Name:
Sanguine Vandux Mortem Tenebris, an old Dragon name passed down from his great-great-great-great grandfather. His nickname is Vandux, pronounced Vann-dux
Gender:
Male
Age:
Teenager
Personality:
Vandux, as his name suggests, turns heads whenever he steps into the room. He has a slightly dark personality, but not so much that it actually shows unless he wants it to. He is considered handsome, brave, daring, and talented, a true womanizer. Vandux is a leader, part of the 'popular' crowd. Secretly he longs to find a mate and settle down, but he has to keep up appearances. He wants kids, and hopes to find the girl of his dreams soon.
Story:
Vandux turned his tawny head to face the black she-dragon. He leaned closer, breathing right in her face. "What did you say?" he asked, narrowing his blue eyes.
"Give it a break, Van." she replied, using a paw to bat his muzzle away from her.
"You know it doesn't work on me." she said, laughing.
"Ciara!!" he whined, widening his blue eyes in a look of innocence.
"Why can't once i win?" he asked, chasing after his dark-colored friend. She laughed and sprinted away, Vandux just a few paw-steps behind. Skidding to a halt, he crashed into her and landed in a heap at his father's paws. Untangling himself, he quickly stood up. Ciara took one look at Vandux's father and gulped, backing up before turning her tail and running away.
"See you tomorrow Van!" she called over her shoulder before dissapearing in a puff of dust.
Vandux looked upwards, straight into his fathers eyes, defiance written all over his golden face.
"Well, father? Are you going to say something or are you going to get out of my way?" the young teenage male JBD said, rising to his full height and looking his father in the eyes.
"Yes. I want you to stop seeing that girl, Ciara. She is not the right mate for you." his father replied, narrowing his own blue eyes. His eyes were the only thing Van had in common. Van's mother was the one who had given him his bueatiful pelt, hers had been tawny as well. Van's eyes watered when he thought of his mother, she and his three sisters had died in a fire a few years before while they slept. The only reason Van had survived was because he had been out partying with his friends. Van missed his twin sister, Adrianna, the most. He missed her smiling eyes and the way she laughed. He missed his family. Now all he had left was a terrible father and a broken heart.
Van looked defiantly into his father's eyes, taking a step forward.
"Who are you to say who i am to love? I love Ciara, and i plan to propose to her after we finish school. And then i am going to raise a family, and you will have no say in what i do and do not do. I love her, and i always will." Van said. He saw the flash of claws and staggered backward as fresh blood dripped from his cheek. Surprised, he looked at his father.
"Never speak to me like that again." Van's father growled, cleaning his bloodied claws in the grass before walking away.
Van snarled after him, getting up and walking in the opposite direction, towards Ciara's family's den. He laid in front of the entrance, waiting for Ciara to get home, but she never came. The next morning a patrol found her body, torn and bleeding, outside a cougar den in the canyon below the campsite. Van's father was the one who killed the cougar family. Everyone thought he was grieving for his son's potential mate. Van knew he was the murderer.
Late that night, Van snuck Death-berries into his father's food. He watched while he swallowed bite after bite of the lucid red berries, and he smiled. His father would finally get what he deserved.
The weeks passed. Van stopped pretending to grieve for his father. He grew up, met a few girls, and was happy for a while. Then they left him, saying Van had to much emotional 'baggage' for them to deal with. Van withdrew into a state of depression, just going through the motions. One day, as he laid by the place where Ciara's den used to be, he spotted a dark shape moving towards him through the heat waves.
"Ciara?" he called out hesitantly, wanting so badly for it to be her.
The dark JDB pricked her ears and moved forward again, dragging her injured leg behind her. She collapsed, unable to move any farther. Van rushed towards her, yelling for the medicine dragon. Soon the mysterious girl was bandaged and given food and water. Van sat by her all night, waiting for her to wake. He didn't sleep once. When she awoke, she looked him in the eyes and said:
'Hello, Van."
Fact about JBD:
Vandux is based off of a young male lion.
