xxthe forgotten farmyard!

“Have the battalions I sent found any sign of the rebels yet?”
‘No, we’ve just now begun scouting further north, the mortal settlements obstruct our battalions.’
“Make sure they do not get caught. And Malakhim?”
‘Yes Erix?’
“Do not under any circumstances let the other Archangels know about my orders, or it shall be your wings displayed on the gates for the host to gaze upon. Am I clear?”
‘Y- yes sir.’
567 words wrote:Jack: “Hey- ow, get your teeth out of my scruff Persephone! Wait, no, not like that- OOF”
Persephone: “Satisfied?”
Jack: “Not particularly. Snows, love, it’s almost like you’ve grown cold as ice dropping me head over tail like that.”
Ceres: “I’d imagine she has good reason for that.”
Persephone: “It’s hardly as bad as what you did to Aine, after all. Summertime hasn’t been the same while he’s been in his enchanted slumber.”
Jack: “You can’t blame me for that.”
Ceres: “Yes we can. It was your mortal - you know, the one that you’ve been dealing with behind all our backs? She’s the one who’s been messing about with things that she can’t understand, she and her interloping trains.”
Jack: “Yeah, well, I didn’t tell her to do that.”
Persephone: “You know the rules, darling. You sought out a mortal, made dealings, and got one of us hurt in the process. Just because yours weren’t the paws wielding the magic doesn’t mean you’re not the one who put it in mortal paws. Haven’t you forgotten what happened last time?”
Jack: “You mean when you helped someone break Kore?”
Ceres: “Settle down, Seph. No need for more teeth.”
Persephone: “You know what they’re insinuating-”
Ceres: “No teeth. And Jack, awful as that situation was, Kore was a danger to all of the Court. Aine, on the other paw, is part of our balance. I know you two have your differences, but this is beyond cruel.”
Jack: “... why am I always the problem with you?”
Persephone: “Excuse me?”
Ceres: “Hear them out.”
Jack: “Every time something goes wrong around here, you two always blame it on me! I’m always too cold, too hard. I made the wrong choice. Why can’t you two shut it for once?”
Persephone: “I’m sorry, holding you accountable for the awful things you do is blaming you? You of all people should know how I handle my own problems!”
Jack: “Do you? Do you really?”
Ceres: “Jack. Persephone Now is not the time for this. We can solve that problem after we solve this one.”
Jack: “So solve it, wiseguy. The mortal I’ve been treating with went rogue on me, messed up one of my beloved partners, and knocked the seasons out of balance. Persephone blames me for it. Who is at fault here, huh?”
Persephone: “Them, obviously! They should have control over their mortals!”
Ceres: “...”
Jack & Persephone: “Well?”
Ceres: “It is Jack’s fault. We made a treaty between all four seasons that we weren’t going to work with mortals on a personal level after Kore. You broke that treaty. Something must be done.”
Persephone: “Then it’s settled!”
Jack: “What?”
Ceres: “Wait, Persephone-”
Persephone: “Winter King Jack Frost, Lord of Wintertime, Blade of the Frost, for your crimes againt the Summer Monarch I sentence you to banishment. You will spend five hundred seasons roaming the mortal realm until you may return, unless you manage to undo the curse upon Aine. Is that clear?”
Jack: “What are you- Persephone you can’t- what have you done? I’ll get you back for this-”
Ceres: “They’re gone now. Are you satisfied?”
Persephone: “Extremely. After everything- After Kore- That felt so good, you have no idea.”
Ceres: “I’m glad. Now, of course, you and I have to figure out how to balance all four seasons ourselves. I presume you had a plan in mind?”
Persephone: “Ah, bones.”

FoxStar: “Alright Snare, what do you see?”
HawkSnare: “Hm. Definitely a bear kill, no doubt about that.”
FoxStar: “Monarch was right then.”
HawkSnare: “That’s something even she couldn’t mess up. But..”
FoxStar: “But what?”
HawkSnare: “Hm. There’s Coyote sent in here too.”
FoxStar: -Sigh- “Great. Just what we need. Another pack of coyotes roaming our grounds and taking our food."
HawkSnare: “Not a pack, just one.”
FoxStar: “Think you can handle it?”
HawkSnare: “It’ll be dead within the moon, FoxStar.”
FoxStar: “Good. Finally, something I don’t have to worry about.
HawkSnare: “I got the coyote, but what are you planning to do about the bear?”
FoxStar: “Right. First, let's get a move on before it gets too late in the morning. I want to be back to the camp by the time the rest of the patrols start gathering. They’ll want to know our findings before they risk heading out.”
HawkSnare: “Fine.”
FoxStar: “Alright, the bear. That blundering beast is out a lot later than I thought he’d be.”
HawkSnare: “And he’s clearly hungry.”
FoxStar: “That too. Probably didn’t get enough food in leaffall. We’d need to scare him off without putting cats at risk, but I doubt that’ll be an easy feat considering he has a taste for our game now that he’s desperate. It’ll probably come down to harvesting our leafbare barries and other herbs sooner than planned.”
HawkSnare: “EchoVine isn’t going to like that.”
FoxStar: “Well, he can just shove it. I’m tired of his plant-whispering nonsense. Just because we pick them early doesn’t mean the plant will resent us and produce less next season due to spite.”
HawkSnare: “...”
FoxStar: “Oh don’t tell me you believe that crap?”
HawkSnare: “I..Don’t fully believe it, I just-”
FoxStar: “Just what?”
HawkSnare: “I just don’t think you should dismiss everything he says. He hasn’t guided us wrong in the past.”
FoxStar: “But he has made everything far too complicated, way more than it needs to be.”
HawkSnare: “If you say so.”
FoxStar: “I do say so.”
HawkSnare: “...”
FoxStar: “Look, just keep your head on a swivel for more bear sign, or anything else of interest.”
