Splatter is an APHA Stallion who was used as a farm horse for many years. The owner, no longer being able to care for this sweet soul, abandoned him in a valley hoping he would survive on his own. Concerned farm owners in the area called in about a sick, skinny horse who seemed to be missing clumps of hair. When he was found he walked up and nudged his rescuer. most of his hair was missing, he was 500lbs underweight and had a severe cold. A few weeks after rescue, and a couple weeks on antibiotics, the cold cleared up but he was still 400lbs underweight. We tried feeding him extra but he would eat no more than a normal horse, less even. Eventually, we tracked down his owner who immediately asked to see him. We gave permission and he came once a day to check on the skinny stallion. The stallion, who we renamed Splatter due to the markings he had, began eating more and put on weight. His hair had started to grow back his missing hair and is now a healthy horse with good weight and manners. He is well trained under the saddle and his an amazing reigning horse, he can do most farm work and is slightly young at 8 years of age. He could still use manners but is available for adoption.
