Name: Colorado
Gender: Male
Personality:Colorado is quiet unless he is around those familiar to him. Despite his reserve, he is actually quite headstrong, and won't agree easily to anything he thinks is unneccissary or dangerous. He may even act on impulse, if he thinks he is doing the right thing. Also he is exceptionally responsible, and tends to look after others as if they were his little brother or sister, and he is also very gentle with little ones.
Story: Colorado's rump twitched, causing the underbrush enveloping him to rustle. His eyes were trained on a bright dragonfly resting on a tulip leaf a few feet in front of him. His ear flickered at the sound of other Jelly Bean Dragons passing by in the distance. To his delight, the succulent insect had yet to flitter off. Colorado carefully adjusted his front paws, and situated his hind legs for an effective pounce.
After a deep breath, Colorado leaped into the air. With a loud thud, his front paws made contact with the ground, crushing the flame colored flower and its leaves. He lifted a paw, expecting to see a mangled but tasty drabonfly. He let out a surprised "Gah?" at the sight of bare cround. Colorado quickly raised his head and looked around frantically.
There. The dragonfly's flourescent wings flashed around an old oak tree.
Colorado scrambled after it, his paws slipping momentarily on the browning leaves underfoot. He clumsily rounded the tree and shot a glare at the speedy dragonfly. With a smirk, he grumbled, "I
will get you." Colorado again charged after the insect with a good natured growl. When he was within a good, short distance of his target, Colorado again leaped, this time with his jaws stretched wide to catch the dragonfly directly in his mouth. His teeth snapped shut, and the tangy juices of the blue-green bug filled his mouth with a satisfying crunch. Colorado chewed and swallowed his hard earned snack and licked his lips, delighted.
Colorado sat and looked around with his ears erect to catch the slightest sound. Tos his growing dismay, he didn't recognize any of hissurroundings. His heart raced with increasing speed, and he cursed himself for being so ignorant in his chase. He stood and started in what he thought was the direction of a path he had passed by earlier. After walking for several minutes, a suspicious sound reached Colorado's ears. He crouched low, startled by the sound; the screeches of a young Jelly Bean Dragon were unmistakable to him.
He took off running, his heart and mind were racing with thoughts of what could be causing the young dragon harm. He skidded to a stop as a small JBD came into view. It was struggling with a massive hawk, a bright pink stuffed platypus being bulled back and forth between them.Colorado, feeling a rush of empathy for the little Jelly Bean Dragon, charged with a deep growl escaping his throat. He swiped his paws at the large bird of prey, and with a flurry of squawks and feathers, the hawk was climbing into the sky, away from Colorado and the little JBD, and his toy.
Colorado's bright, blue-green eyes looked to the young dragon, "So what was that about?" he asked gently, walking over to the tattered stuffed animal. The little JBD spoke up between sniffs, "I-I'm lost," he stammered. Another sniffle,"That mean bird attacked me for no reason." Colorado smiled, "Well, I'm lost, too," he said, giving the platypus back to the Jelly Bean Dragon, "We can find our way home together."
He licked the little dragons ear comfortingly and started walking. The little dragon ran after Colorado. "What's your name?" he chirped, fully recovered from the recent incident. Colorado replied without looking at him, "Colorado. Yours?" The little JBD remained silent for a moment and answered, "Macaroon, but you can call me Macky."
And with that, the two dragons became best friends.
They gained their bearings later that day and found
their way back to Colorado's home, where they remain,
living cheerfully as the best of buddies.~*~Art:
