Equid's name: Quiescere (Quies) A name I made up meaning still and quiet one.
Personality: Quiescere is the sort of Equid you would find staring off into the distance, and then, the next moment, turning suddenly and saying something profound to the nearest Equid such as: 'the sky isn't really sky blue... If you look closer it is actually more of a delicate azure shade of aquamarine. So why do we call it sky blue? I suppose it's quicker to say...' She is known as the 'quiet cloud' in her herd with an imagination bigger than Jupiter and she is extremely witty and unusual, yet very sweet and friendly. She is a daydreamer who lives in a world of her own fantasies. She delights in the smallest things like watching the grass sway one way in a rippling breeze, or listening to the sound of a chuckling brook. Whenever it rains, Quies does not run for shelter, she stands right in the middle of the meadow and twirls under the silver drops, tossing her creamy mane and smiling. She seems to have no fear of thunderstorms and hardly ever shows her fear if she does become scared of anything around her. Her open mind gives her an optimistic, inquisitive attitude and she brings out the good side in everyone. However, her innocence leaves her vulnerable and she relies on the protection of her close friends and family to keep her from harm or from stallions who may not be so kind to her. As she finds it hard to see the bad intentions of any Equid (especially young stallions) she needs a mate who is strong and kind who can lead her in the right direction. As she is very humble and modest with not much self confidence, she always brushes off compliments that she gets and does not realise that the Equid complimenting her may infact have really wanted more of a response. She is a very loyal mare and once she finds her soul mate, she will never leave him. Her sweet and caring nature is what makes her so well loved by her herd. She goes out of her way to help others and always puts other Equids or any animal before herself. She is very sensitive to others words but never lets it show. She tries to keep her feelings hidden and only let's those she really trusts know how she feels. Some Equids find it hard to have a conversation with her as the topic changes very frequently while she is involved and she is very intelligent and likes to keep things rolling as to make the ultimate use of her time. Her thoughtful nature makes her the beautiful, slightly strange and inquisitive Equid she is and always will be.
Likes and dislikes: Quiescere is not a very picky mare and delights in many more things than what she hates. Infact, she believes that if you dislike something, you should just avoid it/ignore it and therefore you wouldn't have to dislike it ever again, and you would be left in the world surrounded by the things you love. Quiescere loves most things but the things she likes best are:
•Pebbles that are unusual colours.
•The sound rain makes when it splashes into streams.
•Daisies and collecting them into small piles to blow at with her nose to watch them float on the breeze for a while.
•Her herd and all her family and friends.
•Watching and listening to streams run over the rocks and turn into mini gushing waterfalls.
•Chasing the hawks above across the meadows and up the steep sides of the mountains.
•Lying under the shade of her favourite tree on hot days and thinking up new questions to ask her friends.
•Dancing in the rain in a storm or just when it's drizzling.
•Counting the stars on cold nights, under the black night sky.
•Watching the sun rise and the sun set and wondering how there are so many colours in the sky when it is peeking behind the mountains, about to vannished or emerge.
•Talking to Patch because he listens to her and asks her questions about the world too.
As much as she tries not to dislike things and keep an open mind to everything, there are some things she cannot stand.
•Certain types of pollen which make her sneeze non-stop and make it very hard to observe the world.
•Melting/dirty snow because it just goes slushy and is useless to try and do things with.
•Loud noises that disturb the peace and quiet. She often pretends that she just gets frustrated that the silence has been broken but inside, she is quite scared of loud noises in general, as she often worries about landslides and rock falls from the mountains.
•Large swarms of bees. She finds these frightening and they always make her loose her train of thought if she even just thinks about them once.
•Equids who talk non-stop. The kind of Equids who think they are the most important thing in the world.
Will you let Patch be her mate?: Well, I believe I would say yes, as I'm pretty sure that Patch is a good, sensible stallion. He would have to be able to put up with Quiescere's random ponderings about things like the colour of the sky and the sound of silence etc, but I'm sure once they got to know each other, they would be perfect together. So yes, I would let Patch be her mate, and I'm sure, given the choice, once she'd met him, Quiescere would choose him too. He would be a strong and brave stallion which would contrast with her quiet, more timid and airy nature, but they are both kind and open minded. Their differences would bring them together and they would love one another dearly.
