It's simple, like all young cats with a short attention span, his has been snagged by something shiny, it's tiny body crawling in the dried brown grass of the frontier that surrounds his home. Curious he turned from his training partner, too mesmerized by the shiny ambery-orange and green colour reflecting the light to hear his name being called; if he didn't know better he would have assumed it was a precious stone but the tiny movements told him it was a creature, what kind? he didn't know but he did know that he wanted it and he was going to get it, one way or another. He crouched low, chest brushing the ground as he trailed painstakingly slow behind the small creature, his head turning left and right as he watched it for a few moments and when it stopped moving he batted at it, knocking it on its back. Excited he pounced, catching the creature in-between his paws, and with a triumphant smile he finally looked up "I caught it Buckwheat! I caught....whatever this is" Raven called over his shoulder, not realizing that his training partner had been standing behind him the whole time until a tan paw swiped over his ear "Raven, I have been calling your name for awhile" came his stern reply "we were supposed to be training" Buckwheat grumbled as his sky blue eyes narrowed, earning a sheepish smile from the young tom "sorry Buckwheat" Raven murmured softly "but I found this" he added, turning to show the older tom what had captured his attention so intently only for the older tom to jump back "get that thing away from me!" Buckwheat practically screeched. A wicked smile formed on Raven's maw "aw come on Buckwheat, it wants you to touch it" Raven cooed as he moved closer to Buckwheat, earning another screech as the older tom took off back to camp, leaving Raven lying on the ground, laughter filling the air.

Aukpaw had been lost for a while, the fresh green grasses around him not something he'd been used to seeing in his life. He'd wandered off the trail after a small rabbit and hadn't found it yet. He'd wanted to take it back to his clan and show that yes, he was a good hunter, and yes, he was ready to be named a warrior. It wasn't fair that everyone else could be considered an adult and not him. Granted, he was only 10 moons old. But it was close enough! They needed more warriors! And he was ready to be helpful!

He took a few more steps forward, nose leading him in the direction he was sure the rabbit was in. It would be so tasty. Everyone would be so proud of him and Owlstar would immediately turn and say, 'Oh Aukpaw, you are the most amazing apprentice we've ever had, here, let's do your warrior ceremony right now! Congratulations, if I could I would make you deputy right now!'

Aukpaw stumbled over a rock and scuffed his leg a little before spinning in a circle. Okay, yes he might actually be lost. The heat of the day was starting to get to him, and he was feeling parched. There was probably a river or a stream in this general direction, so hopefully he'd find it soon.

He continued on for a little longer before the hair on his back started to stand up. Something was wrong.

His hackles started raise, not just along the base of his neck but along his whole spine. There was something right in front of him. Maybe the rabbit? No. No it couldn't be the rabbit the scent was getting weaker.

Aukpaw crouched down, a scowl forming on his face. Whatever it was, he'd face it head on. He'd be brave and strong and fierce. He'd save himself and he'd save the clan from whatever this dangerous creature was in front of him. It would be the greatest story ever told.

He snarled before lowering himself down, getting ready to pounce.
