Pouring rain drips down the entrance of the cave Wanderer hunkered down in last night. He cracks half an eye open, peering into the darkness, guess he was right to have headed in earlier. He rolls over and shuts his eye, maybe if he pretends long enough the rain will disappear?

…

He throws a paw over his face.

Groaning, he reluctantly stumbles to his feet. Is he really going to do this?

Yes. Yes he is.

A paw inches out, reluctance colouring every twitch, urgh this rain really isn’t letting up? Please? Wanderer gasps a mouthful of air and ducks out, his fur almost immediately drenched to the bone, Stars Above that’s cold.

He looks around frantically, feeling foolish for not searching for a tree first. Something softly glowing flickers past the corner of his eye. He leaps around, eyes narrow in anticipation. Then he sees it. There. A thick fir, tall and sturdy with branches stretching towards the heavens.

It takes a bit to pick his way across the puddling mud but make it he did. He shudders as he feels the tell-tale feeling of mud slowly drying on the soft fur on his paws and the caking of his claws. Gross. Wanderer briefly considers trying to clean them, before looking out at the unending showers. Yeah no, it’s very clearly going to keep raining. Someone remind him why he’s out there again? Ahh right, the food isn’t going to hunt itself.

Goosefeather tried not to burn with too much embarrassment while Flamesight scurried around the tree like it was no big deal. So what if being around twolegs so long had made her a little less brave when it came to climbing trees? She could still be helpful! There had to be something under the fallen leaves, right?

She closed her eyes and lifted her muzzle to the air, trying to scent out anything helpful from the baseline autumn cacophony of dead leaves and the ground beneath. Hm… no mice, no other prey, but… ooh, what’s that?

Not far from the tree Flamesight was using as hunting grounds was a little patch of green struggling against the dead leaves. Goosefeather padded over and began gently pulling away leaves. Perhaps there was something useful there?

“Whatcha find?”

Goosefeather almost jumped when Flamesight appeared behind her, dropping a freshly caught squirrel beside them. “Oh, uh, I think this might be some useful herbs?”

Flamesight peered at the green patch for a quick moment before grinning. “Aw, yeah, that’s the stuff. C’mon, Goosie, help me pick these!” [You’ve received +1 3fp squirrel, +1 chamomile, and +1 dock!]

Looks like the fox wasn’t too happy about Eve’s prank and attacked! Luckily, no one was hurt. The fox has left!

Pumpkinpatch caught a nice, juicy +2 fp vole while hunting!

Looks like Pumpkinpatch dug up +1 Comfrey Root and +1 Catmint!

Uh-oh! A hungry fox decided to try to fight Pumpkinpatch for the vole. It lost, but Pumpkinpatch sustained a side wound. They have lost -30% HP and will require one post of rest before being sent out again.

notes: predator ignored <3

nose dramatically staggered to her feet (or? paws i guess?) with an excessively long scream. not because her bestest friend had tragically died, unbeknownst to her, but because her head was in tremendous pain.

she felt as if she was wading through a sea of very sticky jelly.

but on a positive note, at least she could think again! this fact alone led her to believe that she had escaped the wrath of the skunk. or, the skunk had left! with a pleased and slightly creepy smirk, she inhaled one and a fourth breaths of air, expecting the very stinky spray of the skunk to still be lingering in the air. however, she was very unpleasantly surprised.

the smell in the air was metallic. like metal. like iron and copper.
like– blood?

"s-satinwish?"

nose had a bad habit of believing the worst in these kinds of situations, and unfortunately her assumptions were 100% accurate.

nose let out a blood curdling scream. it was so loud that everyone within an 812 mile vicinity started charging toward her. unfortunately, this happened to be… a lot of cats. even more unfortunately, nose's scream went on for so long and was unable to be stopped.

after about fifteen minutes of contemplation from all nose's witnesses, wildrice stuffed a very dirty sock in her mouth before she could cause permanent damage to her vocal chords. however, the doctors still suspected that nose's vocal cords were seriously damaged. her condition was unable to be identified in that early stage.

wildrice, the genius that he is, also stuffed some herbs in nose's mouth. he had noooooo idea what any of them did, so he could have poisoned her– but thankfully! his treatment worked! yay!

wildrice decided to leave nose (the screaming child) alone, and locate some cool trinkets in the area to cheer her up. or more stuff to shove down her mouth, in case she decided to start screaming again. (324 words)

essie and alida ran away from the grido at top speeds! sparking circuits made their faces appear in varying shades of red and green... almost like christmas lights??? essie was very not pleased and cursed the electricians of the grido. "those fire-bleeders! think they can get away with anything now, don't they?" she shoved past a dangling wall of various wire and iron until she found herself at an iron fence. she grabbed a pair of wire cutters from her non-existent pockets and began cutting. "hmm its not cutting!" essie exclaimed, her face all scrunched up in a scowl. she poked the fence very agressively and then all of a sudden the entire fence burst into fire! "ahhhhhhhhhhhh!" essie screamed very very loudly and rolled around lots to put out the fire on her fur. stop drop and roll... you know? but when essie looked back at the fence, it appeared perfectly normal.

alida made this face :0 she was obviously very shocked but she was a smart cookie fortunately. "ohhhhh its a lithium fence!" alida said very matter factly although a bit excitedly which was odd considering their predicament. "it reacts to water... so you probably shouldn't have touched it." essie let out a disgruntled noise and began chopping away at the fence with her wire cutters once more... apparently unperturbed by the fact she almost got turned into dust by the fence. unfortunately, it seems that essie is lacking some survival instincts.

if the fence had a face, it would probably be scowling too.
"ma i think its time we ditch wire cutters!" alida said :) she stole essie's wire cutters and threw it over the fence before dragging her ma towards a... interesting looking tunnel. its very dark in there. very spooky. very foreboding. but alida didnt seem to notice how dangerous this tunnel could be... like mother like daughter :o poor survival instincts.

note: essie has gone unhealed!
