▪ Personality (About 200 words): Sky Flyer or Sky for short is a calm Whelkon who likes to help everyone but when he was younger and his farther was killed he became so sad he wanted to die but then got angry then finally stop thinking like that. He thought about it for a mintue or two then became happy again and went back to his herd were he made friends with other whelkon. He is ahppy with them and sometimes misses his farther but knows he is in a better place.
▪ Short Story (300 words max or disqualified): Sky was born in a large herd with his mother and farther he loved them very much. He grew up happy as can be his farther took in a ophan Whelkon. Sky became friends with it but after a while when the Whelkon was almost fully grown hunters came into the forest and because some baby Whelkon didn't know humans were dangers went up to them his farther saw this and went and pushed the baby out of the way as the gun was shot. SKy took the baby Whelkon and ran with it making sure it was ok then went back to his farther's dead body and saw the humans putting it in a truck and driving away with it.

▪ Why you want this Whelkon (Few sentences): Sky Flyer reminds me of a night sky and the white and yellow remind me of a jet painted night blue, white, and yellow so his name for me is sky Flyer even though he can't really fly.

He's just beautiful. But then again, all of them are, lol.

XD I've been looking at Whelkon for a while,

and I couldn't decide which ones I wanted to try for.

Wind Song, when you suggested to try to look for

one it'd be easy to write a lot for,

I started thinking,

"hey, find one that you wouldn't mind using for a fursona or something."

I figured it'd be easy to write for something close to my heart.

So, when I saw the design on this one....

The design on the chest is what caught me.

It reminded me of wings, the air, flying, when I saw it.

The dark blue shades and white and gold markings sold me. :3

((Hope you didn't mind me "prettifying" it a bit. If you do, I can change it. Though, if you don't, there's more where that's comming from! XD))

"One day"
"One day our kind will know freedom"
"Freedom?" Questioned Gale; unknowing of their imprisonment in this forest of theirs.
"Yes Freedom." His father answered almost in a deep tone.
"I Don't understand Gale admitted."
"This forest this forest is our only salvation; and every day the humans close in on all sides."
"What should we do?" Gale questioned; still the adolescent at the time.
"Bid our time; and run when we can no longer bare it."
"That seems grim; admitted the younger whelkon."
"It is what it is. When it happens; I want you to guide them." His father replied.
He gingerly nodded his head to the rest of the heard.
"But how?" Questioned Gale.
"Just lead them to the best of your abilities; find a land beyond this dying place and give them hope; That is your goal."
Gale's father wasn't further from the truth. Time passed and days went on; but the humans grew in numbers and strength. It was a ticking time bomb you could say; whittling down the time before escape he could feel it. One Night it became a reality. The humans found their home. And Gale took heed from his father; gathering those he could and escaping into the night. That night their forest blazed with a thousand embers; embers that sparked in the distance.

Time went on and his small herd traveled far; till one day he met two other whelkon; Xeryus; a guiding light; and then wise Shintou. It was unusual to find another welkon; yet alone two Welk on the same very night but Gale considered it fate. Both of them saw the dire determination in his eyes and joined his small herd. With Xeryus as their guide they hope to find a home of their own.

-Head Strong/Defiant-
Gale is very head strong in the means that he is defiant against those that would hurt him or his herd. When put up to the odds he always seems to over come them. He doesn't stop till a solution has been achieved. He has faced greater and greater odds through out time; and each he tops the notch. Who knows what will come next.

-Free Willed/Courageous-
Gale follows his name; free like the gale winds. His drive is unending and the courage and stamina was borne within him as a Welk. Throughout his adolescence he has survived the seizure of his forest and has thrived in fact. Leading his herd to faraway lands for a place of sanctuary. He gives the others within his herd Hope and the courage to move past what some may think to be impossible obstacles.

-Caring/The Gentleman-
His caring nature reaches out to all; not just those in his herd. He is often known to be kind and gentle; being the type to go out of his way to help another in need.

▪ Why you want this Whelkon (Few sentences): He's just breath taking, from the moment I saw him I have kept revisiting him. Here on the page and in my thoughts. I've been sick and to be truthful while thinking about it in the shower. (It's often where I meditate.) He seemed to take a life of his own. He reminds me of a very important person in my past and his colors being blue and gold are some of my favorite combinations and I can not say how I've been rolling ideas over in my head. I already know what direction I want to approach but this would represent a huge chunk of myself. It's hard to explain without knowing me but there would be alikeness between me and him no doubt.

Storm- his colors are perfect

▪ Personality :
Storms name is perfect for him. Not just in his colors but his personality also. His best trait is his strength. His strength lets him overcome obstacles in his path. He cares for others a lot. He will sacrifice himself for others. Other than that, he's funny and kind. He fills others hearts with warmth and his encouragement causes others to feel as powerful as a storm. Most of the time he worries about the others around him more then himself. He's not selfish and will share everything in a second. He believes everyone should be treated with respect, especially females, unless proven other wise. He will stick up for anything he believes in. He's fierce as a storm. His courage and strength will swarm over you.

▪ Short Story :
He stood. Stood still as the pine and oak trees around him. His head was pointed towards the night sky. Above him swirled dark clouds on the canvass of sky. He felt a sense of pride, warm and exhilarating expand from his chest until it overtook his body. The fresh scent of rain and soil swarmed his senses as he opened his mouth to scent his surroundings. His velvet fur swayed softly in the wind,keeping time with the grass around him, moving as if an ocean of green. Thunder rumbled, causing the pebbles around his hooves bounce in time. The world around him seemed to come to life, frightened by the storm. He stood still as ever, unfeigned.The trees quivered and the grass thrashed. Leaves shook in place. The first drops of rain fell, light and cool at first. Then heavy and chilling. Lightening flashed, sparking the sky with light. Thunder followed soon, sending the earth into another quake fit. He closed his eyes, his mind replaying the lightening, brighter then ever. The storm raged on powerful and charging. Storm smiled, drenched with summer sweet rain.

▪ Why you want this Whelkon :
He's just breathtaking! You did an AMAZING job. I really hope ill win this one. If not ill surely feel envious of the winner I want this Whelkon because he's coming alive in my mind, raging like a storm. To me, his color speaks like this: dark blue, night sky, white and gold streaks for lightening. The black and grey represent the wind and shadows clouds set on the land when the pass over. So I just had to call him storm. I just can't explain how beautiful he is! The blue is really intriguing.

Bélier (pronounced BER-lee-ay. there is a reason for this, I'll explain in "why I want this Whelkon")
Goes by Bur with his friends.

▪ Personality:
If there was one word that Bélier would use to describe himself, it would be honorable. His world revolves around doing the right thing- be it having to put up with younger members of his herd, to ensuring the safety of his elders. If he were human, he would no doubt be the type of person who would open the door for a lady, or give up his seat to another on a crowded bus. As it is, he's usually the last to eat from any prey, making sure that others get their share.

On the other hand, he certainly has a healthy ego, with an attitude that could best be described as "flyboy." Although he certainly respects his elders, more often than not he believes that he knows the best way to do something and he'll take credit where credit is due. Modesty isn't really his strong suit, but he'd never take credit from someone else if they deserved it more than he did.

▪ Short Story:
Bur looked up at the sky as another one of the loud metal birds flew overhead. The other Whelkon around him ducked and scattered from the clearing, remembering weeks before when a smaller metal bird had landed and humans had swarmed out of it, killing one of the elders. The smell of his blood had tainted the clearing for over a week, and despite the hardships of finding food elsewhere, his herd had stayed away.

“Watching something?” Bur looked back to see Glyn, an older member of the herd by a few years step up behind him. “There’re more of those birds every day. Maggi wants us to leave, says this isn’t a safe place to raise little Ro.”

Bur shrugged. Glyn and he had been friend for a few years, ever since Bur had joined the herd after his own had been destroyed. One of the few other blue Whelkon that he had met, their fur color had made them both targets for the hunters. “I know what you mean, Glyn. If I had a family, I might consider leaving. But this herd, these Whelkon… They’re my family now.” He nudged Glyn. “And you know I’d gladly give my life to save you and your family.”

“Honor and valor only go so far, Bur.” Glyn looked at him seriously. “When I was your age I might’ve said the same thing. Now? Life is far preferable to death. Come with us, Bur. You’re like family to us as well.”

Bur shook his head. “I can’t take charity, Glyn. I have to make my own way in this world, survive on my own merit.” He looked up again. The metal bird was gone, leaving behind only a thin trail of smoke against the otherwise clear sky. “Someday, I’ll have to fly.”

▪ Why you want this Whelkon:
Several reasons, actually. The first being that he's gorgeous. If I thought that I could do art that could capture him, I would. But I'm not all that good. I'll be doing some, but I don't know if it would actually help my form.

Anyway, one of the other reasons that I'd love him is because he reminds me of my uncle. No, this isn't a sob story, my uncle's still alive and lives in Virginia near Washington D.C. But since's he's my only uncle on my mom's side (my only relative other than my grandma, actually, on my mom's side), so he was always there when I was growing up. When he was younger, he went to the United States Naval Academy, and the school colors happen to be blue and yellow/gold. This Whelkon's colors make me think of all the times that we would visit him in Annapolis while he was working for the USNA, which were some of my best memories growing up. Although my uncle now works in fundraising for the Academy, he used to fly planes. The white streaks surrounding the yellow line makes me think of a jet flying through the clouds.

I decided to name him Bélier, which is french for "ram," a strong, honorable animal that's the mascot of the USNA.

Meh. I feel like I didn't word that very well. But you get what I was saying, right?
