i cannot thank you enough for bringing that moldboard to life, with such wonderful elegance - there's just so much I can point at and fan over, the lunar markings, the color palette, the faint dotted patterning to her pelt, that gorgeous eye!! thank you, leopia, I'll forever cherish her <3

When the last lantern dimmed and the bustling (and chaotic) chorus of the court faded into the deeper groves, Ayshi finally let her ever-fluttering wings still and lay flat against her back. The Fairy Court had been in council for three nights straight, debating all manner of things: of how best to wrangle their expansion-loving neighbours outside of the groves, arguing over boundaries of mushroom circles of the spore-aligned fae, oh, the endless bickering among the other princes - bless their souls, the younglings were full of life that brought joy to Ayshi, the eldest of their kin, yet the fact that they differed and clashed on so many minuscule things... took a lot out of her. Still, she had presided with calm grace, her voice even, her rulings precise - an unbreakable wall surrounded her ancient mind that protected both sides.

But now, alone, deep into the night, she shed that wall like discarding a well-worn travel cloak.

Ayshi drifted into her private hollow, large wings aflutter, and moonlight slipped through the canopy like threads of silver, greeting her like an old friend's kind smile. The princes thought of her as impartial, a calming reflection of mother moon herself - but here, as she pressed her slender fingered hands into damp clay, as she felt the earth across her palms she felt as if waking from a millennia-long slumber. She kneaded and shaped the mud into wild forms - her magic sparkled in her excited wake as she danced around -and sometimes with her animated statues. Statues with wings too large to lift, faces split by laughter or dotted with tears of loss, abstract swirls that reached up and above, as if trying to capture that ethereal lunar light and return to the pale mother above. Her chest rose with a breath not bound by judgment, but to stroke the fires of boundless creative energy.

Above her private locale, the moon hung full, watching her first creation as Ayshi did her own. Her eldest still held the same fire that burned bright in the youngest of fae who carved their names into bark or skipped stones through whole days and nights. A soft breeze drifted through the canopies, carrying with it faint laughter: the princes were still in their merry-making after a long session at court, somewhere deep within the ancient glades. For once, Ayshi didn’t answer their calls. Instead, she painted with dew until her limbs and face were covered in colourful specks and etched with shards of quartz until her fingers ached. For a time, she laughed softly to herself, reckless and unbound by duty - the only reality, to her at the moment, was her art and passion, and her watchful friend and beloved mother above.

Tomorrow, the court would see the stoic fae prince once again. But tonight, Ayshi belonged only to herself and to her art - her only witness the mother moon who had always known both of the faces she wore: the just arbiter and the reckless, creative dreamer.
