What does her face remind you of? To me, the blue grey quipping on her face looks like tears staining a normally clean face. The blue eyes could show tears in her eyes to add more to the tears on her face. Naeg's name translates from Sindarin, a form of Tolkien's Elvish to 'Sea of Pain'. Her blue face, to me. looked solemn and sad, pained.
Her face could also be interpreted as a face seeming to crack, falling apart emotionally and physically. The blue grey could be the sadness that has growing inside Naeg for years and finally grew too large for it's bonds.
The fact that the quipping is blue grey also contributes to the first word of her name, Sea. Sea also came from her blue gray hooves that make it look like she is wading in the water. Any way I look at this mare, I see a sad equid that needs a friend.
Oh dear... I got really off topic there, didn't I?
One last thing- this mare is a beauty, great job Birch.
