Why do you want it? Cheetahs have always had a spot in my heart. They're a beautiful creature with awesome qualities....I've always dreamed of having one (or two!) as a pet c:
Art (optional): I hope you don't mind, but I would like to write as though he's an actual cheetah. Chances are, if I win, I'll just use this design, and have this as a ref. for colors.A peaceful golden glow stretched across the dry earth of the safari as the sun slowly peeked up from where it had rested behind towering trees just moments earlier. Bomani opened one drowsy eye, blinking in the unexpected light. With a large yawn, he stretched his lean paws in front of him, stretching. He blinked lazily and rolled around in the dirt, enjoying the morning's warmth, before scrambling to his paws. The cloudless sky promised a long, hot day of hunting and exploring, two things that Bomani enjoyed greatly!
Bomani scanned his surroundings carefully, his brilliant brown eyes picking out the tiniest hints of movement. All the while, Bomani was carefully flicking away pesky flies from his soft coat with his tail. When he was certain the area was clear of danger, he began to walk away from his resting spot. As he traveled, his pace gradually quickened until he broke into a sprint, his paws slamming against the earth as he bounded through the clearing. After a peaceful sleep it was refreshing to stretch his paws and loosen his muscles.
Finally, Bomani came to a halt, panting gently. Movement to the east had caught his attention; a herd of wildebeest were huddles just a few hundred yards away, grazing. Bomani licked his chops, trying to remember the last time he had eaten a decent meal. He rose to his feet, ducking low to the ground to hide beneath the tall grass. As far as he could tell, he hadn't been detected by the wildebeest. His tail flicking eagerly, he carefully made his way closer and closer, until he was just a few hundred feet away from them.
Suddenly a loud shot rang through the air, echoing through the air and sending the wildebeest into a panicked frenzy. The fur along Bomani's neck and back rose in alarm. His eyes darted back and forth, searching for the danger. Suddenly the wildebeest began moving, running away from the direction of the shot. Bomani's eyes stretched wide in horror as he realized with a jolt that they were heading directly toward where he lay, hidden beneath the grass.
With a moment's hesitation, Bomani darted away, painfully aware of the herd closing in on him. He could hear the thunder of their hooves against the ground. Soon he could feel their breath on his back. Quickening his pace, Bomani waited until he had put a large distance between him and the danger before darting to the side and carefully avoiding them. Stopping to catch his breath, Bomani watched as the herd continued past him, each one leaving a different set of prints on the dusty ground. But Bomani was no longer thinking about the herd, or his narrow escape. He was focused on one thing...what had made that horrible noise?
