I would name this beauty Esperanza, which means hope. Her creamy colors and carefully placed markings seem to represent the makings of hope to me; happiness and sorrow, mixed together. <3

Esperanza...the poor girl. She changed...so much. Looking at her now, you couldn’t imagine she ever felt sorrow. But she did, and deep, deep sorrow it was.

Esperanza’s mother regularly explored the forests for hurt animals, even after the human’s coming made this very dangerous. One fateful night, she found an injured fawn. Esperanza’s mother stayed with the fawn all night, unconcerned with her own safety. But, at daybreak, the humans found her. Esperanza shudders to think of them. The simple word brings to mind the horrific sight she saw when she found her mother. Her body lay on the ground, her beautiful antlers pulled off, her hooves cut away. Somehow, she looked peaceful, laying there, as if asleep. But she would never wake.

Esperanza was filled with grief. It consumed her. She wouldn’t eat, wouldn’t talk. The bubbly, bright personality that had earned her so many friends disappeared.

Yet, one night, her mother appeared. She seemed to glow with a celestial light. A ghost? She settled by Esperanza’s side, her warmth suddenly more than a bittersweet memory.

But as pink colored the skies, her mother’s form seemed to shatter into a million shimmering pieces that scattered with the wind. Mother! You can’t leave me here alone! Esperanza’s eyes filled with tears. She couldn’t bear to lose her mother again. But, before she disappeared, she spoke. No, Esperanza. You’re never alone. I’ll always be with you; in your heart. Go live your life. Hold your head high. Make me proud.

Esperanza’s personality...hmm, that’s hard to describe. It’s changed, a lot, since her mother’s death. After her mother passed on, her life taken by the humans, Esperanza withdrew from the world. She shed her bright, cheerful personality and exposed raw grief and horror that soon overtook her. She talked to no one. All she would do was cry, all day, all night. When she ran out of tears, she simply sat silently, tucked away in her den. The sorrow gave way to rage and hatred. How dare they? What right had those horrid creatures to take the gentle, loving soul of her mother from this world? She burned with anger, wishing there was something, anything she could do.
But, after her mother’s spirit spoke to her, she seemed to understand. Her mother may have been taken from this world; but what better way to honor her than to do what would have made her proud? Esperanza changed that day. She was determined to carry on her mother’s job, and not let humans take away the lives of any more creatures of the forest. She has changed from a sorrowful, distant Whelkon, to a bright, kind, and loving one. One who would make her mother proud.

Why do I want Esperanza? Wow...how do I begin? Well, first off, her colors are just amazing. They’re so creamy and beautiful, with the hints of orange perfectly accenting the natural main colors. The long stripes extending from her shoulder are so unique and elegant, and they really contrast with the shorter, darker stripes they almost meet. In addition, she is so much more than just her colors, and her design. What really draws me in is...oh, how do I say this? Her feeling. She just looks so sad, yet somehow happy, and at the same time so grown up and wise...as if she’s seen everything that’s ever been and ever will be.

Yikes, I really don’t know how to put my love of her into words...because it isn’t words. It’s that tug in my gut I get when I get a glimpse of her...that dream I have about her racing nimbly through the forest...there really isn’t a way to type it...even to say it. I’ll tell you this though; I love her.

▪ History:She was born to normal parents who loved her dearly. She grew up fast and normal. She found that she loved being smart
and pretty. She started staying closer to her mother as not to get dirty. She was often made fun of beacause she didn`t want to play. As she grew up she started to understand that you could be pretty and have fun. She has lots of freinds now and almost everyone likes her. She tells others now to learn from their past.
▪ Personality: She is a majestic, almost royal like Whelkon. She walks whith a sence of grace. She is very wise and is not afraid to voice her opinion. She may seem prissy but she`s not afaid to get dirty to help her freinds and family. She is social and is almost never alone. She loves to talk to freinds and just have fun.

▪ Why you want this Whelkon (Few sentences): This would be my first Whelkon. She is a rare beatuy and I would be hournered to shower her in art, stories and love! She would never be left alone for I would be drawing her life out. I hope I have a chance at this rare beauty.

▪ History (About 200 words): Stonecross had a fairly loving, normal family with a mother and father that loved and cherished her, putting her above all else. At the age of 9, she decided it was time to leave home and start a new life for herself. She bid her family fairwell and started on her journey with nothing but the fur on her back and the book at her side. Soon, Stonecross came across another wandering soul named Northstar. The two decided to continue their journey together unti lthey each found their perfect new home. But that promise soon disappeared as a seed of love began to blossom. Stonecross was always too shy to tell him and acted like he was her brother. It surprised her when one day, Northstar confessed his uncontrollable love for her. Stonecross, overjoyed, joyfully accepted to be his mate. They finished their journey in their own small oasis where they found a small herd of other young Whelkons and were ready to join. It was a perfect little home where she began to show her true colors until one day, while out making her rounds through the forest with another female and male, humans attacked their central dens and slaughtered, among others, her mate. Due to her gentle nature, despite the pain and aching loneliness the humans created for her, she forgave them. Although she'll never be the same, she stands by her herd with full loyalty.
▪ Personality (About 200 words): Stonecross is a somewhat tortured soul. She's had to deal with such a hard and dark life yet she always pulls through. On the outside, Stoncross is a cheerful, kind girl who loves to cheer people up. She is quite a nerd and you can always find her with her nose in history or out visiting ancient ruins. Stonecross loves to be alone and is very shy around new people. but, she's never hostile or unwilling to make new friends. Once you get to know her, she can talk your ear off about all sorts of fascinating yet useless facts that she's accumulated over the years. However, when she finally curls up alone for the night, Stonecross is plagued by horrific nightmares about her past. She feels guilt and remorse as well as the pain at the loss of her mate. She made a solemn swear that she will never EVER find another mate and must walk the rest of her life in the shadows of loneliness. Every now and then she gets the chance to see her mate which only plunges her deeper over the brink of depression. Stonecross always has a bad time talking about herself and likes to focus on the feelings and memories of others.

▪ Why you want this Whelkon (Few sentences): I've never had a Whelkon and i thought, 'might as well start with the prettiest one here!' She caught my eye and BAM! instant love! <3 her swirls and eye choices really made her stand out to me and I just thought I'd try my hardest to get her.

Amanti had been raised like most welks had, by her father. Her father showed her the beauty and the splendor of the forest, and all the wonders it held. He was the light, showing her the magic the world. But then came the humans. They took her father away from her. She became lost without him, her beautiful world was collapsing. The home her father had showed her began to disappear. And with it the wonderful memories she had of her father. She was then found by another, and became an adopted daughter to her new father. But he wasn't the same. He wasn't the same father that she loved and missed. Once she was old enough, she went off to find her own home and family, all the while rediscovering the forest, as if her father's spirit was beside her.

Amanti is a calm and kind Welkan. She is soft-spoked and wise. She believes in peace and compromise, but if she has to she will defend her home and those she cares about. When she sets her goals she is determined about completing them. She doesn't have a temper, and she isn't hiding from the world, like some others with her past might. She is friendly and enjoys the company of others, not liking to be on her own for a very long time. She is helpful, and always asks others if they need any help, as she is a little restless and needs to keep herself. She can't stay sill in one place for very long, she always has to moving, even just a little. She isn't afraid to voice her opinions or what she thinks.

When I was browsing through the Adopt Me Welkons,this one definently caught my eye. She is absolutely gorgeous, with that creamy coat. I'm a fan of cream, yellows, golds, palominos, any kind of yellowish colorings, so this one really appeals to me. I've stumbled upon the Welkon thread twice I think, but this is the first time I've thought about adopting one. I absolutely LOVED their background and history, it really spoke to me. So when I saw this beauty, and that she was still up for grabs, I was like Yes! Time to do my best C:
