and demure,
Other mustangs seem to mock.
None invite him in.

A shrieking neigh rings
Across the vast emptiness.
No reply sings back.

Veiled by dark of night,
The King of Sand shrinks against
Unrelenting cold.

Glow of dawn arrives.
Desert wakes under its touch
Nomad journeys on.

Poem:
My coat bright as the sun,
Hooves beating fast as I run,
Through the Deserts I play,
No one place I shall stay.

So few have seen me,
At first glimpse I will flee,
I gallop freely, so fast,
You'll only feel me run past.

I shroud the dark with light
When what's needed is sight,
And warm the night chill,
So mysterious still.

Legends surround me,
Of those that did see,
The sun coated mare,
So beautiful and rare.

(I know she's an uncommon, but I'm for some reason thinking she'd be very rare to spot, with her golden coat in the desert she'd be well hidden most of the time, hence the rarity of someone seeing her).

I tried to leave the poem on the left but I found it easier to read centered. If you want me to leave it on the left I'll edit it :)
