Story: I clutched my hands tightly. I was going to a horse auction for the first time ever. It will be so cool to own my own horse! As the truck screeched to a stop, I hopped out before my dad could tell me to stay. I was too excited! I had $750 to spend. My shoes crushed the wet snow that layed over the ground. When I walked to the barn, it took my eyes a moment to adjust. That's when I saw him. He was a gorgeous white and bay stallion that stood about 14 hands high. His name was Tears from Within. He's mine. His name and number were written down on my sketch pad. A did a quick sketch of him before returning to my dad.
"I found the one." I showed him the sketch.
He whistled, "Wow he's a beaut. Hope no one else bids on him."
I nodded, "He's number 8."
Number 8 sold to 2376! Number 9! Can I get $400?
I gasped, "I missed him!" I ran towards the auctioneer, "Who bought number 8?" He pointed at an old man in a cowboy hat.
I raced towards him. He was loading Tears from Within and a few other horses into and old, rusty trailer. "Mister!" He turned around. "Can I buy that bay and white one from you?"
"Well, Missy, I bought him fair and square."
"I-I'll buy him! How much?"
"How does $1,000 sound?"
I gulped, I only had $750!
"I don't have enough. Where is he going?"
"To the dog food company."
I began to cry. "They can't kill him! I won't let them!"
The man whispered, "I can't bear to see you cry. How about this hand me what you can pay and he's yours."
I looked up at him and my eyes sparkled. I wiped my tears away, "Thank you so much. This means the world to me." I handed him the money and grabbed his lead. I led Tears to my dad.
He smiled, "You got him."
I nodded. I began loading Tears.
"You can ride in the back of the trailer if you want."
I smiled, "Thanks Daddy." I climbed in with Tears.
The truck rumbled as it pulled away. A strange sound seemed to be coming from Tears. I looked over and saw a beautiful, long tail. I gasped. "You-Your tail. It-It's beautiful!" Tears had shown me his true form. I got my dream horse that day and I have never let him go.
