Name:
Thyra (thigh-ruh) means "Thor's warrior"

Gender:
female

Personality:
Thyra has a character that matches her rich red and black pelt. She has her moments of fiery intensity, which will occasionally burn out into the embers of a darker mood. She is enjoyable, chatty, but struggles with rules and restrictions. Along with that, she tends to be impatient, ambitious, and tempered with a mouth to match. She may appear to be hard as stone at first with a hard to crack character, but her eyes always have a faint glint of mischeif or play. She fears being judged by others and is constantly trying to keep herself in check. Combined with a powerful imagination, she is constantly sending herself into irrational fears, panic and fretting which she tries to hide with the boistrous and out-going side of her character. She has been wounded deeply in her past, and that still leaves a harsh mark on her emotions which make her slightly touchy about topics of loyalty and friendship.

Story:
"We just can't do that." I whispered in his ear with a small hint of desperation that I hated myself for. I was in another arguement with my brother, Ari. He is constantly like this. I sometimes feel like there is a Pantherbus hiding under his very skin. Obsessing over this stupid crystal that gives us all power, he seems to think that if he is just able to find it, to get to it even that our mother will finally recognize us as kin. I understand how he feels, trying to please her. Forcing her to notice how great and capable he is. I gave up a long time ago. But she just doesn't seem to care about us... she is always quiet. It's almost like she has a strange misty fog over her face that conceals her very emotions. Occasionly I feel like I see a small spark in her eye, but it disappears as quickly as I spot it. It's like she's groping in the deep dark cave of her mind, or a hole that she just can't seem to jump out of. And that crystal. It's like he thinks he needs it to live! I often hear him whispering about it under his breath, like it's talking to him or something.
"But this time, I think I know where it is!" He pleaded desperately with a tone of deep distress in his voice, his deep blue eyes begging me to understand, he was trembling violently with emotion. We had tried finding the great gem before, by just going deeper into our cave, which is where my tiny family lives. We take refuge here from the frigid air that kills on this mountain.
I'm tired of his rambling and to tell you the truth, I'm worried for him. "Even if you did find it, the guards would kill you. We both know that it's against the rules." My tones are quiet, almost soothing. Like i'm talking to a small pup. Even though my pack is small, we still have rules. Infact, I don't even know how a Chimera could even call this a pack. It's tiny, there are only 5 of us including my mother and brother. The leaders are so old that they can hardly function. Not to mention think straight. But I still follow our code, it just seems honorable, and I'm loyal to them to the core.

***

Four days later, Thyra's brother disappears. Her mother continues to dwell in her trance like state, and Thyra's on the brink breakdown. A month passes, and her brothers body is found along with two pantherbus and her mother who is still barely alive. Her mother only has time to say "Your father, the Crystal called him too."

The after math:
Thrya is moved to a neighboring pack and lives their quietly doing the duties of an average member. She still longs to see her brother and is haunted by her mothers last words. She hates the Crystal and lives in fear of it's power, and that she may be drawn to it like the rest of her family.

Three things on chimeras:
Not only did the wolves gain mutations from the discovery of the crystal, but also found that they obtained the amazing power of telekinesis and learned how to manipulate things with their minds.
Their neighbors, the Pantherberus are also their greatest mortal enemy and will do anything to gain the power of the Chimeras' Crystal.
The Chimeras have the amazing beauty of rich colored coats and intelligence, which their ancestors (the wolves) have passed down to them.

Zalania
"What doesn't kill you makes you stronger...."
~Unknown

Tell them who you are, Zalania. Scream it out to the world.

Pup number: N/A
Name: Zalania
Gender: Female
Age: In Chimera years: 3. In human years: around 19-23.
Mental Age {What age she feels she is, in human years}: About 25. She finds herself young, but yet mature. She still isn't perfectly mature herself, so to put her maturity in human ages, it would be 25, 26, and maybe just 27. She still has a long life ahead of her, and a lot more to learn.
Nickname: Zala. Only her friends, family, and Daxius can call her that. Sometimes others call her Lay-Lay. She despises that nickname.
Talents/good things: Her ability to fight very well, her ability to pick out the smallest details, being able to know what's wrong with someone and how to help or hurt them, her intelligence, her beauty, and her stubbornness. She can also run pretty fast, helping her in and out of battle. Her sharp hearing also comes in handy at times.
Flaws:Colorblindness, anger, stress, her inability to hunt, being teased for being colorblind, her thick pelt {sometimes}, being pretty and not being able to know it, her ability to start an argument or fight by accident, and her negative opinion of herself. She is also somewhat clumsy at times.
Likes: Kindness, battle, food, victory, snakes {for food}, running, cool breezes, and Dax*.
She also likes her little cavern she goes and hides in, snow, nighttime, being with Daxius*, music, learning to hunt with Daxius*, proving people she hates wrong, her strength, mountains, running, fighting, battles, eating elk, forests, weather other than snow at times, and Daxius*, again.
* Daxius belongs to Ashwyn. Do not steal him, or Ashwyn and I will eat you.
Dislikes: Arguing, being teased, color, rain, heat, thunder, lightning, storms, anger, sadness, blood, pain, and being alone. She also hates all the pent-up rage inside her. She is also a bit against rumors. She also dislikes not getting enough sleep, agressive males trying to pick a fight with her to prove they're better than her, Chimeras telling her she'll never be anything but a nobody, being woken up early, being humiliated, immaturity, seeing Dax sad, rudeness, heartbreak, death, cliffs, fires, strong winds, and being enraged by somebody else.
What She Looks Like to Herself: She cannot see the colors of her pelt, but she can take a guess by the shades of grey on her fur and say that her main fur color is very dark, meanwhile her markings seem to be a very lightish dark, but she doesn't know how that is possible.
Favorite/Theme Song: Princess of China- Coldplay
No reason why, but it seems to suit her.
And this. Mostly because it sounds like it's Zalania-ish.
Favorite Color: Grey, because it is one of three colors she can see, and the main one. Besides, it's calming and it's the color she's most used to.
Favorite Time of day: Well, since she can't really appreciate the sunset, and she hates getting up early, she loves the night. It gives her a rush of happiness and it's cooler, and easier on her thick pelt.
Favorite Weather: Snow. It's easy on her pelt and isn't uncomfortable.
Dreams: She dreams of being the best fighter known to the Chimeras, and to be able to stand up against a pack of Pantherberus. Speaking of that, she'd adore being leader. Able to lead her pack into battle, and fight for victory. It would also be great to settle arguments and such, and her hidden dream, which she's scared to ask Daxius, would be for them to both be leaders, and rule together. He has the intelligence and calmness she'd never have, and she has great fighting skills and able to realize the solution to problems. She dreams of being able to see color when she falls asleep, although every time she dreams about it she can't seem to grasp what it would look like in her mind, so mostly all it is is a black mist with her declaring the wonders of color, making her sad some nights. She would love to be a great hunter as well as warrior, and she tries all the time, but with her clumsyness getting in the way every time.
A little about her feelings for Daxius:
  • If he ever left her, she would turn malicous and cruel, and miserable. She would despise and mock the one who stole Daxius from her, whether they did or not.
  • When she goes a day without talking to him, she's really grumpy and solitary, a form that's usually not present. Others refer to this as her "Storm cloud-mode" teasingly. Daxius does too, when she's grumpy and antisocial. This annoys her further.
  • She likes to sing when she's with him, it makes her love music more.
  • She can hardly keep secrets from him.
  • Whenever they fight, it's always Zalania who started it, and Daxius usually tries not to join the arguement until she sets him off.
  • She asked Daxius how long he had had a crush on her, and he responded with "The day I met you."

Personality: Zalania is colorblind, defensive, and stubborn, or at least those are the first three things you discover as you get to know her. She loves fighting and the feel of battle, it lets her stress out. She hates being colorblind, she can't say something has bright colors, is pretty, or looks cool, without sounding weird. The others would comment, "How? You can't see what it looks like, don't you remember?" How could she forget? She would then do one of the following things; run away, start an argument, or get embarassed and try to change the subject. She thinks it ties with her having unusual violet eyes, as they all say, and stangely, that's the only color she can see properly, except with the occaisonal black or white.
Her colorblindness has caused many problems in her life. She gets picked on, teased, and more. Some Chimeras even threw colorful things in her face and said "What color is this?" and then laughed before pulling out an insult. She would either knock them down to the ground and give them a scolding, or bite them hard on the shoulder and whip them away from her. She's very violent, and has a lot of stress and rage. She bites her lip and noses her paws as nervous habits and to comfort her, and she loves to fight. Fighting against the Pantherberus with her leading the battle is her dream. She loves to dream of taking down the Pantherberus, and killing things in midwar. She has a lot of rage built up in her and attacks those who make fun of her, but sometimes she is calmer and uses words to hurt their feelings as well.
She has a way to know what's wrong with people, how to comfort them, and how to hit them right in the heart. She can tell what is wrong with someone's life, what it is like, and how they feel. She can pick up the smallest of details, maybe it's because it makes up for her lack of ability to see color, maybe it's just a talent and her being very observant.
Either way, she loves it because she can help and hurt people, which gives her an advantage in her life.
Her mate is Daxius, he is the only one who understands her and doesn't think she's blind or stupid because she can't see as well as others. He actually understands she's the same as everyone else, and he loves her for who she is. She, at first, couldn't care less about him, but the very day she truely met him, she learned to love him. He's her best friend and more, and they both understand that everyone has differences, no matter how small or big.
For the few friends she has, Zala is happy she has them. They're dependable, loyal, and friendly. Of course, they could never replace her parents, but they are as close as she can get to family.
With secrets, she would keep them until she got to the point where she had to tell someone. Meaning, she would keep a secret for a friend, of course, unless it was something dangerous to keep, like a murder. She isn't the kind to blurt out secrets, and she does a good job of never telling them.
If someone acts immature, she's sure to get annoyed. Immaturity. She hates it. Especially if someone starts acting immature to her. She doesn't hate pups, she thinks they're cute and all, but she wouldn't want any for now, considering they make her feel awkward. Somehow she's always able to get herself out of pupsitting for someone.
However, she loves Daxius enough that if he really wanted pups, she would give in and have to get used to their annoying selves, but a part of her believes she would love them, and it would bring even more joy to her life.
She's impatient, pessimistic, and easily annoyed as well. Waiting for things is certainly not her talent. She usually tends to just walk away if she has to wait for something longer than a few minutes. She tends to always see the negative side of something rather than the brighter side, and when she's grumpy she complains about it as well. She gets annoyed when people start whining, acting annoying, self-pitying, miserable, or immature. She hates it when people whine, if they're fully aged. Hates it.
Though she herself might not admit some of this section.

Her hearing is sharp to make up for her dull and grey vision. Her sharp hearing makes her an even better fighter, because she can hear enemies trying to catch her from behind. Her sharp hearing also helps her try to hunt, and she is learning from Daxius. She can hear better than most Chimeras, so her hearing can help her detect what people are talking about a few feet away, even if they are faintly whispering. She never really tells anyone about that part, she keeps it her secret so she can use it whenever she wants without people catching her.
She adores music of any kind, her ears seem to feel "good" when music is around. It's awfully hard to make music in the mountains, so whenever she hears even the faintest bit of a melody, she soaks it in and does not take it for granted. She loves the forest, because the birdsong there is beautiful and perfectly harmonic. Except when hawks are flying by. She hates hawks. They are pup-eaters, and if she ever wants pups, all hawks must stay away. She is very defensive of Daxius and any possible pups they could have together.
She is actually quite sensitive at times, though it never is noticeable to anyone but her. She could be called a freak, a cruel murderer, or a jerk, and she would just tell them to go away, but on the inside she would be truely hurt. She never really lets anyone know she's offended, you'd have to really hurt her feelings to make her show you she's sad. Often, she goes in a cavern and hides when she's feeling depressed, and has a nasty attitude to anyone who follows her in there. She wnats to be left alone then, and would not advise anyone to try to speak to her when she's in there. She spent a lot of time in there whenever she was bullied, and when her parents died. She almost starved herself when her father died, and she spent a few days alone in there when her mother died, as she always thought of her father as her favorite parent.

Story: Daxius
Even the most terrible of things can turn out golden. It just takes a miracle.

It was a day, that was terrible and wonderful at the same time, that cold, stormy day. Zalania would never forget it, and never did she want to. She looked at the rain, and stared at a puddle on the ground, that reflected her face. It was raining on the day she was remembering too...
She was hunting a large, proud-looking buck. She doubted she could catch it, but she desired to find a talent in hunting. Maybe being great in battles and hunting would increase her chances of being a great leader one day. She knew every Chimera and their siblings wanted to be a leader, one that was remembered forevermore, but she wouldn't let that crush her dreams. She seized the moment when the buck, powerful and muscular, looked away and let his guard down, that one second, and leaped. She made a gash in it's left front leg, but it dashed away. Oh no you won't, ever! She thought and raced after it. Letting out a war cry, she bit hard into it's shoulder, and it flung her off. No, She thought desperately, watching the buck, and her dreams, race away as fast as a breeze in the pouring cold rain. No!
She tried to follow it, but it was too far away. She snarled at herself and kicked and dug ferociously at the ground, creating a small hole. Eventually she gave up with eliminating her rage and walked back home, but then she heard those evil voices that threatened to make her go insane every day. The two idiot males who thought, along with being colorblind, she was deaf and blind by making fun of her without seeming to know she could see and hear them do that. Eventually she would show them she could hear and see what they were doing and saying and attack them, but she tried to not let them get the best of her. "Hey squirrel-brain, I bet you lost that buck because you can't see! Duh!" The first one cried out.
"Why do you even try? It's like you think you're going to be able to see and hunt like us one day. You'll never learn." The other taunted, and pushed her down to the ground. That was the final straw for Zalania.
"Well, it's real crying shame I'll never be like you, huh? You have no friends except him, and you know you can't hunt to save your life. And I will learn, but not from you. Especially when you think I'm blind. I'm color blind. Get your facts right, idiot." She said, and got up and wacked him in the muzzle. "Now go home before it floods up to your paws and you drown, shorties." She sneered as they ran away after that comment. It was rare when she could get their feelings hurt like that, usually they had decent comebacks to get her to chase them. She felt rather hurt anyway, she had to admit it, those two had done some damage to her feelings. Maybe I'll never be a hunter or a leader, I'll just be an angry, colorblind idiot who's overviolent and insecure forever. She thought. She didn't really want to believe that what they said was true, but what if it was? She let the rain make her fur droop down, and she tripped over slippery surfaces until she was completely soaked and sad. She reflected exactly how she felt, with sopping wet drooping fur, miserable eyes, mud on her pelt, and tired looking legs. After wandering the forest for somewhere to wait out the storm, she finally found a sutable shelter, a small patch of trees, and hid under one. The rain didn't stop noticeably, but the tree's shelter was good enough. She saw another male walking through the forest and crinkled her nose with a snarl. Daxius. She thought. She hadn't really met him, but from what she knew, he was intelligent, friendly, and desired to be a leader. Somewhat like her. I have a rival was her first thought when she heard of him from one of his friends telling someone about him, and she wanted to be better than him. She couldn't really hate him, though- he had nothing against her and had never given her a reason to think that he was bad. He had helped her up when she fell after running twice, and this one time he broke up a bloody fight between her and another Chimera, who had unluckily not made it through last winter. She felt bad for the poor male, even though she really didn't like him. But Daxius was sadder when he died, he must have known him before. But Daxius had also once said that he liked Chimeras with grey eyes to someone else, and she thought that he had been attempting to talk to her once. She was trying to hunt something, like before, and he had interrupted her, scaring the weasel she was stalking away. She was mad at him, though she hated weasels, and he apologized. As she walked back to her home, he had asked her what her favorite color was. She glared at him and then he remembered she was colorblind and apologized again. He tried to start a conversation again as he followed her by saying that it looked like it was getting dark, and she finally told him to stop stalking her so she could get home before it got dark. He had sighed and walked away, leaving her wondering what his problem was. She was jolted back to reality by the sound of his voice. "Is that you, Zalania? What are you doing in the rain?" She covered her body with the shelter of a tree's gigantic trunk, and tried to ignore him, as he was now telepathically trying to speak to her rather than vocally. Finally, she gave up. "What in the world do you want!?" She yelled over the rain and cracking thunder. "Something's wrong, isn't it, Zalania?" He asked. "Why do you care? Go be better than me and a great leader, hunter and fighter. Go right ahead. I don't care. I don't matter to anyone. And I definately don't trust you." She responded, and then realized she had just told him all her problems. Since when do I tell everyone my problems? I've got to keep my mouth in check. She thought, reminding herself to be careful about telling things to her rival.
Daxius sat next to her, which made her uncomfortable, but appearently not him. "No. That's not true. You're pretty, intelligent, strong, and just because you can't hunt, doesn't mean I can't teach you. You've got to show me some of your battle moves, too. And besides, you matter to me." He darted his eyes away from hers immediately, and said rather quickly, "Er, I mean, you don't have to trust me." And he looked away from her. "Daxius, are you just trying to befriend me and then stab me in the back?" She said, but immediately regretted it. She could tell Daxius was offended, but she was suspicous. She could tell that he wanted to befriend her, but for all she knew, he could just be good at pretending and was really going to backstab her. "First of all, call me Dax. And second of all, well, the way you showed those two jerks back there that they couldn't hurt you, I never could have done that. Never. Even though they say that I'm truely great at fighting and hunting, I can't defend myself like that. You're better than what you think of yourself. Maybe I'm not as talented as you." He said, and that's when Zalania noticed he really cared about her. His coat was hard for him to blend in, and he likely had secrets of his own, so he wasn't as perfect as she has always believed him to be. "Dax, what do you think about the crystal?" She asked, she herself ironically trying to make conversation now. "I hate it. I hate it and all this conflict it's brought us. What do you think about it?" He asked, smiling.
With that, they spent a good two or more hours waiting for the rain to stop in their tree trunk shelter, telling each other their secrets, likes, and dislikes. The rain could create a giant torando for all she cared, she was happy for the first time today. Daxius, or Dax, had made her day so much better. She nosed his face, and he blushed. "Zalania, I-"
"First of all, call me Zala. Second of all, I know, moron." She said, and laughed. The rain stopped and neither wanted to go the other way back home, so Zalania asked, "Why don't you come back home with me? Who knows what creatures are going to chase you around if you go alone in this small rainfall? It's murky and dark out here."
"I love rain, actually." He said, but agreed happily. "Besides, someone needs to watch my back when my fur doesn't camouflage. And I'd rather it be you than anyone else."
With you, my love.

Story #2: The Race
If you get cocky, you're more likely to fail. Stay confident, but not too confident.

"I'll catch you now~!" Zalania hollered, paws pounding against the ground. The thudding vibrated in her head, and she leapt over a crack. "Not yet you won't!" He hollered back. He was just someone she knew, really- he was asking for a race, and she accepted the challenge and chose the place. Of course it was dangerous to be racing on a slippery mountain cliff, but nothing like a little thrill to excite her. She was young, but her and her opponent, as she thought of him- where the same age. She almost slid on a rock, and her heart thudded harder. Got to keep going, She thought. Can't let him win. She darted around a corner and raced faster, catching up to him and never slowing her pace. Him referred to the male Chimera, who she was ready to leap over, and she did. "Catch ya later!" SHe howled and sailed over him. She panted, breathinghard, as they had been racing for a good fifteen minutes. Sweat dripped down her forehead. She was sweaty but confident. Racing against the wind, sweating in the cool autumn night. She loved it, except for the occaisonal times when she thought she would slip. But, as the many Chimeras before her had gotten used to and used frequently, her paws, specially built for this type of terrain, caught her beofre she fell each time. The path grew so narrow that one had to jump over the other to be ahead of them, which was a diffcult task to do over and over. Eventually it thickened and they were able to race properly, but it became slippery. Zalania dared the male to stop, and he gave her a look that said, Go ahead. You can stop at any time. And let me win.
And let me win. The words thudded in her mind, and she propelled herself. The wind was against them, the cliff was slippery, jagged, narrow, and had cracks slicing apart the cliff after years of weathering and paws pounding against it. She licked her drying lips and grunted as she struggled to remain in the lead, and panted hard. She was glad to see she wasn't the only one, as the male was gasping for air as well, despite the fact it was whooshing against his face. He narrowed his eyes at her still, showing her he was just as determined to win as her. He starting running quickly, fighting against the wind and other elements that wanted him to stop running, and his paw slipped on an edge. No! She thought, reaching out to grasp his scruff of his neck as he fell. He twisted slightly before she did, however- a fatal mistake. She missed him and he fall down to the chasm below, holwing with fear. She tried to find any way to help him, and whimpered with fear. "I'm sorry! Find a soft spot on the ground! Live! Please! Don't die! I'm sorry! This is my fault!" She said, but her last words were drowned out by his howling until he fell to the ground with a painful, hollow echo. "Noo! Please be alive, please be alive!" She begged, but she knew the truth. She sat down near a rock and cried mournfully. "I killed a Chimera. Of all the terrible things I could do, I sent an innocent male to a race here on this treacherous cliff and he died. My fault. All my fault." She murmured, looking down towards the dark chasm to see if she could find any sign of him. She wished he could howl I'm alive! I made it! I'm okay! And comfort her. She knew she was in deep trouble, not with anyone, but herself. She would know this was her fault for the rest of her life, and she would never get over it. Never.
As she turned away from him to go back to the mountain, and tell them about how horrible this was, just like how horrible she was, and she would never see him again....
Unless. Unless he made it. She shook away the thought, knowing it was impossible. She turned away, feeling sorrowful. She turned a competition into a death...

Story #3: Victory
Try your best, or don't even try at all. You'll die if you don't, anyway.

Just like a timid rabbit, Zalania felt scared. Her parents had encouraged this, welcomed it, but worried for her safety dearly. A real battle. Her first. With the... Pantherberus.
She didn't feel ready. No, she didn't feel like she could do it at all. Standing on that edge with the sun beating down on their backs, thoughts of what could happen to her nagged her and seemed to haunt her throughout the three minutes they were told to wait before fighting. But when the nervous looking Chimeras shuddered, she kept her head held high, chest puffed out, and a confident face on. Not too confident, with a hint of fear that she wished she could erase. But her scent was filled with the clinging smell of anxiety and fear, and it was something that she could not cover up with courage. She bit her lip nervously, and made sure her tail wasn't hanging down. As the command for battle was issued, she looked to one of her friends, who looked shyly back at her. Zalania stalked through the mountain with the rest of the group, looking for the exact spot they were told the Pantherberus were going to try to take over. Of course, near the crystal. She dashed downward with the others, making sure she fell gracefully and quickly so she didn't break a joint. With a lone howl breaking the silence, a battle exploded into existence. A male Pantherberus yowled at the sky and clawed at a few, and then leapt at another and tried to kill them until backup came and threw him away. Zalania's heart raced, fear ringing throughout the battle. She bit into the shoulder of a Pantherberus hard, until she was flung off. She snarled and jumped over it before it clawed her, missing her stomach by a hair. She raced into the mountain accidentally, making her head ring. She remembered what her father had said to her about this kind of thing: "Don't gain any weaknesses in battle. It's just another thing your opponent, or foe, can use against you. And NEVER run into a cave or cavern. They will ambush you faster than you can say "I surrender."" She heard the voices in her head screaming Go! Move!! And she did without hesitating. It was a good thing she did, or the Pantherberus racing after her would have slashed her in the side. She dove under him and bit his leg. He howled and clawed at her side, getting her left foreleg and part of her side. Pain seared her skin and the ringing in her head began again. She panicked and swiped at the first thing that attacked her. She heard a roar. Good. Eventually her vision came back from the pain taking over, and she saw a claw coming towards her neck. She yelped and dodged it, but it slightly scraped her back, leaving a tiny wound. She panted with fear and pain, and leapt towards the one Pantherberus that had been attacking her all along. He swiped at her paws desperately. She howled with pain and fury and bit him hard on the neck. It was hard to tell whether he was dead or unconscious, but either way, he was down for now. Another Pantherberus yowled, raced across from one side of the mountain, and headed toward the place where the crystal was hidden. Even though there was a labyrinth-like maze where the crystal was, Pantherberus were smart. It could just find it, and kill the guards. She raced toward it anxiously, and jumped onto it's back, digging her claws and fangs into its back to hang on as it struggled to fling her off. She howled and made enough commotion to attract the guards to the spot. One of them attacked the nasty Pantherberus, swiping at its legs to confuse it and then biting down on its nose. Zalania jumped off the enemy and helped by snarling and biting at the Pantherberus until it was cornered, leaving the guards to handle it as she looked around for anyone who needed help. She heard a yelp and darted toward the sound. She recongnized it as her shy friend. She helped her, trapped in a corner, by biting the scrawny Pantherberus who was hurting her friend on its ear to startle it at first, and then lunged for its throat as it swiped malicously at her stomach. It had enough pain to almost break the skin deeply, but it left a thin scratch that showed it hadn't gone to deep. She looked at the Pantherberus, now dead and laying limply on the ground, and snarled at it. She told her friend to go on before more caught up, and the two separated and fled in two different directions. She looked at her surroundings once more, exhausted from the battle. She thought she'd be more prepared for this. She saw several Pantherberus go down, by the other Chimeras in the fight. She couldn't keep fighting, but she saw her one rival form an attack group somewhat skillfully and take down another Pantherberus. Daxius. She felt the need to fight more, so she made sure her other friends were okay and bit the enemy on the shoulder, the one Daxius was having trouble taking down. The Pantherberus roared and fell, unconcious for now. Daxius looked suprised, but before he could say anything he heard a yelp and took off toward the sound. Zalania made sure the Pantherberus was down until she suddenly felt drowsiness try to overtake her. Pain raged inside herself, and fear felt like it was eating her alive. She couldn't keep fighting, so she laid down on the ground, and let herself fall into that dark abyss feeling....
She blinked her eyes open. Dust covered the landscape, and scarlet blood was everywhere. She saw Chimeras grinning, howling with victorious melodies. They won. And she had helped. Sadly, Daxius was gloating as well, but everyone was congratulated. Those who had helped. Only seven had died, but none of them she knew. but it was a small loss for the many thousands who had fought. Victory. And it was her first battle. But her legs still felt shaky, and she couldn't think clearly. Her friends helped her up, but by the time she realized who they were she was fast asleep, floating through a cloud of drowsiness in her mind.
But she dreamed of victory. And more battles. Battles she would fight.... And gain victory. Victory.

Story #4: Memories and Guidance
There are always bumps and hills in your life. You always get through them, no matter how hard.

It was a bright morning day, but with a bitter cold snap to it that annoyed the young female Chimera Zalania. "Zala! Why are you groaning? It's just a slight chill! You're the one with the thicker fur, after all." Her mother complained. Zalania groaned and finally got up. Yes, she did have thicker fur for now, but only because her mother tried to shed her fur early in the fall because she felt overheated. How could you feel overheated in the cold, blizzarding mountains? Zalania grumbled and got up anyway, stretching her legs and whimpering with exhaustion. She felt hungry, and she hadn't been sleeping well since her mother got an infection. She curled her lips and snarled at her mother. "Well, mother, I don't suppose you could get up too and stop snoring?" She growled. Her mother narrowed her eyes and complained, "You know I can't help being sick, little Zala. That Pantherberus was coming right at me. I know you weren't there, but it was. A big, sharp clawed and fanged Pantherberus, ready to bite and kill. I can't help having a wound from it. At least I drove it away." Little Zala. Her mother's nickname for her. She didn't mind it when she was truely little, but now it just seemed embarassing. "And you should find a mate soon, darling. I know you don't want to, but how can you function as a Chimera if you don't raise a family?" Her mother questioned.
"I see perfectly well how I can function without a mate. I mean, how could I have lived this far? I don't have a mate, and never will." She said. She was getting rather annoyed talking to her mother in their little cave, as she sifted through old rotten prey for a fresh piece. Her mother was being such a mess. She couldn't wait for her flu/infection/illness to go away. The infection wasn't that bad, not even very deep. She was perfectly healthy, but while recovering, she had to admit to herself guiltily, she wasn't exactly the brightest Chimera in the batch. Eventually, after some searching, Zalania found an elk leg that was halfway fresh and eat the remaining meat off. Her father would be returning soon with food, and she would greet him happily. Her mother was annoying her. "Zala, could you please stop wasting food? We've got enough rotten meat sitting in that rat's nest of a pile. Please, darling, don't be a slob." Her mother complained.
Father, please be coming home soon or I swear something's gonna die. She thought with a growl.
A few hours later, her father returned with a weasel, three fish, and a skinny snake. That snake must of been lost in the snow, but it looked like it had a good flavor. She sniffed it eagerly and greeted her father. Chewing on the dry, frozen snake, she savored every bite and asked her father if he could pick up and frozen snakes he finds out hunting. "Zalania, of course I can. If I see any." He replied, coughing. Zalania had been noticing lately that her mother and father were growing grey hairs just under their chins, but they both said it was nothing. But Zalania was supicious. She sighed as she noticed they had gotten greyer, and longer. She made a mental note to look out for any signs that her parents were growing older.
Four weeks later, the snow had grown less and less, and it was easier to go outside without feeling as cold as ice. Her mother was better, but didn't seem to notice why her daughter had such a temper with her lately. Zalania eventually told her, and her mother apologized for any way she had been acting while she was ill. Zalania had been practicing fighting, a skill she longed to master. Her father helped her swipe, duck, leap up and bite again, but Zalania would get dizzy and fall. Her mother eventually pitched in to help her daughter, swiping and leaping herself. The days went by fast, but they were worth it each day when she learned to master a new skill. She could practice fight with her parents, and she tried to hunt, but almost got stomped on by a female elk and gave up. But one day, she learned why her father was coughing and sneezing. He was getting ill, and all that running and fighting hadn't helped. Worried for her father, Zalania promised to help him heal. Her father, being stubborn, declined. "I can help myself, Zala, it's just a tiny fever. I'll be fine, you worry to much, my little sunshine ray." He said, aiming to wave away any fears. But it didn't help. Her father was her favorite parent. She loved them both equally, but her father had always had a special place in her heart. Her mother tried to comfort her, too, but Zalania begged and pleaded to go out and hunt. She knew she couldn't, but that didn't matter. She could at least try. "No, Zalania, it's fine. I can hunt and get food. Your father will be fine." Her mother said, but little belief of it was in her eyes.
Another snowstorm came in such an untimely part of her life, making her father weaker. He had decreased in weight, coughed more, and it was harder for him to get up. Her mother forbade him from going out of the cave, but he still did to try to help Zalania feel better. But it was not Zalania who needed help, it was her father. He was being stubborn, so the next time he tried to go outside just because he wanted to she stood right in front of him, blocking him protectively. "You can't go out." She insisted, snarling at him for being so stubborn. He was getting worse, and it was his own fault! "But the snow has melted, and it's nice out. Come on. I can help you hunt. You need to be more silent and less still. I can help you improve that. Please move." He said, sounding tired and confused. What in the name of Kheseus is wrong with him? He doesn't know what he's talking about. Sure, the snow has melted, but that doesn't mean he's perfectly healthy yet. Zalania thought. She shook her head fiercely. "You cannot go out. You don't know what you're talking about." She said, pressing harder against him in case his weak body wanted to push her away.
"Zalania, move. Now. I'm your father, and I will teach you to hunt if I want to. It's going to rain soon, so we better... make the best of... today." He said, sounding like he was going to faint. The effort of trying to move her away was making him weaker. Zalania started to panic. What if he did faint? It would be all her fault. Taking advantage over his weakness, she laid him down in the cave and kept him there. "You are NOT going outside! It's not going to make anything better! Don't even think it! You can barely get up!" She demanded, almost howling at him. He sighed and curled up on the cave floor, closing his eyes. "I suppose it's for the best," He said drowsily. He feel asleep not too long after, making Zalania wonder why he was acting so strange. She sighed miserably and curled up next to her father, not caring whether he would pass on his disease to her or not. She laid her chin on his back and laid against him fiercely, as though she could protect him from any nightmares he could have.
The next morning, her mother returned with a large buck. Giving her dinner to her father, she tried not to feel hungry. But her father brushed away most of the food, eating what remained. Zalania sighed. Her mother, noticing her daughter's distress, gave Zalania her food back, saying it was okay for her to eat without feeling greedy. Zalania did not have much appetite, but she forced herself to eat the whole thing anyway. her father probably wanted her to stay strong while he couldn't. She faked a smile like everything was okay, but in her head, a forest fire of emotion welled up inside her. Her mother licked her daughter's head, assuring her that everything would be okay. But is it really? Is Father going to be okay? She said to her mother telepathically. Her father didn't seem to notice, as if the sickness was blocking the powers of the crystal from reaching him. I sure hope so. But I'm pretty sure he'll be fine. Her mother said, nuzzling her daughter. "I feel better, but I don't know if you two care." Her father hissed, venom in his voice. Her father looked shaky, but his muscles were still as powerful-looking as they were before, and he still had a gleam of determination in his grey eyes.
"Of course we care, darling. Why do you think we wouldn't?" Her mother asked, shocked to hear her father speak like that. Whatever happened to his trusting, gentle, and confident-sounding voice? "I just get the feeling you care more about your daughter than your mate." He said, glaring at her in a mournful way. "But.... why would you say that? You're my mate! I thought you trusted me?" She said, truely shocked. Her father almost stumbled, his eyes dull looking. "I'm sorry. I don't know what's wrong with me. I just... what's happening? I don't doubt you, my love, I just feel weird. Like the world is all foggy and made of clouds." He said, true confusion in his once powerful voice. He seemed like a shell of his former self. Confused, sick, and miserable. "Father, are you okay?" She asked, a whimper in her voice. "No, I'm not. I don't know why I feel so strange. Do I have a cold or something? Please don't get worried, I'm sure I'll get better. I just feel wierd now. And sick. And hungry." He said, and ate the remains of their prey. Zalania half smiled. Her father always loved to eat, and his stubbornness was back. perhaps he would get better. WIP

Her own quotes:
I don't care if you hate me. I find it funny you think I do.

Just because I said it, doesn't mean that I meant it...

Daxius, how could anyone hate you? Why is it so impossible to hate you?

You are like a poison, Daxius. And that's not bad in my definition.

If you ever left me, it would feel as if all the stars in the sky were gone...

Don't attack until you see the whites of their eyes.

They say there is fire in my heart. If that is true, then, Daxius, you make me burn up all the forests of the world. You melt my heart.

In battle, never panic. Keep your cool until you realize you made a dumb mistake. Then panic.

Daxius, you're more handsome then you give yourself credit for. You turn heads when you speak. You're elegant and gentle when you hunt. Your eyes are like the stars. Don't smile at the ground like you're not aware of that. I can't even see what your fur color looks like, but you're still handsome.

If lies could kill, I'd be a murderer.

Favorite food: Snakes, and the occaisonal buck. Fish are okay, but she hates weasels. They're fast, annoying, furry, and loud.

Other Facts:
  • She hates being called beautiful, because she finds Daxius, despite the fact she can't tell what color his pelt is, looks better than her.
  • Her favorite plants are cactus and turnips, not to eat. But just because she likes them.
  • She hates swimming in any water because her pelt weighs her down.
  • She doesn't trust anyone who bites their siblings.
  • She loves sparrows.
  • She wishes in her heart that the Pantherberus and the Chimeras could come together, so she could learn their battle moves.
  • No matter how much Daxius tells her he won't, she always has this fear that Daxius will leave her one day.
  • She hates being called pathetic, miserable, self-pitying, or whiny, and will prove she's not to those who say that.
  • The reason she likes snakes is because her father loved them, and he forced her to try one, but her mother was repulsed by them.
  • She finds learning how to hunt with Daxius releves her stress better than fighting.
  • She doesn't like to eat rodents because they look too furry, and loud when you're trying to hunt them. They taste terrible to her anyway.
  • She noses her paws when afraid and rubs her nose on them because her mother used to do that to comfort her. She bites her lip to get rid of anxiety.
  • She has a fear of people racing on cliffs, and tries to get the leader to ban racing on slippery and craggy cliffs.
  • She is slightly jealous of Daxius, because he seems to have a better life than her.
  • To releve stress before battle, she also scratches her claws on the ground.
  • This is a secret of hers, but she thinks her being jealous of Dax since a long time ago means she has always had a crush on him, but she would never admit it.
  • She has a tiny fear of falling trees.
  • If she sees glowing things in the dark, she is more likely to go toward the light than run away from the unknown-ness of it.
  • When she was learning how to fight well, her mentor somewhat resembled her grandfather. However, it was not.
  • She is afraid of getting older, because it seems like all the excitement of life goes away.
  • She has more secrets than she has claws, or so she tells others.
  • Her ears help her hear many different high-pitched noises, as the rumor says. Zalania herself cannot hear any different than anyone else, she just has extra sharp hearing to make up for her colorblindness. Her hearing is not as sharp as others believe, but she lets them believe it, so she seems powerful.
  • She worries that if she ever were to become leader, she would not make a good one. So she says Daxius can take that spot for himself, but Daxius always replies with a "But I have you instead."
  • She is naturally adapted to the mountains, as is every Chimera, but her paws are not as tough as some. They are slowly growing stronger as she grows, but slower than many others.
  • With the many things Zalania has that are different from others, she wonders why she is so different, and if it was her genetics or the way she was born or her parents that made her colorblind.
  • She used to worry that her parents would die when they went to battle, so once as a pup she followed some others near the war and learned a lot of her father's battle tricks and moves early, though she was scolded somewhat harshly for that adventure by her mother.
  • In reality, it was her father who thought of the name Zalania, and her mother had always had a hidden fondness to it, so they agreed to name their pup Zalania.
  • Zalania doesn't really want to see color like other Chimeras, because she thinks it would be painful to her colorblind-adjusted eyes, even if there were some way to cure it.
  • Rumors have spread that the crystal, when touched, can heal your every defect and wound, so Zala suspects she could heal her colorblindness with it, but because of how forbidden it is to even see the crystal, and how hard the punishments were if you did, that she never plans to touch the crystal. Ever.
  • She was rather shy and timid as a pup, but playful and mischeivous nevertheless.
  • Her father was a Chimera of many sayings. She quotes his sayings in her head as life guidance, just as he probably wanted her to do.

History:
Look on the bright side, Zalania. You had a beautiful life. You still do. Make your father proud.

As a pup, nobody would have guessed that she was colorblind. She was playful and sweet, until she grew taller. She was a little more mischeivous, and rougher. Eventually her parents began to wonder why she never commented on her parents' beautiful pelts, or on some flowers that grew on the west side of their home on the mountain. She used to look over the forest far away from those flowers, that distant forest, and would playfight with the other pups and pretend that the winner "owned" the forest. One day her mother, concerned about Zalania's eyesight, took her out to the meadow, out further from the mountain in which the Chimeras lived, and asked her which flower was her favorite. Zalania said she could not tell, but from the way her parents talked about them they must be beautiful. This startled her mother, who asked Zalania what her favorite color was. "I dunno, what colors are there?" She said. Her mother was stressing her out, she could almost feel the tension and anxiety festering like a wound in her mother's heart. "Zalania, what do you see on the flowers?" She asked nervously, worrying about the answer. Zalania was not sure what to answer, in fear that her mother would cry. "Umm, a milky color, but sometimes I see a really bright and really dark color that looks like a lighter and darker version of them?" Zalania said. "Zalania, that's grey, I believe. And I think you're also seeing black and white." Her mother said, resting her muzzle worriedly on Zalania's head. "My daughter, I'm sorry, but I think you're colorblind."
"I'm what?" She said, unsure of what her mother was saying. "I mean you can't see color correctly, the only colors you can see are grey, black, and white. There's nothing wrong with you, you were just born like that, I guess." Her mother answered, starting to cry.
Her daughter was confused but worried. She had always seen like this, did everyone else not? What was she missing? What did things look like? Wasn't everything "grey"? Her ears flopped down, and she miserably walked back home. The sky was grey, the grass was grey, and her parents were grey. It broke her heart that she would never be able to see her parents, or anyone else, for that matter, correctly.
But in time she learned it didn't make as much of a difference compared to other ways she could be different, she only couldn't see color. But sometimes she would wonder why she couldn't be normal like everyone else, and wondered what color was like. Was it good? Was it bad? Was it normal? Unlike her? She tired not to think about it, but the thought kept nagging her.
A few months after that, she started to love fighting. The stress of being bullied and not able to be normal made her have tons of strength she could use to her advantage, and her ability to pick up the smallest of details made her able to tell what move the opponent was planning to do next. She could defeat most, and the ones she couldn't she soon learned how to, from their strategy. She was one of the best fighters in the mountain, second only to Daxius and a few skilled others she either hadn't challenged or had been defeated by many times. She took pride in her ability to fight, and practiced almost every day. It was one of the few things she was good at, and it helped her to easily defend herself. She knew that the Chimeras that liked to tease her wouldn't mess with her as much now in the mountain, but few were afraid of her.
A year later, she took interest in trying to be a leader someday. She had the strength, the courage, and the skill. She practiced with her mother, who was growing ill, in good leadership skills and how to settle things other than fighting. She did not excel well in the second, so she gave up trying and just pursued being leader as a dream. She tried to hunt, but she was too clumsy and too slow. Eventually she learned how to run fast and long by racing with other Chimeras, until she mastered the skill. She loved a good midnight run, with the breeze in her fur. her long legs enabled her to run for a few minutes full speed before tiring.
One day a rogue Pantherberus attacked a group of Chimeras on a warm, damp evening, and two Chimeras died. Zalania was proud that she was in the fight and prevented more lives being lost, but she got a nasty wound on her back leg which stayed there for a month as a reminder of the battle before going away. She had been in seven other battles between the Chimeras and the Pantherberus before and they won all seven. Zalania still remembers them to this day, and sometimes she talks about those battles with her few friends, remembering the wounds they got and the victory they won.
One time she was climbing up a steep cliff, racing another Chimera, when the other slipped and fell to their death. She was shocked by this, and never made the mistake of racing around recklessly on cliffs again. She also values how great life is, and doesn't take it for granted, because any other day she could be dead or killed, and she tries to make the most of her life, though she feels as if she isn't enjoying it enough. However, she is still haunted by how the Chimera died and feels as if it is her fault, but she cannot tell anyone without feeling guilty and wondering if anyone would think she was a murderer. Inside, however, she knows she is overreacting and feels terrible for the incident, especially after she saw how shocked the parents were.
Two months later her father died in the winter of a strong sickness, as he was weak and unable to fight it off. She promised to him that she would have a good life and make him proud of her, and she still has that promise in her heart, and she vows to keep her word. Before he died, he spent his last few hours giving her advice and comfort, and he regretted nothing while raising her. He said he was glad she was colorblind, he was glad he didn't have a pup that was the same. The same as everyone else. He said he was glad he had a beautiful pup that could get past and solver her own problems, who could take care of herself and overcome her differences. He also said she would make a strong leader, and she should try to chase her dreams, no matter the obstacles. He was strong, and he had tried to teach her to hunt once or twice, but they had drifted apart as she grew. Then she realized that all along, though she would never admit it, that her father was her favorite parent.
Her mother wasn't as old, but still, her chin hairs were growing greyer every day. Her mother promised to take care of Zalania, and she made sure her daughter was okay, and comforted her when she was hurt until she died six months later. She had two gifts left from her parents; one was a small necklace with one of her baby fangs that had fallen out as a pup tied to it, and the other was a stone with her father's claw scratches on it, and it helped her to remember the times they helped her, and when she used to playfight with them as a pup.
Before she met Daxius, she had no interest in love. She tried to keep herself from getting close to anyone, to prevent herself from falling in love.
Zalania, like most Chimeras, has had a hard and difficult life, but an interesting one as well. Luckily she has Daxius to care about her, and she has a few friends. So, overall, Zalania's life was destined to never be boring.

Art:
Three things about Chimeras:
  • They can use telepathy, and speak to other Chimeras with their mind. They can also manipulate items with their mind.
  • They have special powers from a meteor that crashed into their mountain years ago, giving them telepathy and other things from it's powerful crystal inside it.
  • Their enemies are the Pantherberus, and the Pantherberus are after their crystal. The Chimeras protect the crystal with their lives.
  • They hide their crystal somewhere safe, deep within a mountain in a labyrinth. Only the highest ranking Chimeras are allowed near the crystal.
  • Male Chimeras have straighter horns than females.
  • They have slightly longer canine teeth than other wolves.
  • They eat prey in the valleys and mountains in which they live.
  • They are carnivores.
  • Kheseus is their leader.
  • They have thick fur to protect them from the frigid mountain temperatures.
Zalania's Father wrote:Never forget how wonderful you are, my daughter.
And don't give up during the tough times. Keep going on, it will all get better soon.
I'll miss you...

Could you possibly extend the end date a bit? I'm really scrambling to find enough art on time.
Thanks. ^^

Hum, it depends.
I wanted to end all the single adoptions on a certain day so when the new litter comes out (Arbatel x Haeseus) they will be the only ones for adoption. I'll see when Lilian and Pudding plan on posting the litter. ^^

Okay ^^
So, when the litter ends, do the single adoptions come back up again? My form prevents me from entering a litter because her father dies and that would be awkward in a litter xD
But thanks anyway.
