Whelkon Name: Demobyss (D-moe-biss)
History (About 200 words):
It's hard to keep track of so many years on occasion, but Demobyss cherishes his memories as teachings and lessons and so he remembers quite a lot. He was the second-born from his two parents, with an older brother and a younger sister. His first few decades were peaceful, for which he and his family were thankful for- but unfortunately it didn't last for very long. Him and his sister were out one day and were trapped by two human hunters. He managed to get his sister freed from them, but he was captured and enslaved. The humans forced him to work for them for years, but he managed to set himself free. He returned home and re-connected with his family, but it wasn't long before he had another incident. He had found himself a female Whelkon which he had taken an interest to- but just before they pronounced themselves as mates, they were both captured. She didn't survive, and he was kept once more as a slave for years. A younger human girl saw him one day and, despite the danger she was putting upon herself, freed him. He was always grateful to her, and vowed to find her one day.
Personality (About 200 words):
Because of all that he has been through, Demo has found himself extremely wary of many things, most of which revolve around humans. He is very hard to crack into, keeping himself withdrawn; in fact, he seems to many as mysterious, with knowledge buried within that weighs down his very soul. Which, in many cases, is true. With his family and to young Whelks, he is very open and easy-going. Most would even dare call him carefree amongst the two parties, though he would always deny that, for he likes to think that he's always on the alert. Too many times has something slipped past his observances, and he regrets each time to the point where he is going to make sure nothing like them ever happens again. Afraid to lose someone close to him again, he has found himself mate-less, despite his many years. Perhaps there is some hope for him still, but he is starting to doubt that. Good fortune has not smiled upon him, why would it start now? But... a little part of him is still hoping...
Art or Poem:
Which sign did I miss
Was it punishment for this bliss?
Was I not to enjoy her time,
As it was only quenched by their kind.
Shadows dance in my mind
Where the answers are I'm trying to find?
These memories are my lifeline
To hold and cherish and keep me on the line
Between life and death
We can only hold our breath.
The humans, they don't care
For they are not ones that would share
I have found this the hard way.
And from now on, they will be kept at bay;
For her and others, this I say:
I vow not to miss, another sign, should one ever come my way.
Was it punishment for this bliss?
Was I not to enjoy her time,
As it was only quenched by their kind.
Shadows dance in my mind
Where the answers are I'm trying to find?
These memories are my lifeline
To hold and cherish and keep me on the line
Between life and death
We can only hold our breath.
The humans, they don't care
For they are not ones that would share
I have found this the hard way.
And from now on, they will be kept at bay;
For her and others, this I say:
I vow not to miss, another sign, should one ever come my way.
Short Story (300 words max or disqualified):
He was replaying the scene over in his mind, turning it in every perspective that he could manage, trying to find what he had missed. Mysta, the female that had so swiftly gotten his attention, his complete focus, was now gone- killed. He was in the Cage as it were- he called it that because it deserved no other name than the concoction that it was- in for the night and left to dwell and think and despair. Him and the Whelkan had been enjoying their evening, having gone to one of the springs that was to be found in the forest. Perhaps the water had covered their scent, their splashings drowning out the sound of their approach?
Ting! The sound was sharp and jolted him out of his reverie. Demobyss's head jerked up, and his eyes narrowed out into the darkness of the night. He had been stuck in the Cage for years now, but never before had something approached him in the middle of the night. He was surprised when he found a kind-hearted female peering at him from between the bars. He watched her warily as she moved to the lock, and in seconds, the lock was picked. It unclicked and fell open in her hands, and she quickly removed it. The door opened, and he was slowly getting to all fours, eyeing her.
"Go, I'll cover you," the girl whispered. "You don't belong here." She all but pushed him out of the cage, and he didn't hesitate to start running once he heard one of the males' booming voices raging after his fleeing form. He could tell by the screaming match that ensued that the young girl had intercepted the man, and a fight was breaking out. He kept running.
Why you want this Whelkon (Few sentences):
Out of all the others I had to pick one of the most loved, but I just couldn't resist him. He has way too much depth for me to avoid, and it doesn't hurt that he is absolutely gorgeous. The more I stared at his picture, the more his story just seemed to get thrown at me. Found mysself filling this out even when I was trying to get myself off the computer and off to bed... |D
