I am looking to love and keep... Picture:
Kennel number: P77
Name: Dot (I might change eventually)
Breed: Scene Dog
Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?: I was looking through the kennels and her design really caught my eye. I don't have a character anything like her and I think she'd be really fun to color, I'd probably order a bit of art for her and she'd have a place in my character thread. I'd color her in whenever I found the right lineart for her and I might even attempt to make my own lineart to color her in with. I love how with only 5 colors her design is beautiful and captures your eye.
Personality: For such a bright colored dog, Dot is very shy, and often hides behind her hair. But once Dot knows you as a friend she will go a bit out of her way to be with you. She likes to just lie in the sun and think, often coming up with elaborate and twisting stories in her head.
Likes: Coming up with stories, Peanut butter, Sunshine
Dislikes: Rain, Jelly, Poison Ivy
History/Background: Dot stumbled through the thick forest, towering trees looking down at her with disapproval, their branches reaching to dig into her pelt. Dot whimpered as the burning itch began to cover her whole body. Scratching alleviated the pain only for a split moment before making it even worse.
Dot could see the forest thinning out up ahead, and she speed up, wanting to escape from the dark and threatening forest. Dot had gotten lost about a day ago when she had first been allowed outside the cabin. She'd wandered away from her owner's home and gotten lost; she had been thinking about new story about dragons-- mythical creatures she had learned about from her owner's reading; Dot had unconsciously walked off while her mother dozed in the warm sunshine. She had later tried to find her way home, but all the trees and shrubs looked the same to her. Dot had then panicked, all her joy about her new story story gone. She'd started running through the forest frantically, barking as loud as she could, hoping she would hear an answer. But no answering bark had come, no voice yelling, "Dot! There you are!", nothing. Dot had then curled up, exhausted and despondent on a small spiky plant; tired enough to not notice the spikes on the leaves. The spikes her mother had warned her repeatedly about. Dot stopped at the edge of the forest; spread out before her was a rich valley with well cared for fields filled with ripe wheat. Dot ran down into the valley, rubbing herself all over the grass once she got to the bottom, oh!
The cool grass felt so good to her itchy, burning pelt, Dot could hear the wind whistling softly over the valley. The wheat sighing as they bent to greet their neighbor and the grass shifting into patterns as it pressed itself to the ground to get out of the way of the wind. Dot stopped rubbing herself over the grass as the sun came out from behind a cloud. Dot basked in the warmth of the sunlight for a brief moment. Then she buried her tender nose into the cool, black soil; she could feel a worm going on its merry way just beneath the surface.
Dot got to her paws; the momentary relief from the itching was gone, and her pelt felt like it was the target of a thousand fire ants once again. Dot ran towards the wheat; the wind flowing with her over the grass, almost like encouraging her to go onwards. Dot entered the fields of towering ripe wheat, the heads leaned down to look at her and whisper their encouragement as Dot ran past them. Dot looked up at the wheat as she ran, but she should have been looking ahead, because she bumped straight into a farmer gently examining one of the wheat heads. Dot got to her paws and itched right behind her ears as hard as she could as the female farmer peered down at her. The farmer gently picked Dot up, her warm leather gloves making Dot itch further. Dot whimpered and attempted to wiggle out of the farmer's arms, she just wanted to get away from this stranger; which was impossible with her back legs dangling in the air and the farmer holding her firmly. The farmer looked at her for a second, then said, "Looks like someone ran into some poison ivy; come with me pup." Of course, she didn't give Dot the choice of following or not, instead, she carried Dot under her arm, as you would a book when your hands were full.
The Farmer eased Dot's itching, and within a week Dot was fine; the farmer introduced herself as June, and Dot decided to stay with June in the small, cozy farmhouse that creaked softly in the wind. Dot quickly learned her way around the valley; helping out her new friend June however she could with the many farm chores to be done each day. It wasn't, however, like this at first.
The very first day Dot had tried to escape, but June hadn't let Dot get any further than the front door, which June refused to open no matter how much Dot whined and scratched at it. Dot hadn't tried a similar feat after that, and had instead hid under the bed; but June blocked the entrances to underneath the bed with planks of wood while Dot was eating her food in the kitchen. After that Dot pretty much gave up attempting to hide or escape; she and June quickly become close friends. Now Dot followed June everywhere, and when the morning's work was done; Dot would lay in warm sunshine coming up with new stories while June sat next to her reading a book.
After a week of searching, Dot's owner gave up looking, suspecting Dot was dead. After about a month, they'd all but forgotten all about Dot and their lives were as they were before Dot had arrived. Dot's mother still thought of her lost pup sometimes, but these times got fewer and farther between with every passing day.
