The Goddesses, lost in each other's gaze, hadn't noticed a cat nearby. Their gazes soon separated from one another, and soon Gala's vibrant purple gaze would meet the figure.
It was big... it was pink... it was chaos...
It. Was. BABY!
"Oh Stars." Gala whispered to herself, quickly wrapping her tail around Nona and lifting her into the sky, the cats physical forms swiftly dissipating.
"Why did you run-" Nona looked down, her eyes locking on Baby. "I understand now."
To think... the two Goddesses themselves feared Baby's unpredictable and chaotic nature. It wasn't uncommon for Baby to venture out, but to come this far into the forest... it was certainly different. Soon, the Goddesses would witness Baby begin to climb trees. Her jaw was unhinged like a snake's, her eyes wide. Baby soon found herself upon a large bird nest, plucking each feather out and dropping it onto the ground below.
"Why is she gathering feathers?" Nona asked with a squint of her eyes.
"Oh no. She's pranking someone again." Gala said with a sigh. "How does the Heart of Decay like her?"
"I think her chaos is just good for opponents or other threats. They never expect what she has planned. Remember when she dropped a bucket on a hostile loner's head, then they clunked against a tree and went out cold?"
"Oh yes. Unconventional, but she has her way of serving the clan." Gala chuckled, her ears pricking forward as she witnessed Baby stuff the large chunk of feathers into the egg satchel around her neck. Then, Baby gently opened the egg part of the satchel, withdrawing something - a jar!
"What does she need that for?" Gala asked.
"No idea, you're the Goddess of Choice. Maybe uh... tell her to make a better choice?"
"Nona, my love, do you know who you're talking about?"
"Yeah..."
Baby soon approached a tree and held the jar out with her front paws, watching as sap dripped into it slowly. Baby's head was bobbing back and forth, her tail wiggling in excitement.
"You know... even with how terrifying her chaos is, it's fun to watch the cogs in her mind roll." Gala said with a flick of her tail. "Such an interesting creature."
Once the jar was full, Baby carefully sealed it before quickly scaling a tree, making herself comfortable upon a tree branch.
"Now she's just... waiting?"
"She plays the long game sometimes. It's remarkable." Nona commented as she laid in the air comfortably. Soon, her eyes widened - a cream cat, around the age of an apprentice began prancing up, sniffing about for something.
It was Hope. One of Nona and Gala's children.
"Oh. Oh no." Gala quickly realized, and Nona looked at the cat approaching, quickly gasping.
"GALA YOU GOTTA STOP HER!"
Gala quickly descended from the skies above, whispering - well, not really whispering, more like frantically yelling, into Baby's ear.
"BABY, NO!" Gala quickly realized it was to no avail, retreating to Nona's side. "I am so sorry little one."
"BABY YES." The pink cat cooed as she poured the sap down upon Hope's head, followed by the cluster of feathers falling, landing and sinking into Hope's now drenched pelt.
Hope gasped, looking up. "BABY!? What are you doing out here?!"
"No no, I get to ask the questions! What are YOU doing out here alone? I knew you were gonna sneak out again!" Baby yipped, which caught Nona and Gala's attention.
"She... was disciplining Hope."
"Through a prank!" Nona finished. "How brilliant. I love this place." Nona said with a soft chuckle. "Can't believe Baby actually had a good purpose behind a prank."
"Don't get used to it." Baby mumbled quietly, drawing Nona and Gala's attention.
"She... heard that? Even from here?" Gala muttered in confusion.
"Don't uh... don't question Baby. That's one thing I've learned." Nona said with an exasperated look.
Upon hearing her lover's whisper though of a sharp tongued foe on the horizon, her ears perked. "Something exciting! Come on Gala, let's go investigate it."
"Not so fast." Gala's tail quickly swung in front of Nona, coiling around her chest and moving her backwards. "Snakes are not a curiosity thing. Their bites can hurt - and in our mortal forms, be damaging..." Gala trailed off, her gaze suddenly focused on Nona's soft green gaze. Her pupils, like the stars that dappled the cheeks of the night sky glittered beautifully - her lovers curiosity and excitement stomped out the flames of her logic. "Very well. Just be careful."
